This is a pretty gross dog park. It's smaller than a tennis court, all dirt (no grass) and no one picks up after their dogs, including, I would assume, the city workers who are supposed to do this job. I decided to be a good samaritan and started to pick up some other dogs' poo but stopped after a dozen or so. There were several dozen more. Come on, Big Bear. Do better. The only reason I'm giving this place two starts instead of one is because the people I met there - locals - were nice people. read more

Was visiting in town, happy that this dog park was local. Only 5 mins away from the village. 2 things I wasn't the biggest fan of, 1. The Sand(super messy) 2. Was that many dogs maybe only 1-2, I seen more dogs outside of the actual dog park. Just roaming around the actual park.. At least it's something, but it's not much. Quite small. No shade for the benches for people. Dirty sandy ground that smells. If there were 4 or more dogs (in the "large" yard) it would be too many. The space is far too small to throw a ball or have a dog actually run. How unfortunate this seems to be the only off-leash area in BB Lake. read more

This is the best of the dog parks located within the big bear valley. We like that it has sand for the ground & they have a water hose. They also have a toy bin & plenty of seating. Bring toys to donate to the toy box if you can!! read more

Was a good spot for my dog to run around, do his business, and tire himself out before a drive back down the mountains. A few people were there and they and their dogs were friendly. Small dog area looked kinda wimpy, but the large dog area looked spacious enough. There is a blind spot, but that's alright if you are okay with that. Kinda-small dog park. On the lake, but not touching the water. It has area for large and small dogs. Made with sand which isn't great because the dogs get dirty and sand gets in the car. Clean though. Garbage can and dog poop bags available. Lots of parking. It backs up to a baseball field. I bet the dogs would go nuts during a game! No water fountain for dogs. read more

A very TINY place, for sure! Our two large dogs were satisfied after about ten minutes here since there isn't much for them to do/explore. The whole park is comprised of sand, some benches, and various accessories such as poop baggy/trash stations and a few bowls for water next to a hose. Problem was that the hose wouldn't turn on when we tried to give the dogs a drink, so that was weird. The small dog side is kind of a joke, so there were small dogs on the large side with ours (understandably). Parking is easy. This Sunday morning wasn't very crowded, which surprised me. The nearby sports park makes you want to let your dog run free there instead since this park leaves a lot to be desired. But hey, if you need someplace for your dog to run around for a bit, this does the job. And I'd say the best part of this park is the location! We walked ours down along the lake afterward which was a nice ending to their exercise. read more

The dog park is 2 stars because the small dog area is incredibly small but i guess it makes sense, so far, there are hardly small dogs that go. This dog park attracts larger dogs mostly. There is only a water pump on the large dog side and not on the small dog side. The whole place is just sand which my dog loves to kick around but it's not fun when you're next to a big dog and they dog or kick. So far the people I've met have been quite nice here but some are snobby for no reason. There are dog bags and 1 "interactive" play item on each side for the dogs. There are benches for the humans to sit at and plenty of parking. I only come to surprise my dog when the usual walk gets boring. Would I come again? I have to as it is the only one in the area. *shrug* Dog fights happen randomly even with regulars that come here in the large dog park so keep a very watchful eye. At first when pulled up I thought the park was closed for the season as the sign stated. made a u turn and was pretty bummed with the park begging closed sense it was the only off leash dog park in big bear lake area. So went to the downtown area so my wife can do a little birthday shopping for her self with me in tow. Tried to leave the pupples in the car (all 4 windows open 1/2 way so put your judgment on hold for a min) but they were not having it they were barking up a storm giving me the perfect excuse to head back to the car. Saving me from forking out fashion advise trying to hold a straight face while I say "I don't know babe they both look nice in you tough call" when I a really need to know is witch one is lighter on my pocket book. So off to the car I go happy as a clam to get back to my three little buddies. The lady behind the counter came out meet my little thirsty explorers and offered them gluten free treats (not kidding) and invite me into the store along with the dogs. Not so unusual pet co and pet smart do this as well but what I didn't know until she shared with me that the 99% of the downtown store allow dogs to shop round as well. So I asked her if she knew if a open off leash dog park as I had just returned from "BARK PARK" that was closed for the season. "CLOSED FOR SEASON?.. I was there this morning she tell me so I assumed she was speaking of a different dog park so I payed close attention to her direction turns out same park only that the dog park is on the street side of the park right next door to the tennis courts and not by the lake front swimming area that's was closed for the season.. So moral of the long story is don't make a u-turn and leave like a big dummy the BARK PARK is the small fenced area next to the light blue bungalós on your right as you pull in cool little area for the little guys and a slightly larger play ground for the big dawgs 4 star due to the sand my crew love the grass and look for the beach when they play in the sand. Best dog park by far, and I've seen a few! Two areas, small and big dog, "no kids under the age of 12" (I understand, but don't like this part. Great spot to take the dogs to for a trip to Big Bear. We went in January and the space was covered in snow. While I'm not sure if it was technically suppose to be open, other folks were there with dogs as well so the space was usable. There's both a small dog area and a large dog area. There's plenty of parking in the lot and the Bark Park is located next to other parks with direct access to the lake, which was nice. read more

This park is small, but it has some fun little agility activities for the pups to try. We were visiting out of town and wanted to let our pups run around. They had a great time here. There were 2 other sweet pups there to play with. Bob the Australian Shepard was fun to chase and play frisbee with. read more

I visited when it was empty in the small dog area. Ideal since my dog seems to love his ball kore than other dogs. Super clean, a sign stating that no aggressive dogs are allowed and to leave immediately if your dog is aggressive. Very nicely groomed! read more

This park was ok. I brought my huskies here on a Sunday afternoon. There's a section for large dogs and small dogs, but the over all area is pretty little. They have some nice features like a hitching post for leashes near the exit and double gates for safety, but it was lacking in some features I've seen in other parks. There's a water spigot on the large dog side only with an ill fitting water bowl, so it was very muddy. The park is entirely sand, so prepare for dusty pups! read more

Super small area, sand ground cover only and no available water for the dogs. Space is not enough for large dogs in my opinion. When we were there, one other family was there with their hound. The hound took my dog's ball ran to the other side of the park and pissed on the ball. Me and my Rottweiler Pitbull mix left right after. . . without the ball. read more

There are two areas. The small dog area was really small, could have been somewhat larger. The big dog area is mostly sand and struggling grass, which is OK. Dog parks take a beating and growing anything is a challenge. We didn't stay long because it was very hot, but it's good to know it's available. It was clean, no litter or dog waste. Bark Park is a small dog park, but it's well maintained and clean. There are two separate fenced areas for small & big dogs with agility equipment for the dogs play with, fresh water available and more than one bench for the humans. :) We were just visiting for a few days, but it was nice to be able to take our pup here to safely run and play off leash. read more

I love this dog park. It's small and well kept. So often when I try to vacation anywhere, making accommodations for my dogs is a pain and a half, but just knowing that big bear has a dog park where I can let my dogs go off leash takes a weight off of my shoulders. My only complaint would be that there is no water but apparently there is- I just have never seen it. read more
