Went to MacKay park last month, I did not take any photos that day, but it was a small park good for family and children. Upon arriving, parking lot is not as big as you would expect, we squeezed in besides the trash cans to park, however it was really clean, and everyone's vibe is nothing but smiles and nods. They do have bathrooms, on the right hand side near the parking lot are swings, to the left and middle part closer to the parking lot has two pickleball courts, and if you walk past the swings the walkway leads to a view and a children's playground. My fiancée and I came for the dog park, which was literally a walk to the left past the actual parking lot. Spacious with a few trees and limited spots for shade. But enough room for your furry friends to stretch their legs! read more

What a gem this park is, we got done walking around the Village so we decided to take the girls to the park for a bit before we went to meet up with our other friends to watch the bands play. Wow this park is amazing, it was very windy and foggy but the kids didn't mind. We brought blankets so through them over us lol and walked over. They have swings when you first walk up, but if you walk a bit further they have the playground. They also have a tennis or bad mitten court and basketball courts too. The playground is so nice and clean and they have a cool zip line for the kids to play on, they loved that so much and had a blast going on it lol. It even has a cute little gazebo such a beautiful park. The girls had a blast we would love to come here again. If you have never been to MacKay Park you should if you have little ones it's really beautiful here. Even if you don't it's peaceful and in the mountains and so lovely. I always enjoy a great park. This is a spot where you can decompress, relax and also get a workout in rather it's a run or jog or a simple bike ride. If you want to bring your fur babies this is a great spot that they can enjoy. read more

I wanted to add this review in for the views mostly. This is not a normal spot you might find when visiting Lake Arrowhead, but it super cool. It is actually a recreational park which has several attractions including a dog bark park, a children's area with swings, a pickelball court, a gazebo area, and last but not least amazing views of Papoose Lake and Lake Arrowhead. It sits up top on the mountain above the ALA. (Association of Lake Arrowhead.) The dog park always had people and dogs and separated by a large and small dog area. What a great spot in the middle of the 95% day to work. In the back there is a scenic outlook overlooking the lake and its shaded, with a breeze. Fantastic spot to work or read outside if you need a break. The dog park is large, it's a desert-y feel but expansive. There are several pickleball courts, which is awesome, and they are well kept. With Arrowhead being a private lake finding things for tourist activities is limited. If you have kids venture to McKay park for an afternoon of play and beautiful views. Located above the lake you get some of the best views and perfect breeze coming up the hillside to cool ya down after chasing a toddler. The majority of dog owners bring their dogs that have NOT been spayed/neutered. Today, I witnessed an extremely negligent puppy owner who brought her lab mix female puppy into the big dog area, instead of the small dog/puppy area. Without hesitation, she assumed that the large dogs were all fixed, but they all charged her small female puppy. The overgrown foxtails in both the big dog and small dog areas were unacceptable. My dachshund could have gotten some in his ears had he continued to explore near the fence line. I will not be back. read more

I especially like taking my dog to the Dog Park. They have two- one for small dogs and one for big dogs.

There's a lot to be improved here. Large area, Great view, but not enough stuff for kids. What a letdown.

This is for the dog park- which is just across the street. There's not a lot of shade- but trees are growing. There's separate areas for large and small dogs. A water fountain is available with a dog bowl. My dog enjoyed running around and playing with others and love that it's close by. read more

Always looking for nice parks to walk my dogs in when I travel. This park is still expanding, but has great play equipment, picnic tables, good bathrooms and a beautiful view of lake. Also a horse shoe pit and volleyball court. We also visited their dog park that is located across the street. It was a good size enclosure covered in wood chips. There were no trees for shade and you have to bring your own water. We will enjoy revisiting this park in a few years to see it's completion. read more

Awesome dog park/run area. Never too busy but still nice to let your dogs run free. There are hiking trails but be weary of two things- rattlesnakes & your dog overheating due to lack of shade... We came here because we found out there was a dog park and also dog-friendly hiking trails. It seemed like a nice space...the dog park appeared to be your average dog park, and there were hiking trails and I think even disc golf or some sort of activity. The down side here is that there is NO shade. The dog park has zero shade, and we didn't get too far on the trail before turning around and leaving because there wasn't much shade there either and it was in the upper 90's! Seems like it would be a great spot when it's not sweltering out. read more

So happy to have a DOG PARK in the area but there is ZERO shade. On cool days, no problem. But on hot days, go early or late. Park is cleaned up nicely. No grass but dirt/sand/gravel. No water!! Bring your own water and water bowl. It's not busy which is good because it's not very big. No section to separate big dogs from small dogs. My dogs were happy from the off leash run. Kids play area across the parking lot. Not close enough to watch dogs and kids at the same time. read more
