Park closed off with fences and warnings not to enter.

Park is not open to the public! We where visiting from from of town and this looked like a nice place for my 2 yr old to get some energy out before the ride home, showed him a picture of the fire truck and he was so excited. We pull up to see private property signs everywhere and all the entrances locked with a big banner that says Rent This Park. I get that things cost money but at least have a donation box or small admission fee, just a bummer to see the greed and lack of info on the owners behalf, especially in a small town with no other playgrounds to offer.

Go to this park is owned by Shirley Jones and husband Marty Ingels. (He was the voice of PacMan cartoon: in 1990 I called him and said I was Blinky and that I was gonna get him!). The park is a tiny park in a tiny town, but is a must-see diversion because it provides.. * a moment of reflection as the only 9/11 Memorial in So Cal, containing one of the few pieces of steel that were not shipped off to the moon to avoid investigation (according to the Loose Change video) * horseshoes! a game slightly older than Jesus * a photo op with statues that look like oversized thrift store dolls. * exercise equipment apparently for grandpas based on the illustrated guidelines. they have pull-up, push-up, and pull my finger.

This place is hilariously odd. The exercise equipment includes line drawings of the frumpiest, most disinterested, saggy armed seniors you'll ever see. There are mannequins of a cowboy, an Indian and a cop so you're half expecting someone to start belting out Village People songs. There's a very serious and entirely out of place 9-11 memorial. And right in the middle of all this strangeness is a wooden box next to the horseshoe pits with a message carefully carved into it to please be kind and don't steal the horseshoes. It was wonderfully sweet. 2013 #9 / 365

This place is located in a shaded, clean and beautiful location. It's fun for the kids, super duper clean! and lots of little things to look at here. I'm sure parking could be tricky at times but we've never had a problem. I am definitely jealous of everyone who lives right next to it! It would be awesome to have your kids come play here everyday.

This was weird... It's a tiny little park... directly across the street from the North Shore Cafe... so as I sat eating lunch... I kept staring at this place. It's this tiny little fenced in area... I guess there is a small little kids swingset type thing in the corner... but the rest is adorned with these random placed statues. In one corner, there was a pirate... and a couple horseshoe mini posts... to play horseshoes. Then there was an air force pilot... a farmer... a fireman with a fire truck... I'm sure I'm missing a couple... oh... a real stuffed brown bear in glass.. named Barney apparently... hahaha. A piece of metal from the twin towers (you know... 9/11) - which to me is the weirdest thing. They had that here...and then in another area of Big Bear a pine tree dedicated to that... it was the weirdest thing and didn't quite make sense of why they'd have that here.. "The World's Largest Tire" - I scoff... is that really the world's largest tire... some how I doubt it. I don't know... there are a ton of weird statues and stuff here... I would have taken more pictures if I were more comfortable taking pictures with the sweetie... hahaha. Ah well... maybe next time. It's a weird place to check out... and just interesting..

While driving around Big Bear Lake on Sunday morning, we came across this cool park in the town of Fawnskin, CA. While this town is pretty tiny they do have this historic landmark. This park is dedicated to all the victims that perished in the tragic 9/11 incident. The park is located in the center of town and there are huge pine trees providing lots of shade. They have horseshoe pits available for play. In addition there are some exercise machines available to work the arms and upper body. They have a small kids play area as well. While all of this entertainment is nice, what impressed me is that they have a piece of the Twin Towers on display. It is a girder from the dome and it was gifted to this park by Mayor Giuliani. Above the this piece is an angel which is very appropriate. Being a regular up in Big Bear Lake, I have been by this park many times and never noticed the importance of making a visit. We all took he time to pay our respects and held a moment of silence for all the lost victims. I am so glad we stopped by. There was also a grizzly bear on display from Alaska hat had been hit by a semi and was transported here as his final resting place. I am a bit puzzled by how this exhibit fits in with 9/11, but perhaps there is more to the story. Anyway, stop by when you get a chance and check this park out.

A little small tribute.

It's a small park. If you're in the area, meaning you're across the street from lunch at the North Shore Cafe. It would be a nice walk to walkover and visit the area, but I would not go out of my way to come here.

Awesome little park, kids had a blast and the 9/11 memorial is a very touching addition...

Lovely location---Feels like you're in a western movie. 9-11 memorial is touching and well worth it. You can picnic on the benches and play a game of horseshoe too! Fyi- there is a very Cute coffee shop across the street with delicious food (pasta and salad) and nice selection of vinos.

Outstanding place for the kids to run around on a grassy field with little trucks and other things to climb on. Good for kids under 4.

Located on the western side of Big Bear Lake, this park is a popular destination for both locals and visitors, particularly those looking to enjoy a peaceful and leisurely walk with their pets, a picnic, or just some quiet time by the water. There is a free parking lot adjacent to the park, but it can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. If the lot is full, there is additional street parking available nearby. The park is open year-round, but the best times to visit are during the spring, summer, and fall when the weather is mild, and the lake is at its most beautiful.

Many people taking pictures or selfies, some people fishing off the small pier, while others were walking their dogs. It was very clean, there is restrooms available (yes there was a line) and plenty of parking, although you may need to wait for a spot. It is a cool park to check out, I've seen pictures of people kayaking, however there are signs that say to stay on the path and not cross over the railing. A nice picnic place perhaps or family photos with the bear. The boulders in the area/park make it a cool photographic area.

First, on a Sunday afternoon at the end of October, no parking by noon. My second reason for…read moreremoving a star is that the "female" restroom was out of order, the "male" restroom didn't have a trash can (which I understand, partly, being in the forest). But why have a girls and boys restroom, why not just two bathrooms. And the last reason I kept a star, only one trash reciprocal in the entire parking lot. I believe we should continue to encourage Visitors to "pack it in, pack it out" plus some. How do we do that if we expect then to put it in their car and take it with them? Trailhead has a very descriptive sign, provides lots of good information. Trail is 6.4 miles, 1,174 altitude gain (out/back), dogs allowed on lead, near Fawnskin. This trail offers AMAZING views of Big Bear Lake, bikes also share the trail. (Dog bags provided at trailhead, pls pick up after yourself, and your doggie;) There's so much to explore, get up, and get out there.

At the top is a rock outcropping where you can get a good view of the lake, albeit partially obstructed. I saw a cinnamon-furred black bear near the top the last time I hiked (June 27, 2017 around 6:15pm), so be on the lookout, keep your distance, and make your presence know (I stomped my feet, and he took notice and slowly went about his business in a different direction than where I was). July 13, 2017: did an evening hike and saw 2 deer, along with a pair of yellow eyes and green eyes (more deer?) at night, and three scorpions along the trail. You will need an Adventure Pass to park in the lot, but alternatively you can park along the road (a good spot is by the Eagle habitat warning sign).
