Our boys love it when we bring them here. The woman who works at the front is always SO sweet to our babies, giving them samples and plenty of pets. The treats are top-notch. We trust the selection that they stock, which is harder to do at big stores. Plus it's great that we get samples, so we don't end up buying a load of treats that they don't end up touching. We've gone in for baked treats, fish oil, poop bags, chews, training bites, etc. Next time we stock up on food (we buy Open Farm), we'll probably get it from here. Support local! read more

My pup absolutely loves the selection at this store. If they don't have what she wants, they will order it. This is not your typical pet supply shop. They strive to be a step above the rest, and, do a phenomenal job. They carry a good assortment of products, freeze dried , raw, kibble, as well as complete meals. Okay, so I really wanted to like this place because I'm all about supporting local businesses, but I couldn't get past the attitude of the workers/owners. This place sells high-end pet food; good brands you wouldn't find easily elsewhere. The space is small, but it is well-kept. However, the problem is that they act like they're doing you a favor by letting you shop there. God forbid you ask them a question! I was inquiring about freeze-dried raw cat food and other raw-related products for cats. I was looking for recommendations, but they simply pointed to their rather small cat food selection. They had no real knowledge about the products they sold, and they acted... well, like snobs. I think they have a targeted clientele and if you don't fit it, they look down on you. I'm so glad my friends recommended this 5 star pet boutique to me when I got my pup almost 4 years ago. They have strongly pre-vetted dog food brands that you usually can't find online, and their prices are very competitive for such high quality food and treats. I've been coming here since I got my picky pup, Prince, and I have received stellar customer service EVERY. SINGLE. VISIT! I've been stopping in more lately because Prince decided he wouldn't eat his food. They gave me several samples to try one week--he didn't really eat them. I came in the following week and asked if they had more samples--of course, they gave me more. This time, my pup happily ate one of the sample brands--even without topper! I am new to the neighborhood AND a new puppy owner. While I was away on a recent weekend, my pup suffered a pretty severe fall under my husband's care - but miraculously was not seriously hurt. She was given medication, and she was a little shaken up. From afar, I was so worried about her, and I knew I had to get my pup some treats (cue frozen yogurt!) to make her feel extra comfortable and keep her busy after such a trauma. My dog's food storage was already empty. When I tried to feed him rice and some chicken he got dehydrated and his poop was soft. It's not good for him so I decided to come here since his food was bought in this store. She loves dog food. It's a little bit expensive. Aside from that I also bought him milk for dog. His milk in our house is already 1 left so I need to buy another 2 bottles of milk. It's nice that the staff assisted you well and gave some recommendations for your dog. So helpful, friendly & cool. I love how knowledgeable the owner is with regards to products/ingredients; they absolutely do not push product or try to sell/up sell. Everything I've purchased from here has been wonderful, especially the CBD treats. It's so reassuring to know how much the owner cares for animals and you're not buying junk. I really, really love going to Bark N' Bites. A few years back when I was living in St. Louis, I worked with a client of mine who had a cute little shop such like this and it was my absolute go to place. I was pretty bummed I would have to find a similar spot but Bark N' Bites was the first place I checked out and the only one I needed to after that. I've always had really great service when I went in there, helping with what I needed and educating me on different things I would have never thought of. From safe treats to give my baby puppy to a new dog food when my favorite was bought out by Purina - WOOF! I love it. They also have a great rewards program when it comes to food, although I was bummed when I my other food sold out as I was almost to enough UPC codes to get a free bag. I kinda wish I would have been credited for it. For how many free samples they have given me I will let it fly in my brain, ha. But really, I get it. It never fails that I walk out of there spending over $100, but I can't resist spoiling my babies with all the available treats at hand! The selection is incredible. They also have fun toys and adorable local Chicago wears for your pups. That's not so much my thing but if it's yours, know it's there. My dog and I love Bark N' Bites. They have a great selection of natural treats...and at really fair prices nonetheless. I remember being shocked at how reasonable the prices were the first time I stopped by the store...much less expensive than the neighborhood pet shop in my previous neighborhood! Everyone who works here is so friendly and kindhearted. The owner, Laura, is a wonderful woman who truly cares about the well being of her customers--both the furry ones and humans. I wanna take a minute to brag about this store I happened to visit completely by accident the other day! I spent 2 hours looking for a specific brand of premium puppy food, and all 4 stores that I visited failed to have that. Not only this store had the food needed, but I was also pleased to meet an amazing knowledgeable lady, who helped me a lot choosing the food for my loved ones, explaining the importance of different types, and guiding me in this world of pet stuff I still know so little about. I have never been in this store-I am in California. Because we all communicate on FB I know of them---and they of me...they know I do (cat) TNR and rescue work. I go thru lots and LOTS of food. One day UPS came to my back door and there sat a HUGE box from them. It contained lots and lots of food and other fun things for the cats. The hardest thing about writing this review is being able to keep it short since there is just so many wonderful things to say about Bark N' Bites. I have been a customer for a few months now and the experience has totally changed mine and my animals lives. I am an owner of a small and spunky shih tzu and an enormous and incredibly blasé orange tabby cat. After trying a bunch of different things for my dogs allergies I was talking to a friend about switching him to a grain free diet (specifically Stella and Chewy's). I called the pet store that I was going to regularly and they did not carry it so I figured I would give Bark N' Bites a call since I had recently seen the sign (which is not super visible. I had no idea they had been in the neighborhood so long.) I got Laura on the phone and explained to her what I was looking for and why and I'm pretty sure we talked for 30 minutes that day! She was incredibly helpful and genuinely interested in the health and well being of my animals. I have been a loyal customer ever since the first phone call. Based on Laura's recommendations I have been able to finally get my shih tzus allergies under control. In just a few months I have seen results that even my veterinarian didn't anticipate. Aside from being an adorable store front, Bark N' Bites carries everything one could possible need for fit and happy pets. Laura and all of the staff are amazing and not only super knowledgable but also incredibly patient and are always willing to go that extra mile for their customers. I cannot say enough great things about this place. They have a great selection of top quality food at prices that are better than Amazon, a huge treat selection, and high quality toys, harnesses, collars and leashes. My dog, Rhubarb, and I always feel so welcomed, and as most other reviews have said: everyone who works there is so helpful! I've never made a purchase and not gotten a free sample (which was especially great when we were switching her off of puppy food), and they usually give my dog a treat while we're there. The only sight downside is that their treat selection can be a little inconsistent for some brands, and it can be a little frustrating when your dog's favorite treats aren't in stock. That is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, everything else is just wonderful. read more

This a great store! Great location, prices are fair, but parking is a little tough. The staff is great, friendly and knowledgeable for your pets care and needs. So why the one star? Late September, I had lost my dog and she's still gone. She was a great dog! Kids loved her and the dog loved us back. It has to be one of the saddest moments of my life to lose her. We walked around the neighborhood for hours and days hanging, posting and handing out flyers. I went into B&B, because I shopped there, and asked if I may post a flyer on her window?? The owner refussed it! I could not believe it! I was ready, in hand with tape about to post. She simple told me to put the "lost dog" on Facebook. I just walked out in disbelief and felt very venerable by it and a slight of betrayal that a place, like this, would do this in my neighborhood to me and my family. The best store for your dog or cat's needs! I've always fed the feral cat colony behind my building. I grew attached to one cat in particular, Henri, who started to wait for me outside my door and started to hang out in our courtyard. As my attachment grew, I started to seek out healthier, better quality food to give him as treats. I happened upon Bark n' Bites on a walk to the Sox game one day and decided to hit it up. Laura informed me about the benefits of higher quality cat food, the importance of wet food, and gave me guidance in selecting a food to treat him with. When she heard about how I fed the ferals behind my building, she gave me a huge bag of dry cat food for free and a TON of samples to give to the ferals. Fast forward a couple years to 2017 when I adopted my dog. Of course, I came here for all his dietary needs. The brands they carry are typically pricier. But their prices are competitive with other stores who carry the same pricy brands. This is the only place near me that carries Answers which is a high quality frozen raw food. They order it for me every couple of weeks and will give me a call when the order comes in. The service is excellent, personable, and Laura & Kim are so knowledgable. They somehow manage to fit an extensive offering of food, treats, toys, supplements, etc. in their tiny store. If they don't have something you want, they can likely order it for you. I have even (on occasion) found them more helpful than my vet on day to day pet issues! They're pricing is very very comparable to the larger pet store chains (if not better in some cases) and I always seem to leave with free samples of great pet products every time I visit. It's a quality pet store that is always very accommodating and helpful. For example, I've even overheard them ordering items that they don't usual stock at the request of customers. There are definitely things you get from this neighborhood business that you can't get elsewhere. We have two dogs and a cat and, as a first time dog owner, I can't express how helpful it was to be able to get good recommendations and tips from the ladies at Bark and Bites. I've only been in this store once but I'll definitely be returning soon. The employer (owner maybe?) was super knowledgable and helpful. I just went in to browse but walked out with a handful of treats and poop bags. I love that they carry my dog's food brand but wish they did the frequent buyer card that Krisers does. Maybe they do but I didn't ask. It's specific to my brand (not Krisers) so it's possible. She also gave me some food samples because she was concerned that my dog didn't have any fish in her diet. Turns out my pup loved the fish so looking forward to trying that flavor next. Overall I thought the prices were very reasonable and they have a great selection! I loved the personal customer service and although someone else complained that they use Square, I love having the option getting my receipt emailed. I don't see what the big deal is. This place has a great selection of cat foods, treats, and toys! It's hard to find smaller pet stores that cater to cats almost as much as dogs and this place did not disappoint. We ran out of a food subscription and needed to get something fast for our Ragdoll. This place has a variety of wet foods and dry foods that were really high quality and raw options as well. Laura and Kim are the absolute best! My husband discovered this store a few years back and we haven't gone anywhere else since. Both women are very knowledgeable and beyond helpful! I have a cat with only 3 legs and I have to really watch his weight. They helped me get 2 lbs of my guy so there wasn't so much weight on his one back leg.
