My dog, Roxy, absolutely loves this place! The staff is incredibly caring and always treats the dogs with so much love and attention. I was considering taking my pet here and the call was perfectly fine until I asked to tour the facility. I was told the above and then when I asked what the projects were, out of genuine concern for my pets health, the woman on the phone began to get very hostile and condescending. I let her know that I just wanted to make sure that there was not any dust/wood/debris flying around that may harm my pet. Again, I was told the above. No straight answer. This is extremely shady! It is not to much to ask the condition of the place your pet will be staying for multiple days! I went to the reviews to see they've been saying this for quite some time. If you have nothing to hide, then there should be no problem showing the condition of your facility. If your facility is not fit for me to SEE then what makes it fit place for my pet to LIVE. read more

This place has been our life saver!!!!! It is privately owned and the mom and son duo are fabulous. We have two dogs, an English Mastiff and an English Bulldog. We rescued both and our big girl is a bit over protective at times so we have had problems finding good places to drop her off. This wonderful pet hotel's niche is taking care of dogs that may need a little extra TLC. They are fabulous with both our girls and our bigger girl is happy to get dropped off now. Also, their prices are AMAZING! We figured they would be extra costly but they are so reasonable and they don't break the bank. Our girls have stayed for just day drop offs and have spent up to 10 days with them. We trust them fully and could not be happier. read more

It's bothered me for some time that my dog was essentially banned from this daycare without any explanation. I hesitated writing this review since the owner seemed nice. t's just always felt abrupt and rather odd to get an email informing me that they couldn't take care of my dog anymore. They never offered a real explanation even after I asked what the reason was. I simply got an email stating that they were no longer able to take care of my dog due to ongoing construction and limited space availability. I knew that was not true. Shortly after I started taking my pup there they began upgrading and expanding. Every few weeks I could see the facility was slowly improving in space and even appearance. They told they were working on expanding. The logic here makes no sense. So you're expanding and it's clearly visible you are, but now there's limited availability and space? My pup had been coming here for almost 2 years. To be honest, I had come to depend of this place since I had no once else at the time to watch my pup. I just suggest in the future be upfront, honest, and transparent. If there was an issue with my dog or even me the professional thing would have been to speak to me in person. Cutting ties through an email with a vague reason was so unprofessional. Perhaps this review will bring some awareness on how to communicate with customers in the future. read more

The owner Coral, is very rude. She could not even say a good afternoon or good evening to my husband and I when we went to pick up our dogs. We travel often and we did not know more dog sitting places, so we always took them there. From the beggining to the end the lady was mean, she did not even look at my eyes. I do not want to think it is because my accent or because my husbands ethnicity. It feels weird to find comments here saying that she is soo nice. Ps. When I called to know how my babies were doing she literally replied "yes", "no", and soo anoyed. Even my husband said to me in multiple ocassions to not to call because she gets anoyed. I've been taking my dog here about twice every 45-60 days for the last year and a half, and I am always so grateful to have such a reliable, affordable, caring place to take my dog when I'm away. He's a Siberian husky and has had some troubles at other places who don't understand Huskies, but the staff at BB is always so caring and flexible with us. It's clear that my dog enjoys it here, and he is usually tired when he comes home so I feel good about the activity he gets while he's there. To address some of the specific reasons for previous poor reviews, I'd say that I had no problem setting up a tour when I started checking this place out, and that the staff has always done their best to accommodate. It's nice to support local business owners, and sometimes people get a little too picky with appearances and other things about fancy dog daycares that charge $$$$$. read more

Need a Four Seasons luxury venue for your dog? This might not be for you. BUT if you're looking for a flexible, reasonably-priced daycare or boarding option, with the nicest owners ever, look no further. We needed a daycare for a few days, so I purchased a $50 package deal they had advertised on their website. This was definitely the best price I found during my research, plus it's close to our place. I called ahead to get some advice on handing over my slightly-nervous rescue pup, and I got a great vibe from Bill on the phone. Appreciate how thorough they are with their paperwork, too! We ended up using 3 full days of daycare, and had a great experience. The exterior, yes, is a little sketchy. I got a quick tour of the inside and it's nothing to write home about, but that's not a huge deal to me. What matters is that Coral and Bill truly care about the dogs that come through their doors, and were awesome with our little Ginger. Thank you!! read more

Our dog is a rescue with an unknown history. He's strongly bonded to us, but is a little unsure around other dogs and people. After a couple of less than awesome experiences at various dog parks, our trainer suggested that perhaps we had skipped ahead a few steps and should try doggie daycare before the dog park. After doing our research, we decided to check out Bark Boulevard because of their positive reviews and because they are not too far from where we live. We got a tour of the facility before deciding to give them a try and figured that a few hours of daycare would be a good way to assess them. (We have an upcoming out of country honeymoon and with no family in town, boarding was looking like our best option, so we wanted to be prepared for that possibility.) Jasper has since been back for doggie daycare on about a weekly basis and we also boarded him for a weekend when we had to be out of town. I appreciate that we get a report when we pick him up (did he get along with the other dogs, was he more interested in people than dogs, did he eat normally, etc). I also appreciate that Bark Boulevard seems to have a pretty regular set of clients, so my slightly nervous pup has an easier time getting acclimated because he's met this pack before and doesn't need to be stressed about meeting new faces. Glad we came across this place! We have a Golden Retriever pup and let's just say we won't get our security deposit back because of her. Due to our work schedules, we didn't want to leave her in the crate for too long, so we decided to find a local daycare. I reached out to Coral and she was very thorough on what documents were needed to get our pup in. We visited the site beforehand, the place does need some sprucing up inside/outside but it wasn't enough to deter us. The exterior of the building is worn down but don't let that scare you! We purchased the $50 package to try it out for a few days and we loved it. Our pup is tired and it takes the stress away from coming home to a torn-up apartment! We've now signed up for the unlimited monthly package ($300) and take her in every weekday. To get the rate, you must also sign-up for the year membership ($178), this includes priority drop-offs, 2 overnight stays each month, and other stuff. This was the most reasonable package we could find and are so happy with Bark Boulevard. This is a family-run business, so they are very lax. Coral and Bill are super friendly. We boarded our dogs here for a weekend over a year ago. I waited until now to write the review because I thought maybe it was a fluke situation we had, but now I see others have gone through the same thing and people should be warned. When I asked to take a walk around the facility I was told "it wasn't a good time" so I never got to see where my dogs were staying. I also asked what kind of schedule they had for going out and they made it seem like they were let out 6 to 8 times a day. Our two dogs are potty trained and were about 3 years old at the time, when I returned to pick them up their beds were literally SOAKED in urine. They wreaked! There is no way they were let out multiple times a day and they know better than to urinate where they sleep. I will never return them to this facility again because to me that's borderline neglect/abuse. Also the staff's lack of professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. I don't recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Took my 6 month old puppy here for his first time overnight boarding, and I trusted my dog to be taken care of based on the raving reviews this place had. When we dropped my dog off, we asked to walk our dog to the room where he would be staying at and Coral said that "right now is not a good time, we have a few things going on". Not sure what that meant but we tried to not think much of it and left the puppy with her. Next day, we went to pick up our dog around 9am. Our puppy came out and peed a little which was a weird sight to us since he has never peed from excitement before. As soon as we walked out of the complex onto the street, he peed and pooped the most we had ever seen right away which indicated that he hadn't been taken out that morning at all! She said that they would be let out in the morning between 6-8am and I was extremely disappointed that my poor puppy had been holding for probably close to 12 hours. And on top of this, my puppy had diarrhea all day which made us question what he was eating while he was there. I will never take my dog back to Bark Boulevard ever again, I am extremely disappointed that he was not taken care of and had an upset stomach all day after leaving there. I also think they need to have more than just two people working there in order to take care of the amount of dogs they take in. read more

I am so glad I did my homework on this one. We were visiting places to board our dog and went to have a look. I will never, ever leave my dog there. The place is beyond disgusting. The kitchen sink was overflowing with dirty dishes and the smell was unbearable. The dogs are kept in separate rooms and none of the dogs were outside so I asked about the schedule. Basically, the dog go out by themselves on rotation every 4 hours for a maximum of 2 hours per day. That's it. The rest of the time they are alone in their room. Some rooms didn't even have water bowls. I have no interest in keeping my dog inside for 22 hours per day and have him outside ALONE for only 2 hours. There is no way. I would rather pay double the price and have something clean and actually decent. It's not worth for me to keep my dog miserable with strangers who clearly have no concept of basic hygiene. read more

Here is what I'm basing a majority of my 5 star review on...the reaction our dogs have the moment we pull up to Bark Boulevard. They are soooooo excited to get inside. They start whining and scratching at the window as we park. And once they're out of the car they are literally PULLING us to the door. We've used Bark Boulevard a few times and have been very happy with the care they've provided our 2 Shiba Inus. They always seem to enjoy their little vacation every time we pick them up. As stated in other reviews, this is not the most high tech facility. There are no mounted cameras in each room. There isn't a vet on call 24 hours a day just in case. But Coral and her son live on site so someone is always with the dogs. I also like that the dogs aren't crated. Even though our dogs are crate trained, they have free run of the house most of the time so it's nice that they have that sort of freedom when we leave them there. We also failed to provide enough food one time and they fed our dogs the same brand of food free of charge. It's true, Coral doesn't always respond to emails right away and you won't get detailed reports with pictures or video from her or her son about how your dog is doing. You may get a response like, "They're doing fine. No problems." And that's it. If you want more detail then this may not be the place for you. But, I figure if the dogs were mistreated then they wouldn't be excited to go back there. Our dogs are like our kids and if something bad was happening to them there we'd notice in their behavior. But as I stated, Mika and Kayo seem to love their time at Bark Boulevard. And that's good enough for me. read more

I really wanted to give Bark Boulevard a try, but never got a chance. After reading about them online, they sounded like a good fit for our pup's needs. I called and spoke with Bill, who is super nice and scheduled a time to come by and visit the place. It seemed like an OK place -- clean, but not sterile. The problem was that I asked Bill if I could reserve some dates to board my dog. He said I'd need to speak to his mom. I had already emailed her once with no response. He said he'd have her call me back. A few days later, no call back. I call and speak to Bill again -- his mom is not available, but he'll have her call me back. Another day, same old story. I call another time and leave a message. I send another email. Crickets. At that point I felt like if I can't get a hold of them after more than a week to schedule an appointment, how can I trust them with my dog? Unfortunately for Bark Boulevard, they have lost my business, but I ended up using Rover.com to find a great sitter, so it worked out even better for me. read more

This is a long review, but this whole thing was a big deal to me (and my dog)! I was wrecked with guilt after I FINALLY, heart-wrenchingly decided to board my dog for the very first time (he's 7!). Thanks to reliable yelpers, I found Bark Boulevard and scrambled to get copies of vaccinations and everything in time before I left town. While boarding is not my first choice, I felt as good as I could about it after the numerous great reviews of Bark Boulevard and getting a nice tour from Coral beforehand. My boy wasn't shaking during the tour (like he does at the vet) and he was already sniffing around the toybox, so I took this as a good sign. Dogs that are boarding all get their own little private room. Some have TVs and even some furniture. They get their own private time in the yard and group play time, and they separate big dogs and little dogs. I was happy to know that he wouldn't be shoved in a little cage for 2 nights. There are little sally ports set up all over so there's no way your dog can "escape"! Alright, so, I drop my boy off with his current favorite toys, a blankie that smells like me, his meals portioned and divided, and A LOT of treats. All the comforts of home, minus me. Coral said I could call anytime - and I did. When I finally came to pick him up (longest 2 days of his life, I'm sure), I was touched that she mentioned several distinct personality traits of my dog, which told me that she did spend a good amount of time with him. Aww. We also left with all of his toys and the blankie. What a relief to know he was well taken care of while I was away! I won't be boarding him again unless I have to, but when I do, I will DEFINITELY come back to Bark Boulevard, and recommend it to anyone looking for a good, safe place to board their dog. I also will probably sign my dog up for some daycare time here, too, for times when I have training for work or whatever. As another reviewer mentioned a webcam, I would also have loved a little text picture or something of him once a day! Man, I missed him SO much! :) read more

Great local business (owned and run by Carol and her son) that is competing in a very crowded market here in San Diego. Bark Boulevard offers lower prices than most places I checked out. It doesn't offer as many services and amenities as other places, but it suits my needs very well. I like their simple business model. For boarding for example, you pay for however many nights your dog stays there and it doesn't matter what time you drop your pet off or pick him up. The owners live on the premises and are the ones taking care of your pet, which another plus on my books. At night dogs sleep in their own individual rooms. It seems to be a new business, so I expect to experience some growing pains. If you're looking for a luxury pet resort, this is not it. The location is fairly simple, but that's OK with me since all I'm looking for is a boarding place that will take great care of my dog and not charge me an arm and a leg. read more

I was very pleased with my experience with bark boulevard. During the time of stay I had my dog for about 6 months and had never left him for vacation. Bill and Coral were very friendly and accommodating. They gave me a tour of the facility and all the dogs seemed happy in their private rooms. They sold me on multiple key features: They didn't require an extensive pre stay behavioral evaluation you had to pay for. No extra fees for outdoor and play time which was 3-4 times a day The price was all inclusive and they even gave me one night free for being a first time customer. They have very flexible pickup and drop off times. I believe it was drop off/pickup as early as 7am and late as 10pm. No charges for an extra day as long as you pickup before 10pm. Someone on site 24/7. They live upstairs so someone is always on the property. I felt like their business was their lives and that they genuinely cared for the animals at the facility. Private clean rooms some of which even had furniture. It was hard leaving my dog for the first time but after picking him up from his 5 day stay he seemed to be his normal happy healthy self. This place has everything your dog needs for an overnight stay and I would highly recommend giving them a try. read more

My Sunnyboy LOVES his Aunt Coral and Uncle Bill!! We've been coming here for the past year and a half for daycare/occasional boarding and he is thrilled *every time* we pull up. Coral and Bill are both exceptional with their absolute focus on the wellbeing and safety of the dogs! They are so mindful and in tune as there are many puppy personalities. Legit dog people; they definitely speak Dawglish or Puppanese. At drop off, you could not find a more excited pup - all wiggly and tail wagging. Makes me feel so good seeing him get so excited as we are driving up! At drop off, we see Aunt Coral with her signature hello and pets. After a quick lean/cuddle on Aunt Coral, Sunny marches on in for the day. Uncle Bill is our usual evening greeter telling me how Sunny's day was and if he made some new friends (y'all ...my heart!). With work and graduate school, I have had some very late evenings and Bark Boulevard has honestly gone above and beyond making sure Sunny has everything he needs on late nights for me. Making themselves available, AND remembering Sunny's little health quirks - honestly Coral and Bill have become like family in how much they mean to us. To know my pup is so well taken care of has been such a gift for me (as a transplant). I feel so blessed that Sunny and I are part of the Bark Boulevard family. Ok, so it looks super sketch when you pull up, but it's really nice inside! And the prices are unbeatable. I take my doggy here for boarding, and all the dogs get their own decorated room with furniture, a TV, etc. Their second-dog discount (if you have two dogs who can share a room) is the best. The outside playtimes are separated by dog size and activity level. Since the owners live upstairs, they allow you to pick up your dog anytime, without a late/early pickup fee. They really don't have any extra fees that most other places have (like daycare fees when you're already paying for boarding). The owners are nice, their prices are cheap, and their policies are just so freaking convenient. Also, I think my dog likes it here--the owner has sent me pictures of him playing, which he doesn't really do that often because he's kinda antisocial. Highly recommended. read more

So, so happy we found Bark Boulevard! We recently decided to try a pet hotel after our in-home sitter suddenly moved away. I thought a pet hotel wouldn't be an option for us because I preferred the idea of cage-free boarding, but one of our two dogs has never been friendly with other dogs. I couldn't stand the thought of him being locked up in a small kennel all day. I had a reservation at another place that wanted nearly double the price to keep the dogs in a tiny room and only let them out for breaks 3 times per day (and you had to pay extra for any special attention or play time!). It sounded pretty awful to me but the place had decent reviews online and I felt desperate. But then I found Bark Boulevard and decided to check it out! Bark Boulevard has cute spacious rooms (actual rooms!) for the dogs, and a great outdoor area for playtimes. Coral was willing to give Cosmo separate play times from the other dogs so he was still able to go outside and get plenty of attention. This last time, she was even able to mix him in with other small dogs for play times! We've taken them back a few more times, and every time I can tell the dogs had a great time! Coral is also very flexible about pick up and drop off times which is perfect for travel, especially when we've had flight delays. I used to dread leaving our dogs and worry the whole time I was gone, but I don't worry at all when they are at Bark Boulevard! I know that our dogs are having a great time and it's really a fun little vacation for them! read more

I was highly impressed with bark boulevard. I left my pups here for a long weekend as I traveled and had full faith they were getting the best treatment. The best part is the fact that so much paper work was needed to prove your dog was healthy. It was definitely a pain to hunt down vet records to prove my dogs were "Clean", but knowing they check all the dogs before letting them stay lets me know my dogs will not catch something while there. I usually make plans for my dogs to stay at home or my parents house, but when neither of those is feasible, I will bring them back to bark boulevard. read more

Don't recommend at all. First, I called to make an appointment to tour the facility. The son told me I only needed to bring current vaccine records if my dog came with. We walked up to the front door and the smell of urine where the dogs are kept was overwhelming. Next, I met the owner, the mother, who proceeded to tell me I needed a current fecal sample. We love this place! We vacation in San Diego and occasionally drop our dogs here as we come into town. Coral and her son are very accommodating and listened to my concerns about my babies. I forgot food once and she fed the same brand which I loved. They have even given my dogs the same "room" so the experience is familiar. I feel like my dogs are safe, loved, and taken care of. We are so happy and thrilled that we have finally found some place in San Diego that we can trust like family (or even better than family!) to take care of our 2 small dogs. We've taken our dogs to the daycare and also for boarding (over Thanksgiving for 4 nights) and they have been very happy for both stays. For daycare, they play the dogs and have them hang out in a lounging area near the front. For boarding, they have decorated suites with fun, inviting colors and TV and has a tall, sturdy gate. They have a consistent routine with the dogs and play small dogs and large dogs separately. They will keep dogs in the same family together and feed them their own personal food! Some of our favorite things about Bark Boulevard: - They are very obviously dog people and the dogs' reaction to them is clear: our dogs seemed happy to come home or could have stayed a few more nights! - They do not let customers come in and out and lock the door to ensure that no dogs run out into the street. - You get a full tour prior to leaving your dogs there! - They have open pick up and drop off times (of course, provide prior notice) as they live on the premises! - For our recent boarding experience, Coral (the main owner) mentioned they had over 20 dogs boarding, but still managed to send us e-mail updates and a picture of the dogs playing!
