This place is really cute. I was a lil disappointed because we booked the container, which we really wanted to try for the first time but looks like they were having some heater issues so they offered to upgrade us to the king cabin and it was really nice. The facilities is quite small but they have a lil fire pit and some games you can play outside if the weather is good. The ladies on the reception were very friendly. The only couple things I didn't like was that they cabins are too close to each other and there ia no privacy. And the other thing was the wall heater was set to a temperature and we couldn't make it warmer. They had a space heater but it was a very cold night and I was still cold inside. read more

I'm writing in regard to the King Cabin Suite-- I took away a star for a couple reasons. The bathroom sink water tasted/smelled like moth balls, which was weird. The bed definitely needs new pillows, as the current ones are very lumpy. Upon arrival, the concierge was very welcoming and made a special point to explain how the hotel has a partnership with Paul Thomas Chocolates in Dahlonega. She gave us a coupon that said (and she very explicitly said) it was good for one free piece of chocolate bark *per person* in the party, so my partner and I were entitled to a total of 2 free pieces of chocolate. When we took the coupon to the chocolate shop, the young man working there refused to honor it. He said he had always been told to give one piece of chocolate only. We asked him to read the coupon again because this was not what it stated, nor was it what the concierge said. He still refused. My boyfriend told him that the partnership needed to fix their coupons if they weren't going to honor them. Anyway, the cabin was clean and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable other than the pillows. Sheets were buttery soft. Overall I was happy with our stay. read more

Great place to stay the night before your AT hike. Place is very clean, owners very friendly and hospitable. They'll take you to the trail in the morning and give you God advice on how to complete your thru hike. Would definitely use them again, was very happy with price and service. Barefoot Hills - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Dahlonega, Georgia

After seeing the movie Hostel I really did not want to stay here but through family obligations I was forced to. I am really glad I did. We stayed even though we are not hikers for my aunts birthday. There were several ladies staying and we all had a blast. The hostel is a cute, clean cabin with a great deck and fire pit. You also have your own kitchen down stairs. The owners and very nice people who prepare a great breakfast in the morning. There is one private room that you can snag with its own bathroom. All the other rooms are open to the public so you might have to bunk with a hiker. We went to several wine tastings in the area during the fall time when the trees where beautiful. The wine tastings were actually fun and yummy. There are a few good places to eat around here a well. Check it out! read more

Hiker hostel in Dahlonega is a great place to stay. Here are a few reasons why: -The house is beautiful, huge, well decorated and clean. -There are only 4 beds per bunk room, which decreases your chances of getting a snorer and increases your chances of a good nights sleep. -A good sized, healthy, vegetarian breakfast is included in the price of stay. -There are 2 Televisions in separate common areas, one of which streams Netflix, and the other plays DVD and VHS. There are many films to choose from! -There are clean sheets on every bed. -There are three giant patios. -An internet computer is provided. -The staff, although busy, were cordial (although not very interested in travelers.) -Packages can be shipped without surcharge. -They have a shuttle. -There is a full kitchen to cook in. The only issue I had was with the location; the hostel is located pretty far from town, and the only food delivery was nasty Chinese food. The do shuttle, though, I just wish they'd work out a deal with other food delivery places! I would recommend that anyone who wants to sleep cheaply, cook their own food, and socialize with fellow travelers come here! read more

Hiker Hostel made my first hostel experience an unforgettable one. The owners are so hospitable, laid-back, and friendly. They offer shuttle rides to different areas for a fee after their awesomely, complimentary home cooked breakfast. There are plenty of bunk rooms, private rooms, and private housing around the premises. Also a great location near breathtaking views such as Amicalola Falls, Blood Mountain, the European town Helen, and more. I stayed for 4 days and 3 nights with four buddies of mine. We all enjoyed the accommodations and appreciated how clean the bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, and everywhere were. Very affordable and worth the experience of staying somewhere so close to strangers. It was fun and interesting learning about and getting to know the stories of others and what brought them there as well. All my future hostel stays are going to be put to high standards after my stay here! I will definitely be back. read more

Since my last review, I have stayed there a couple more times. Once again with my girlfriend, and the last time as a solo section hiker on the Appalachian Trail. Just as every other time, great service with a smile. Was able to utilize their shuttle service from the hostel to the Springer Mountain parking lot. Very reasonably priced as they take the total amount and divided evenly among everyone in the van. We had a total of 5 people shuttling that morning. I would definitely recommend them for a comfortable overnight stay before hitting the trail. read more

We were looking for unique accommodations, and we found it! We stayed in the deluxe eco cabin, and it was perfect. Enough space for 2 of us to spread out, and the view from the porch is breathtaking. We had coffee made in the kitchenette enjoying the view before venturing out for hikes. Only a 10 minute drive to the town of Dahlonega, and less than 30 to Cleveland and Helen. We'll stay here again! Only complaints- no dish soap in the kitchenette and staff weren't wearing masks when we checked in. read more

Great hostel. Very clean. Stay includes a hot breakfast. Very reasonably priced. Actually an excellent value. They have a shuttle service from Marta North Springs (perhaps Gainesville also but not sure) and all gaps in GA. My pickup from Marta was as scheduled. On the way to hostel from Marta, there was a 30 minute stop at Wal-Mart for any last minute supplies and/or dinner for that night. The hostel only serves breakfast but there is pizza delivery. I liked that everything was on time; shuttle pickup (both at Marta and at Wal-Mart) and breakfast. They have boxes available for shipping stuff home or a bounce box. There is selection of hiker gear for sale. The owners were busy but very pleasant and accommodating. I wish they sold beer. You can buy at Wal-Mart but minimum was a 6-pack or share with another hiker. Think this is a missed opportunity but not enough to detract from an excellent hostel. read more

Stayed there on our hike on the Georgia section of the AT. They have all the accommodations you need. Prices are affordable. We paid $42 for a private suite. I think bunks are $18 a night. They offer a shuttle service for a fee for the next day. They are located a few miles away from the Mountain Crossing at Neel Gap, so you'll need to either get a ride or call in advance to get to their place. They book up early in the peak season. The house has wifi and breakfast is included. You can do your laundry for $3 a load. They have a few free items other hikers/bikers have left behind in case you need them. Papa Johns delivers pizza to their place. Breakfast was good. Josh and Leigh were really nice. read more

My new favorite place to stay in Georgia! Calling it a hostel is very misleading; it's low-key but EXTREMELY comfortable, with all the amenities you might need, and the proprietors are incredibly professional and friendly. I stayed in one of their "eco cabins" -- a beautifully appointed corrugated-steel shipping container with hand-built wood detailing, tile kitchenette, super comfortable bed, two big sliding-glass doors, wood deck, and lots of privacy (you walk through the woods up a manicured path to get to it). It looks like something you'd see in Architectural Digest magazine. The price can't be beat -- I've stayed at other places in this area but this will definitely be my home away from home in the future. Absolutely perfect for anyone looking for luxury on a budget! read more

This was a great weekend. We stayed in the deluxe shipping container. Awesome view and the inside was adorable. It was raining so we did not get to sit on our cute patio and enjoy the views but I would like to return in better weather. It is a little walk to this one but worth it. read more

Barefoot Hills is wonderful! We had a wonderful stay, as this place is perfectly located for a hike, a visit into town, or an afternoon of wine tasting. We did all of this, and more, and the staff was very accommodating in assisting with directions or suggestions for things to do. We even saw Dahlonega's 4th of July parade and we did a little Kayaking, all with the help of the Barefoot Hills shuttle...thanks, Eric!! We'll definitely be coming back for a visit to Dahlonega, and we will look forward to staying at Barefoot Hills...a true gem, with beautiful mountain views, in North Georgia. read more
