2023/2024 Hate to admit that I'm aging (wish it was like fine wine) butttttt truth is.....I've always been somewhat insecure in my appearance after I became a mommy over a decade ago. I've been following Bare Studios on Instagram (@bare_studio_) for over year and finally made an appointment with Lynette at Bare Studios to learn more about the SMP (scalp micro pigmentation) process. My hair over the years has become thinner and thinner and it was becoming more visible as I look back on pictures. I was nervous about SMP in general - the process, pain and recovery. I wanted to know everything especially any side effects. I met with Lynette in person last year for a consult and she was so welcoming and patient with me in answering all my questions. On a scale from 1-10 on pain, it's probably a 2. You can feel it but it's not painful at all (at least not to me). My first appointment was about 1.5hrs. I've struggled with scars for a few years now. Unfortunately I got a really nasty infection that left me with really ugly, deep, dented, hyperpigmented scars. I started to develop severe stretch marks at around 14 y/o and I've tried a variety of different creams, even considered laser treatment but none seemed to lead to promising results. I nearly gave up hope until I found Lily, and she is an absolute godsend!! Lily's work ethic is phenomenal- she's so funny, sweet, knowledgeable and very thorough about the entire procedure. Her keen eyes will find and cover stretch marks you didn't even know you had LOL! No matter how self conscious you may feel about your stretch marks, Lily does a great job at making sure you feel comfortable. Duration: In total, I've booked 2 sessions, each session was roughly 2.5-3 hours. To be honest, the sessions flew by so quick with how easily we connected and our hilarious convos! Pain: The pain is very minimal. On a scale of 1-10, it's at most a 3 or 4. For context, I don't have a strong pain tolerance and this procedure was very much bearable for me. She was also consistently checking in with me to see how I'm feeling! Healing: Immediately after the procedure, you're expected to slightly swell in the area you had done, but I didn't swell all too much. It fully subsided by day 2. Ahhh, I'm very excited to share in my experiences with Bare Studio and having Lily work on my troubled areas. A bit of background on me: I am a 37 year old Asian woman, with stretch marks on the buttocks area, of which started when I was 17. I was a very thin girl and so my first pregnancy experienced very deep ( and traumatizing might I add) tissue scarring from the stretch marks. Over the years I tried to use creams and scrubs to help alleviate the aesthetics and texture but it never helped- I was at a point where I just had to accept that stretch marks were a part of our growth as women/ mothers and just being human! 20 years passed and when I started to hear about camouflage tattoo, I felt the concept was intriguing. I've had stretch marks on my outer thighs and butt ever since my teenaged years. It was never a big annoyance, until now. I used to wear basketball shorts a lot, and those are long and covered my stretch marks. But now I like wearing shorts that stop above my knees. It just looks right since I'm a middle aged man.
