LA traffic be damned, I drive all the way the hell to OC to be groomed. I first met the owner, Mel, at a charity event where she was giving free facials to cancer patients. Lovely! Long story short, I have been seeing her monthly (sometimes twice a month) for Dermalogica facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and some mind-blowingly brilliant massage. I live near the Mecca of spas, salons, and new-fangled beauty treatments. Yes, some of them are pretty great, but none of them have the personality that Mel does, who is ridiculously great at distracting me during the less comfortable stuff. Nor do they offer the same value I get at Bare Skin Studio even with gas costing $77 a gallon. I still miss that kidney I sold to pay for my last eyebrow wax and microdermabrasion session in Beverly Hills. Funny enough, the majority of her clients are men. I learned much later that she actually specializes in hair removal for the fellas. Brozilian waxing? Who knew that was even a thing? Clearly it is, and it's extremely popular. Where have I been? Hanging out with hairy Neanderthals, clearly. Savages! She tells me that the majority of spas don't want any part of 'Manscaping' because most female aesthetician's aren't comfortable with it. Boys are gross, I get it, but nothing makes Mel squeamish so I kinda get how this has become her forte. Bless her soul. Being a tad hyper-paranoid about disease, Mel won my adoration when I saw that she uses medical grade sanitizing equipment and never double-dips. Male waxing is a service that most salons do not offer and if they do, they are not very proficient at it. There are very few places in Orange county that would provide full service manscaping. Most traditional waxing studios would only do legs, chests, arms and backs for men, but when you're looking for that something extra, good luck getting it. What made me choose this place over the other was the fact that Mel had lots of information available online and wasn't shy about the details. Additionally her location is near the center of Orange county so the drive to and from there isn't so bad. I found her to be personable and patient when it came to answering all my questions. Cleanliness- 10 of 10. The sheets are changed between sessions. There's never any double dips. Gloves worn during the procedure. Price - 10 of 10. The prices are comparable to traditional studios. She doesn't charge extra just because she's one of the few shops in town that would do male waxing. Speed/Efficiency- 10 of 10. Most sessions take about an hr for one area. She tries her best to keep the appointments on schedule. I've only had to wait in the spa next door once, for the most part she greets you right at the door when you arrive for your appointment. Lastly, Mel keeps up-to-date with the products she uses. If she finds something that works better than what she currently has, she'll replace it. My last session was a lot less irritating because of that. I've yet to try the other services she offers but I'm sure it's a lot more relaxing than having hot wax smeared all over my sensitive bits. :0 read more

5 stars is not enough for Mel. What a wonderful person and a great business! One of the rare women to cater to men and she does it in such a relaxed atmosphere. I just spent 4 hours there today and it was incredible. Mel gave me the full body shave and also did an ear, nose and butt crack wax. I was tentative at first but in about 2 minutes Mel had me relaxed and comfortable just chatting to me and the entire time was great. I then finished with a body scrub and massage which culminated a wonderful experience. Prior to my leaving, Mel went over some points of how to take care of my skin and I set up my next appointment. My husband gets his brozillian done by Mel every 6 weeks. I suggested he get a brozillian on numerous occasions. At first he was reluctant to get it done, but after he had a bad ingrown from shaving, he switched over to the brozillian life.
