I wish I could rate Maryam higher, and it makes me sad to write low reviews for small business owners. But after my interaction with her just to set up an appointment, I cannot recommend her. Here's how my interaction with her went down: 11/3 morning: I call her and ask her for her availability. I also say that I have a Groupon for a wash, haircut, deep conditioning, and blow dry. She asks if I've read the fine print, and I say no. She lets me know that if I have long hair (which I do), it's $20 extra. I didn't want to pay the extra $20, so we agree on a deal to do a haircut and blow dry only (no deep conditioning) without any additional charge on top of the Groupon. She says to come in at 5:15pm, and I say okay. 11/3 noon: she calls me back and basically says she cannot honor the deal we made in the morning. She says to come in so she can examine my hair and see what the actual cost will be. There's NO way I'm spending time driving to a salon and sitting in her chair for her to tell me some additional charge amount that we didn't previously agree to. At this point, I know I'm getting the run-around and I'm not okay with it. I tell her that we agreed to a deal, and she responds by telling me that she won't make money off of our original deal and that's she can only really have time to do a wash and haircut... and MAYBE a blow dry. I'm not walking out with wet hair, no thanks. That's not even close to the original Groupon service I paid for. She then tells me that if I'm not happy with that, then I should refund my Groupon, and pay her upfront $45 and she can do the wash, haircut, and blow dry. Okay at this point, I KNOW I'm getting the run-around and I'm tired of these scheming sales tactics. I understand she wants to cover her overhead costs in running the business, but sorry Maryam, you can't expect to get a profit (IN THE SHORT RUN) when you're offering your services through Groupon. Now, in the LONG RUN, I could have been a loyal customer, along with all the friends/family I could have referred to you. Well, after all this, I do NOT recommend this salon/Maryam to anyone. It's not because she's not a good hairstylist (well I guess I can't say either because that appointment fell through...), but simply because I do not respect the way she runs her business or treats customers, regardless if their Groupon customers or not. I treated her fairly and respectfully, we agreed on a deal, and she went back on her word in order to preserve her profit margin. It speaks loudly of the way she runs her business, and I don't support these types of business owners. ---- In response to her reply: Yes, Groupon has a fine print. It says additional charge may be added depending on hair length/density. I'm not upset about this. What I am upset about is that we agreed on a deal to do the wash, haircut, blow dry and NO deep conditioning for NO extra charge on top of my Groupon. She ended up NOT honoring this new deal (had to call me back at noon), and that's what I'm not okay with. Not only did she not honor this deal, but the second time she called, she was trying to make me choose between eliminating items from the deal OR refund the Groupon and pay her $45 upfront. Basically, she's unhappy with the first deal she made because she's losing more money than she wants to. As you can tell from her reply, I'm still getting a run around, and she's not addressing the actual issue here. read more

Maryam is great! I love the result of my keratin treatment. Although, initially, I was quite disappointed in the sticky residue the GK hair keratin left in my hair. Maryam was gracious enough to give me another round of flat ironing to really infuse the product in each strand. I could only keep it on for 2 days before washing it off but it turned out amazing. My hair looks so shiny and smooth. I tied my hair up and that left pleasant dents of waviness in my hair. It's perfect! Overall the best keratin treatment I've had. I called the salon for appointment at least a week before, spoke to Maryam. I told her my schedule is open and I will adjust with her availability. She scheduled me 10/31/2020 @ 1400H. On the scheduled date she send me a message @ 1310H stating that she is really behind and can't see me. I was on my way to her salon at that time, so I have to turn around to go back home. I find this very unprofessional and inconsiderate. I have no intention of rescheduling nor will try their services. read more

This business doesn't deserve any star. I bought a Groupon voucher because of good deal and good reviews. When calling to make an appointment, Mary said that Groupon vouchers do not benefit her employees significantly so she asked me to call later. I even offered to make an appointment a week later. In this case, she replied by saying that I should call a day before preferred day to see if there was any appointment for Groupon customer. This basically made me realize that you are not a priority for this business if you have a Groupon voucher. The most surprising thing was that she was willing to make an appointment if I came straight to her business (i.e. without Groupon voucher). Why do they partner with Groupon if they are reluctant to work with Groupon customers? Stop wasting other people's time if you have reservations about discounts. I feel sorry for her employees who could have gotten a business of new customers. read more

I'm the kind of person that goes in for a service and also advice, they are the pros and I trust their education more than google and Instagram...at my age, I've learned my lessons with fads and messageboards. She recommended a vitamin treatment, balayage, and a hefty trim. She is a lovely person with a sweet energy. And she was also upfront about price and extra charges. My hair is long and thick, so I know what to expect. Double whammy but it is totally fair because it takes more time. On the day of my appt, she welcomed me and got to work. From 11:30 to after 5 o'clock, Maryam took my hot mess hair to sleek and smooth. The dead ends are gone and it moves like it hasn't in a long time. And the color, I look like I surf for a living. Yes!She brought my dark brown locks to a shade of gold that matches the gold in my eyes PERFECTLY. I have already gotten three compliments and it's only been an hour. Yes, she does sell products and offer additions, as do most salons, but no pressure. And I appreciate how direct she is, and that she also appreciates that kind of communication. If I didn't want something, I said no, no problem. Not only did she do wonderful things for my moptop, she made me coffee and a veggie and meat plate. Purchased Groupon for highlights and haircut total $110. When I called to schedule appmt lady said it would cost more money if it takes more than an hour. Well of course it takes more than an hour! Very quick response and she was able to get my daughter in with very short notice. Mary has over 30 yrs experience and it shows! He hair cutting skills are superb and cut it exactly how we wanted it. Address on Yelp is not accurate. She is located at Sola Salon across from Big Lots, where Slators 50/50 used to be. What a life saver Maryam was! She has late hours which was perfect since all threading studios were closed. Maryam was so sweet, and accommodating. Her space is cozy, and laid out very efficiently. The full face thread took about 30min and she charged $40 since it was a "maintenance" session. If you need a late appointment or a last minute walk-in, she's your gal. read more

First the lady told me not to purchase Groupon coupon and pay that amount directly..that where the game begins . Once u enter the salon , she will add on something or the other and add on to your cost . I took a keratin coupon where she mentioned about different quality product at different price. Once she told me total price for the service , I got my service done which I felt she didn't give much time (coz it didn't give me that effect after first wash ) . I felt cheated and lastly she told me that I will have to give 20% service charge . I think service charge depends on the customer to provide .Nevertheless , I was not satisfied with the effect of the keratin treatment as well . After several edited reviews from Mary, jfyip- it's not yet 3 months dear that I hv got my treatment done and the effect of treatment is not there at all .. so pl understand that it was not done well rather writing several answers and editing to mention that you have happy customers or you always do great service . I had a Brazilian blowout about 2 years ago and it only lasted about 2 months but I got it from another salon. I went on groupon to find a deal for keratin since I didn't really like the Brazilian blowout. I stumbled upon 8&8 salon and decided to give this a try. Super happy how my hair turned out. Not sure why I saw bad reviews on here for being charged $20 more dollars for hair length and thickness when you are already getting a big discount using groupon. Maryam did not listen to my request for a one-inch trim. Instead, she cut three inches off and left my hair uneven. She also waited until after she had finished the cut to try to renegotiate the price - I had found a Groupon deal for $29, but she told me that there was a $10 additional fee for long hair, which was not mentioned in the Groupon details. Throughout the appointment she stopped what she was doing to text, and took photos of my hair while she was cutting it without asking permission first. She sat down on the chair behind me while cutting and drying my hair, which explains why it is uneven. She also tried to tell me to come back later in the day for a $50 deep-conditioning treatment. I found a Groupon for Keratin treatment and I was at my limit dealing with my thick, wavy,frizzy hair! I called and Maryam was so pleasant and accommodating. She got me right in that day. I upgraded to the Brazilian Blowout because it lasts longer and is stronger. I've had 2 Keratin treatments in the last 18 months and the last one did not seem to do anything. Maryam was very kind, pleasant and understood my hair. She noticed some errors in my last haircut and fixed them! Now my hair is cooperating much better and laying right. I could not figure out what was wrong before, turns out one side was 1 inch longer and the layers were not blended. She also fixed my bands from the last cut, they are 100% better! Mary is such and INCREDIBLE person! She did an amazing job with my keratin treatment my hair looks so soft and shiny (I have crazy puffy hair). I am a male with very curly hair. Like a Brillo Pad! No matter what i put in it the curl would not relax. 8&8 has a relaxer that actually gave me hair I could comb and style.
