But then I speak to the staff and suddenly they make things ok again. They're are happy, friendly and helpful. The stop me from calling important people and shouting. They solve all of my issues and generally, somehow give me money when I apparently don't have any. See - I told you they were nice. I come out of here happy. But only becuase of the satff and the fact you don't have to queue up for hours. Otheriwse it's just Lloyds bank. And I don't like them at all.

I like it here!…read more I got served FREAKISHLY quickly for one of the busiest times of the day and I managed to get all my questions asked too! In about 45 minutes! When this included paying bills, opening a new online account and changing my account details, I was amazed! Staff were friendly and helpful, the layout is great and the private areas felt just like that! I'm using this place for all my banking now!

The cash machine being situated on the corner is great because you can see just who is walking by on either side which for your own security measures is great. Haven't used it for more sit down purposes yet but for the brief check ins on the way to the train station, its situated well at the end of the Lewisham High Street.
They have finally re-opened this branch after about half a year of refurbishing and personally I am…read moreunsure about the new look or layout. The entire branch now seems to be full of a miscellany of kiosks, from self pay in, ATM machines as well as phones to reach the call center for phone banking. Fair enough in that the increased number of kiosks means queuing time is greatly reduced when I had to pay in any cheques. Not had to get direct help or support from a member of staff so far, but last time I was there, I did not notice many members of staff on the floor - so not sure how easy it would be. My overall opinion would be very functional - hence the 4 stars, but the feeling is not as friendly

So I come in to the branch on the next Monday and was told the banker isn't in and to try again on Wednesday. as i try to explain the conversation I had over the phone just a few says ago I was interrupted and simply told again to come in another day with no explanation as to why the banker is only available 2 out of 5 working days or why they weren't in the day i was instructed to come. The Wednesday rolls around and I'm at the branch once again. Surprise surprise they tell me to come back at 1:30pm, as the banker was currently out at that moment, which okay, is pretty fair considering it was lunch time for most. When i return an hour later, i'm told to wait a few minutes and they'll be with me a moment. 20 minute pass and I'm still sat there wondering how on earth these people are allowed to handle money. As I get up and walk over to the desks to ask how much longer it would be. The lady behind it, without even looking up mumbled "desk is closed". Now keeping in mind there are 5 workers (well 4, one run out after a child to ask where he had gotten his shoes from, then later return to have a discission about them with 2 other workers), 3 customers including myself, and it's now 2pm.... Walked out frustrated. Your money would be safer under your mattress than with these guys. Horrible service, extremely unhelpful and I'm actually glad I decided not to bank with them.
HSBC
Not to be confused with the nearby branch and head office which is a huge tower in the Canary Wharf…read morecomplex within London which for some reason has its' own Yelp listing, HSBC at Jubilee Place is their physical tangible bricks and mortar retail store where customers can go about their day to day banking. The store is located close to Vision Express, is a short walk away from the Underground Station and it is a pretty modern store with a good number of ATM's, it's just a shame it was so hard to find a staff member. The opening hours are pretty basic between 9 and 5, opening half an hour later on Tuesday's and not at all on weekends. Considering Canary Wharf is a very businessy "banking" part of the city, I think the hours are okay because the whole area never seems too busy at weekends anyway, especially compared to the rest of the city where they do have branches which are open longer. They do try to add a slight digital banking emphasis here, the branch is certainly not old-fashioned, hideous, dull and boring which I find common with many HSBC stores - HSBC and TSB are two of the banks which have too many miserable and old locations, this bank is an example of a change from that and although the staffing levels during the day are dire and the fact they seem to love playing hide-and-seek with customers, it is an A-OK HSBC branch. 3*

We were VERY rudely sent away and told (in the most patronising tone) that this was a very major thing to do and they could not help without an appointment - despite this being contrary to the advise of both their website and telephone baking. If that's the way they treat potential new business, it beggars belief.

Well done Barclays for bringing this branch into the present and away from the dull old days.
