We came for breakfast and enjoyed everything. The menu has many choices. We had a veggie omelette and pork chop plate, which were tasty. Our waitress was Beatriz, and the customer service was excellent. Ms. Fanny, the manager, was warm and welcoming. The establishment is clean and the decor is nice. We will be back.

Over the years of following a local foodie group out of the Clear Lake area, Barcenas is mentioned quite a bit for being a staple of the community. The family owned business has been serving the southside for 30 something years. They must be doing something right. I had to check them out when they hit the Pearland scene. They took over a large space in a shopping strip off Pearland Parkway on the east side of Pearland. There is plenty of parking. The space inside is large and spacious with lots of seating and a full bar as well. Derek was our waiter extraordinaire who was super friendly and very helpful. He set us up with a couple of salsas and said they got a green sauce they could bring out too. It was supposed to be spicy, but the way my spice level is set up, it was mild to me. He then had the kitchen whip up a small batch of salsa that did pack some heat flavor. On top of him going out of his way to satisfy my craving, the staff in general was all smiles and worked well as a team. As far as food goes, they got something for everyone here. The menu is extensive. They have apps, salads, soups, tacos, quesos, fajitas, enchiladas, chalupas, burritos and all kind of specialty dishes. Since it was my first time here, I went with one of my favorite Tex-Mex dishes. I ordered the Chimichanga with fajita beef. The food came out not too long after. The chimichanga looked small at first, but it was filled with chopped beef fajitas. The fajita itself was ok, it could have used a little more seasoning. They serve it with a side of chile con queso that was tasty topping as well as a nice dip for my chips. The side of rice and charro beans hit the spot too. My dining companion enjoyed her dish of tacos al carbon as well. Overall, it was good to finally check this place out. It will definitely be in my rotation when the craving for Mexican and Tex-Mex hits.

Came on Friday night and got seated right away. Ordered mixed fajitas for 2. Food came out super fast and was delicious! The staff is so attentive and constantly checking in to refill drinks. It's so nice to have a place with fast service and good food close by.

Barcenas is my go to for great enchiladas with two eggs, Amazing combination!!! Now they have added fried chicharrones with guacamole or cheese. They are still crackling when they get to the table. I have never gone dry without someone refilling our drinks. Great service, Very trendy welcoming environment.

OMGoodness!!! Tonight meals were Awesome as usual and on point!!! Hot fresh and delicious!!! I tried a new entree tonight: the Rib Eye Tacos, they were seasoned, tender and served in a warm tortilla with grilled onions, pico and guacamole. Kudos to Hunter a new server and to Francisco, who does an amazing job taking care of His establishment. All the wait staff are polite, friendly and make each guest feel special and welcome. The Restaurant is very clean and spacious!!!! This is my husband and I favorite Mexican restaurant in Pearland Tx

Birthday dessert

Celebrated my birthday dinner here with a good friend and we both had a good time. I found out about this place through a community page on Facebook focusing on local eats within the community. We arrived around 7pm and most of the tables were occupied even at the bar area. The service was excellent. They attended to us quite regularly but not too much where we felt bothered. The restaurant itself felt cozy and spacious and it was clean. We started off with some margaritas which is always enjoyable that I had to get a second one. As far as food, I took on the Parrillada "Los Dos Hermanos" which consisted of chicken, shrimp, and beef fajitas with grilled onions. It came with a side of Mexican rice and your choice of beans the way its cooked as well as tortillas. The fajitas were great, I enjoyed the beef and the shrimp, however, the chicken fajitas were dry and could've been seasoned better in my opinion. To end our experience, they sang me a song and got me a dessert to finish it off. I liked this place that I brought my family here days later. They all enjoyed the food as well and so did I for my second experience.

After hearing about this place from others and from people on Facebook groups, you know I had to stop by and give them a try. Very nice ambiance as they have way more room than most Mexican establishments in the area, and the greeters were friendly. As always, you start with some chips and salsa of which both had great flavor, but the salsa was cold AF like they had it chilling in a freezer. Who doesn't love warm salsa just before their main course? I ordered carne guisada expecting the worse because no one in the Houston area makes it like Grandma used, but I digress. It had very tasty and great flavor, but I'm not a fan of the "red" sauce.....I'm ready to spoon up the brown goodness of my youth. The rice was definitely one of the more decent ones in the area, but the charro beans had no flavor at all. Also, not sure if sausage in the charro beans is a Houston thing, but its just not my cup of frijoles! LOL And we saved the mediocre for last.....the tortillas would probably land somewhere on the a 3 out of 10 range for my taste because they were almost see through and I could literally taste the machine on which they were cooked. all in all, not sure I'd come back to give them another chance.

The hunger pangs hit and I just happened to be near this place. I've only seen it in passing but haven't really seen much chatter on the local foodie pages on social media or on here. I arrived around the end of breakfast and there wasn't much of a crowd inside. Parking was easy right out front. I was a little confused at the ordering process. Was it counter service or table service? No one really pointed me in the right direction until my waitress Claudia told me to have a seat and she would be helping me. She did an amazing job from start to finish. I was expecting just a taco joint, but they have lots more to offer on their menu. They have gorditas, tostadas, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, burgers, breakfast items, soup and entrees. They also have your usual drinks options along with agua frescas, shakes, juices, margartitas and beers. I was torn between breakfast and lunch so I decided to try both. I went with the dish that has the same name as the restaurant. Tacos Toreados came with 3 tacos with a protein of your choice on a flour tortillas and what makes these different was that they came with grilled onions and mozzarella cheese. I also went with a bacon and egg taco just so I can really judge the place. What I didn't expect was how massive the tacos were going to be. I got mine with pastor and fajitas. It looked more like a tostada with the toppings covering the whole surface of the tortilla. The fajita and pastor was seasoned beautifully and was very tasty. The onions were sauteed just right but I do like raw onions and cilantro on my tacos a little better. The cheese was a nice addition as well. I barely got through two and on the third I just ate the meat. I saved just enough room to try the breakfast taco which was very good. Washed it all down with a Mexican Coke. This place is very close to my house and I will most definitely be back to make my way through their menu.

The tortillas? Greasy enough to leave fingerprints on your soul. Crispy on the outside, sure--but in that "I've been sitting under a heat lamp questioning my life choices" way. One bite and oil drips like it's trying to escape the crime scene. The meat is usually overcooked to the point where chewing feels like a personal challenge. Any natural flavor is gone, replaced with "salt + fry + regret." And don't get me started on the salsa: nuclear-level spicy, not because it's nuanced, but because pain is the only thing left to feel. Tacos toreados aren't about balance, craft, or love. They're about chaos. They're the taco equivalent of yelling "¡ÁMONOS!" and making bad decisions at 2 a.m. Delicious? Sometimes. Refined? Never. They exist purely to punish sobriety and reward drunk confidence. Still gonna eat them? Yeah. Proud of it? Absolutely not.

It's not the new place with mezcal flights and neon signs preaching about tacos being a lifestyle. It's the spot where you sit down, exhale, and realize you've been eating the same enchiladas here since Clinton was president -- and they've tasted right every time. Celaya's isn't chasing trends. They're not reinventing the wheel. They're just making damn good Mexican food the way they've always made it: with consistency, humility, and zero interest in impressing a food critic. Their salsa doesn't come in five variations; it comes in one -- and it's hot enough to remind you you're alive, but not so brutal you won't ask for more. The plates arrive fast, heavy, and exactly as you remember them. Cheese enchiladas drowning in chili gravy that stains your soul in the best way. Puffy tacos with enough crunch to make conversation pause. Refried beans like molten velvet. Rice that's been kissed by chicken stock and time. No deconstructed anything. No fusion confusion. Just food that doesn't need explanation because it's been perfected by repetition, not reinvention. The staff? They know you. Or they will. Names are remembered. Preferences are locked in. If you order something different, they'll check on you twice just to make sure you're feeling alright. This isn't service; this is family surveillance. Décor? Who cares. Probably the same faded murals, same laminated menus, same framed photo of somebody's abuela. And yet it feels more permanent, more rooted, than whatever's opening across town with reclaimed wood and Edison bulbs. The prices? Still fair. Still honest. Still structured around feeding working people, not influencers. You'll leave full, maybe with a little foil-wrapped something for later, and wondering why anyone ever needed more than this. Celaya's isn't a scene. It's not trying to be. It's a refuge. It's a reminder. It's a handshake from the past, still firm, still real.

Even with the huge crowds they get every day of the week, the food remains high-quality, the service stays quick, and the overall dining experiences are consistently satisfying. I think it's admirable that after all these years of coming here since I was a little girl, they've managed to maintain the same level of quality, and if anything, they've only improved. My go-to favorite is the Amazon Wrap with steak. It's always beautifully presented, the steak is perfectly cooked, and the lettuce, tomato, and other toppings keep it light and refreshing instead of heavy. The tortilla strips inside add the perfect crunch to balance what could otherwise be a chewy wrap. I also love drizzling on the complimentary green sauce that comes with the chips or asking for extra Amazon sauce because both pair with the wrap so well. Truly, there is nothing wrong with this dish, and I've successfully put all my friends onto ordering it. While I usually stick to the Amazon Wrap, Gringo's has plenty of other delicious options, including the steak fajitas, the quesadillas, and even a surprisingly good burger. Overall, Gringo's continues to be a comfort spot for my family and me, and it never fails to deliver. If you want reliable Tex-Mex with great service and consistently good food, this is absolutely the place to go.
