Every time we bring one of their cakes to a party, it gets eaten so fast, which says everything you need to know. It honestly feels like such a hidden gem. The shop is small, and there is even another business inside, but do not let that fool you. You are getting quality every single time you walk in. What I love most is the texture of their cakes. They are perfectly fluffy, not too sweet, and not too dense. It is that perfect balance that is hard to find. I highly recommend the white chocolate raspberry cake. Even though I am usually not a big fan of fruit in cakes, this one completely changed my mind. It is just that good. I cannot believe I haven't done this yet!! Hands down, the best cake in Fresno/Clovis!! It is so moist, every time! We have used them for birthday cakes and a host of other special occasions. They did the cake for our anniversary party. It was 3 tiers and because we were married in December, they decorated with poinsettias. They delivered the cake to the church and set it up for us. I'm not sure if it was a miscommunication or what, but I ordered a gold drip nearly naked cake from them. The gold drip looks like a toddler did it. I had to spend the night before my wedding trying to fix it. We even paid extra for the gold drip...and spent even more in materials trying to make my wedding cake not look like a trainwreck. I went to go pick up the cake 10 minutes late. the lady was upset and told me to put the flowers on myself. the design looks like they just smeared it on there and it's only on one side of the cake. I was so embarrassed to have this cake at my baby shower I started contacting anyone that could make me a replacement. When we were searching for our wedding cake, The people at Barb's made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. From the inception of our entrance, we were greeted with a warm hello. They scheduled us for a tasting with about 6 different tastings. They educated us on what we can do on different cakes such as fondant versus buttercream. We showed the young lady various designs and assured us what they could and couldn't do. We felt very comfortable with her advice. My husband even changed the design of the entire cake the last week of the wedding. Needless to say, the staff of Barb's was very accommodating. I must say, being a gay couple planning for a wedding, we receive some resistance from certain vendors and that's ok. They just weren't going to get our business/money and most importantly we respect their views. The day of the wedding, the cake looked and most importantly, tasted amazing! We had the chocolate with fudge filling and the spice with buttercream. Many guests mentioned they never eat the wedding cake, but that our cake was delicious! I was looking for a special cake to order for a graduation party and most of the locations I researched charged per slice or were way too pricey. Barbs cakery fit my price range so I decided to give them a shot. I went in with a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and they told me they could make it happen. Took no more than 10 mins. I decided to go with a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting 1/2 sheet. $55 + $15 due to the customized features I wanted to add. It was a bit much but I have no regrets because the cake came out just how I wanted it. Not to mention it was also delicious. I normally don't eat frosting on cake but on this occasion I had to make an exception! I was told a 1/2 sheet could feed up to 50 people. I had a party of 30 and we barely got through half of it. (I'm not complaining though, plenty of leftovers=cake for breakfast.) If you're considering ordering a cake do it 1 week prior to the date you'll need it. If that cake is a wedding one I believe they want to know months in advance. I had no problems with my visit or my order. If you do order a large cake my recommendation would be to have someone to hold it when you go to pick it up. I had to learn the hard way how difficult It can be to transport a cake while driving during traffic hour. read more
