Yes, the store is a little on the small side but what they have is really nice. Unlike some reviewers here I've always gotten great service at the store and find them to be really helpful and friendly. The items are pricey for sure but I'm hopeful that what I buy here I'll be enjoying for years to come. I bought a raincoat years ago that still looks great and makes me smile every time I wear it. They also have great sales from time to time! read more

This review is less about the brand and more about this specific location (I don't think the brand needs any introduction). While the space is small, it is packed with goods offering a great display of their product lineup. The service was fantastic and the staff were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. I went in to have my jacket re-waxed, they inspected thoroughly, determined it could be done in store instead of having to be sent out, gave me a reasonable estimate (both cost and timeline), tagged and labeled and were just overall very thorough. Also said that it may be done early which is fantastic. So far am incredibly satisfied with service and will see if the finished product holds up as well. read more

I was looking for a winter jacket and wanted to see the fabrics in person. I didnt expect there to be any plus size options. The sales clerk greeted me at the door and showed me a variety of jackets in various sizes. She was extremely patient and helpful and really seemed to care about me being happy with the shopping experience. I bought a waxed jacket and look forward to wearing it this winter. It was nice not having to shop online. read more

Store should probably receive a consistent 5 star rating. Unfortunately, as I waited for my wife in the fitting room, I spent 10-15 minutes observing a young guy who was a manager (believe the name was Geo) mocking numerous customers who approached to ask a question, the second they turned around. He stood in a distant corner with a patron, who was clearly a visiting friend, browsing one anothers cell phones having a grand time..any approaching customer got a one word answer, an eye-roll and laughed at as they retreated. Almost as if the manager wanted to show off infront of his friend, like he was above his job and the customers inquiries. It was appalling, truly juvenile behavior which I could barely stand to watch. I was, however, very happy to see the customers were quickly helped by an attentitive/kind sales rep. Almost as if they too were aware of their managers behavior and did the best they could to compensate. Products are great. read more

Not my favorite Barbour store, but a good one nonetheless. The staff is relatively helpful and I have no complaints on that end! The store itself is small, which can sometimes lead to overcrowding. However, what scores them so many stars is the free monogramming event they put on in fall 2013! Though the line was really, really long and I ended up waiting over an hour, the final product was beautiful and well worth the wait! Hopefully they will continue to host events like this that keep customers engaged and coming back. read more

I love Barbour jackets. I've been buying them for years including from the Georgetown store. I have no idea what has happened in the past year but this store went from great to downright awful. I went in about two or maybe three weeks ago (so I am delayed in writing this) and just absolutely zero customer service. When I asked for pricing on repairs I wanted done I was told it wasn't possible (which I knew was untrue as I had done it before on another jacket and when I called the NY location they immediately told me how much it would cost and how I could ship my jacket to them). There seems to be a lack of education on these products. It was also a huge bummer to see that the International Collection isn't being sold here anymore--I think that was a huge mistake on their part. The store could do with some new leadership and energy. That being said some of the sales associates are beyond friendly and seem like they want to do a good job. I was greeted promptly and they asked me questions about what I was looking for and seemed like they wanted to be helpful. read more

I'll preface this by saying that I think Barbour makes excellent clothing. This is strictly a review of the Barbour store in Georgetown. Barbour was having a July sale and I wanted to shop at the Georgetown store and make some purchases (you have to go to the store because the website doesn't have half of the inventory). My girlfriend called the Georgetown store to check on their evening hours. The girl on the phone said they are open until 8pm nightly. So... we show up at the store at 7pm and the doors are locked. They apparently had JUST closed because the manager and another employee were standing around inside. We knocked and flashed the universal eight fingers representing "you're open until 8" but to no avail. About 2 min. later they came out. We explained the situation and were told that the summer hours are "flexible". Translation: the store opens when an employee manages to get out of bed and closes when they have plans. Here's what the manager didn't know. 1) 75% of my wardrobe comes finer men's clothing shops. 2) We would have spent at least $1000 that evening. 3) Brooks Brothers will be getting that business instead. Why? Because Brooks Brothers doesn't turn away customers who are obviously ready to shop. They've kept the doors open for me on several occasions when I've arrived at closing time. There are plenty of places that are eager to sell me clothes - especially in this economy. The Georgetown Barbour store should take some pointers from their competition. read more

Fantastic customer service!! Walked out with two jackets! I have never bought Barbour before, so I was unsure of the appropriate jacket for my needs (I was going on a prolonged trip to Europe for the winter). I left with a fantastic jacket that I could zip a vest into and a great mid layer jacket for warmer days. Thanks! read more

We love the products, but the manager was treating us like criminals when we wanted to change something we bought less than 20m before. Terrible experience, even though other employees were nice. read more

They have a tremendous selection of clothing items, particularly jackets. I was looking for a new winter coat and found a jacket that checked all of the boxes for what I was looking for. The sales associates who aided my search, Nick, was tremendously knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with. The jacket that I bought was incredible and something that I wore daily during the winter. It was warm, durable, easy to pair, and very water resistant. It was a fantastic investment. I'll definitely be returning to the store! read more

My Barbour jacket was full of mold after being stored all summer. I went into the store to get it repaired and they sent me out to dry clean it. The staff told me to ignore the "no dry clean tag" and do it anyway. They said they would double wax it when it was done. Fortunately, no cleaners would accept to do that because they all said the garment would be ruined completely. I called the store in NYC and they told me to send it to them and they would have the "Spray & Wax" option available for me. The lady from the NYC store was in shock that they would even suggest dry cleaning. DO NOT TRUST. read more

While the store itself is very small and can get a bit crowded, they offer an array of both men and women's clothing ranging from outerwear to travel gear. They do not carry as many accessories as I would like, although you can order them and have them shipped to your home. now, during the fall season, they have a great selection of scarves hats and gloves of all types. The staff is friendly although I was never asked if I needed assistance during my trip, which I found to be odd. read more

I had an excellent experience in this store today. If you need your jacket repaired, I would highly, highly recommend bringing it to this location (as opposed to filling out the online form and sending it in yourself). The gentlemen who assisted me thoroughly examined my jacket, determined exactly what needed to be repaired, and filled out the repair form for me, allowing them to give me a price upfront which I paid on-site. They were professional, friendly, and helpful. My repair price was also very reasonable. I was in a rush and didn't stick around to shop, but I've been here before and the selection is excellent (they even have the dog jackets which are HARD to find in my experience). I'm excited to look around when I pick up my jacket! read more

Beware the return policy!!! Bought my wife a jacket as a christmas present here on 12/13. She wasn't crazy about it so when we got home in early January we decided to return it. I tried on January 22 and they said the return period had expired and I could only get store credit. I would have gladly paid a restocking fee. In this day and age a 30 day return window is kind of insane. read more

I walked into this store with the intention of purchasing a jacket. I knew the jacket and color I wanted- all I was debating on was size (2 or 4). I had previously been to two different Orvis locations to purchase the jacket, however neither store had size 2. This store had the color and size I wanted in stock, however the customer service was so poor I left and went across the river to Orvis to order the jacket. The store had 4 employees: 1 female who was semi-helpful; and 3 males, none of which asked if I needed help or even acknowledged my presence. I felt completely judged as someone who had no business being in the store from the moment we set foot inside. I relied solely on my boyfriend and his friend to help me decide, find my size, and help me zip the vest into and out of the jackets I was trying on. The male staff was arrogant, rude, and even proceeded to whisper and mock other customers. This is the one and only time I have refused to purchase a product purely on customer service. Or absolute lack thereof. read more

While the store has a decent selection, the service here is atrocious. After checking out the selection for 15-20 minutes, no store clerk ever came over to check on us. When we finally were able to find a store clerk to ask another size, the clerk looked us over, frowned, and told us there was nothing else available. I hate being judged by store clerks and not being able to get any service because we look different from the typical georgetown customer. We took our business to NYC to buy our coats since they were more receptive to actually helping interested customers there. My suggestion is to skip this store since the service is rude and unhelpful! read more

Went shopping recently for the Beadnell waxed jacket and found it here. Service was warm and friendly on a cold, rainy late fall day. The only bummer about the experience is that their computer was offline when I was there, so I couldn't complete my purchase and wear my jacket out of the store as I wanted to. They had to sell it to me as a phone order and ship the jacket to me once they were back online and could ring the transaction. The up side was that I saved on the sales tax because I live in Maryland where they don't have a brick and mortar store. The shipped the item quickly and I had it within a couple of days. read more

I purchase a new Barbour coat each fall. Up until last year (fall 2015) I usually purchased online or in a department store. However, in Nov 2015 I came to Barbour Georgetown and had such a lovely experience with the staff and their first class customer service that I chose to buy my coat there ($400+). The woman was so helpful and attentive and I was so pleased with the whole thing. This year on my annual trip to DC from SF I decided to come back to Barbour looking to get the same experience. On Friday, Nov 11 in the late afternoon I entered the M street shop with a friend to find far more staff members working than the year before. There were at least 3 staffers standing behind the check stand who did not greet us when we walked in, nor were they helping other customers. When I found something I wanted to purchase I had to find someone to ask them if they had a new (untouched) one in the back and was dismissed with an eye roll and a reluctant staffer. Finally the third individual doing nothing (there were two gentleman and a woman) checked and said there was nothing in the back. I was still happy to purchase a $90 scarf after said behavior and then I started looking around more and found a sweater ($250) as well. I wanted to try it on and was schlepping multiple around the store with no one offering to help me to a fitting room. Finally my friend took it upon himself to check to see if it was open (3 workers still standing around doing nothing). I tried on the sweater and was happy and went up to the register to pay for my two pieces of merchandise. Again, all three of the aforementioned just stood there and starred at me until I had to say "I would like to pay for this". The woman looked annoyed and slowly fiddled with the computer so the other man had to begrudgingly start to wrap my things up. It was a horrible experience and I will never return to this store. What is most upsetting is again, I had such a lovely experience just 12 months before. During the 45 minutes I was in the store I did not see any other patrons purchase anything. I also went online a bought a Barbour coat from Nordstrom after I left the store with my sweater and scarf. I will resume my Barbour collecting online in the future. Also, I'm not a big yelper who yel but as someone who works in sales and values customer service I had to say something. I could begin to understand this if the store was really busy but again each time I needed assistance I found the three of them just standing there. read more

I've now had 2 bad experiences here. The first time I went to get a warranty repair on something that was pretty clearly a manufacturing defect. The person that helped me not only told me that they wouldn't cover it under warranty but that also I couldn't even pay them to fix it. Then the guy said "Well maybe I can help you" and proceeded to work on a computer for a while. I thought something useful was about to happen, but then I realized he was googling how I could fix it myself, which was clearly useless. I asked him if that was really the only thing I could do and he suggested I just buy a new one. I grabbed my useless jacket and left. The second bad experience I had was in line with the other negative reviews--some of the people working there give off the vibe that they'd prefer if you didn't come into their store. I personally would avoid buying Barbour items after my jacket fell apart and they wouldn't do anything about it, but even if you're committed to buying a Barbour product (to be fair my wax jacket from there is still going strong) I would definitely recommend buying it elsewhere. They're sold a lot of places. In particular there's an Orvis in Clarendon, a J Crew across the street (both of which sell Barbour and similar styles from other companies) and a Brooks Brothers down the block. read more

Great selection; excellent customer service. I went in just looking but will be back in the fall to buy a jacket (or two...maybe more).

I purchased my first Barbour jacket here last weekend. When I got home and tried it on, I noticed it had a stain on the sleeve. I was really annoyed because I just bought it! I went back to the store to return it and the staff was more than helpful and exchanged it for a brand new one with no trouble. They were fast an efficient. If you are looking for some upscale outerwear - quilted jackets, waxed jackets, Christmas sweaters, doggy vests, this is your best bet! Just a warning, it's not cheap! read more

Very personable and friendly staff. Clothes fit very well, and if something is not in your size, always willing to help find it else where.

As a fan of the Barbour brand I was ecstatic to venture into their Georgetown location. I was greeted warmly and the staff was friendly and helpful. They immediately asked if I needed assistance and even though I declined they still checked in from time to time and answered all my questions thoroughly. One of the sales associates, a young girl, was informative about the process of getting my jacket fixed and it turns out they do a full range of repairs. The store was neat and clean and as a huge fan of Barbour their products are as always to die for. I put full support behind purchasing a Barbour as they last forever and with this new information on repairs I have full quality assurance. read more

I came looking for a winter coat for my 13-week-old Chinese Pub, and was met with the warmest, most capable, and festive help I could imagine. Edward, in particular, was skillful at fitting our squiggly pup, and so gentle. The whole experience was splendid! The store is beautiful, spacious, and comfy. Our new pup has his own personal shoppers! The coat is handsome, high quality, and easy to get in and out of. Perfect! Thank you all for a great visit. Some of the worst customer service I've seen. My husband purchased a raincoat here last summer at the end of the season. He wasn't able to wear it last season, and it hung in our closet until recently, when he pulled it out and was dismayed to find that it was discolored with several large white splotches, almost as if someone had rubbed deodorant on it. He took the coat back to the store and explained the situation. At the outset, the manager refused to refund or exchange the coat and said she'd have to send it off for processing to determine the cause of the discoloration. He agreed and waited approximately a month before hearing back from them. When they finally called, the person he spoke to said they'd send the coat out and that it had been cleaned and the white splotches removed. He thanked them and asked that the coat be shipped to our house, to compensate somewhat for the inconvenience and avoid a trip to Georgetown. The customer service representative said there would be a $10 charge for shipping, which Barbour would not waive. My husband asked to speak to their manager, who spoke to him in a nasty tone, refused to waive the shipping fee, and basically implied that my husband had damaged the coat himself by washing it (he definitely had not) and that Barbour had done him a favor by cleaning it. She was adamant that she 'did not have the budget' to pay for shipping charges, and that he had not established that the coat was defective. Based on our experience and the other reviews here, it seems Barbour (at least this location) could not care less about customer service. We will take our business to other stores that do. read more
