I talked to multiple contractors - some who just didn't call back, a few who said they couldn't (wouldn't) build the fence I wanted, and frankly, a few that I just didn't like. Gerardo showed up, chatted with me about what I wanted, took measurements, and gave me a bid on the spot. I was moving into a house I was rehabbing and needed a portion of this fence done right away because I have a dog and he hustled to not only build the new portion I needed, but went out of his way to do some repairs on the existing fence to keep my dog safe and secure. He and the people working for him showed a lot of attention to detail, checked in with me often about the project to make sure it was coming along and looking as I expected, and every day at the end of the day the work site was clean and organized. I'm planning some plant installations and a new deck and Gerard's Landscaping is going to be my first call!

The number of red flags in 1 message exchange. First of all, if you are in the field don't respond to the message or hire someone who can do it without getting upset that their customer do not know what they need.

Verde Gardens stood out both because of the pictures on her website and her prompt response when I reached out. After talking on the phone we set up an appointment for her to come by and look at my yard. Michelle took stock of the space and suggested several ideas to see what I liked and what would fit in my budget. After this, she returned on a follow up appointment with drawings of the two potential layouts she had promised. To my surprise, she was so enthused she included a third option which turned out to be the one that my partner and I liked most. Next it was down to choosing materials and plants. Michelle provided the perfect amount of advice, giving me lots of different choices and making suggestions when I needed her input, and taking time to explain the cost differences on different paving stone options. There isn't much you can find online in terms of reviews on Greenleaf, but they've been in business for over 20 years and I've already recommended them to numerous neighbors and friends. We met Regulo through our neighbors and within a day or two of calling him, he came out to discuss a stone patio and matching parking spot project, along with a refresh (pressure wash + stain) of our fence. It was important that the stone patio be supported by a retaining wall that tied in "naturally" to an existing retaining wall of large basalt stone. He shared photos of many past projects with varying types of retaining walls, patio surface stone, cut patterns, etc., to dial-in on the project. His quote for materials and labor, along with his timeline, were clear and ended up matching exactly how the work was executed. Within 10 days our Pennsylvania Bluestone patio and the fence project were complete. The skill Uriel has at cutting and fitting surface stone together is an art form. It is also humbling to witness the team's work ethic. While the stone patio was setting, Uriel knocked out the fence project in a day or two. All throughout, Regulo, Uriel, and team were 100% professional, considerate (masks worn while around us), and kept the job site tidy. All in all, we love the balance our patio has between clean-cut and natural. The patio drains well and ties in with both our existing retaining wall and front deck. The fence refresh looks great and will prolong its lifespan. We've even caught several passerby's snapping photos of the patio and asking what type of stone was used.
