Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. My first thoughts after seeing Frank's finished work was "how can I hide this so no one ever sees it?" Technically it appears to work as a staircase so far, so 2 stars seems about right. We requested a new concrete staircase with colored cement, plus demolition of an existing wood deck with concrete footings. Other contractors quoted a 2-day job, but after work had started, Frank told me he planned to complete it all in a day. Before noon when I came out to look at the progress, I noticed about 2 empty cases of beer cans and bottles on site. The drinking would continue into the night, but at this early stage, I wasn't overly worried yet. I confirmed with Frank several times that the old concrete footings would be removed. Around 4pm all of the colored concrete had been deposited into the frame, but Frank had significantly underestimated the amount needed. So his crew bought over a dozen bags of natural (gray) concrete from a local store, mixed it right on the dirt next to the new steps, and scooped it into the form. The crew tried to inject the gray cement below the colored cement, but as you can see from the photos (4 weeks later), it didn't come out right. As evening approached, there were bottle caps everywhere and Frank had a meager lighting setup to finish the surfacing process. At 10pm, after several hours in the dark, Frank asked me to look at the "finished" job. I pointed out the sloppy lines in the stair contour, and he said he could straighten it out with about 3 more hours of shaping. He obviously wasn't planning to stay to finish, and the old footings had still not been removed. At this point his only concern was to receive the balance of the payment. He left his equipment on site for 2 more days, despite my requests to remove it. I told him about all my complaints about the finished staircase. I asked him to come look at the staircase in the daylight, so we could agree on a reasonable payment. He offered to contact a concrete surfacing company on the following Monday. To date, he has never showed up again to look at his work. I have not received any info about the resurfacing (1 month later now). Summary of problems: underestimation of colored cement led to use of different color material, which caused permanent discoloration; no two steps are the same height; sloppy and drooping lines on the edges of multiple steps; rough surface in several spots; old concrete footings were never removed as agreed. read more

Awesome work. Frank is a super chill guy. Him and his crew did almost 1350 square feet for me and it took them from 6:30am to around 3pm! They demo-ed our driveway and laid the concrete for the driveway and patio slab. They work so fast and the crew looks/sounds like they have a lot of fun lol. Frank is super busy, so don't be alarmed if he doesn't answer for the day or so regarding your work but he will get back to you! You might have to remind him once or twice. We were stressed out that the Yucaipa city inspector kept adding items each visit in order to approve the property to move in. This last time, they said that the driveway needed to go all the way to the street. Our goal was to move in by January 1, 2021. Frank and Barbon Concrete came to the rescue! After contacting 5 other concrete services, who all quoted very high or even double what the job should have taken, and all were too booked up to come soon, Frank came, gave us a very reasonable quote, and finished the job in days. The driveway extension looks Phenomenal! We are actually going to be hiring them again to do a number of other projects over the coming year and were immensely impressed by Frank and his team. Upon asking him about his experience in the field, Frank shared about apprenticing, working for the union, and learning all that he could for the past couple years before finally starting out on his own with his own company. The other contractors we had been working with would come once every 3-5 weeks and it took an entire year to get a prefab modular built and set up. I gave this guy over 11k and he never finished the work. A concrete slab broke less than a week old and he promised to fix but never did He left a giant hole in my backyard for months I tried reaching out to him and he gave me every excuse under the sun. He has constantly made promises to come back but hasnt kept his word. He left a hole in my backyard where my son fell into. He hasnt shown any care about this and it has been several months. Frank's quote was considerably lower than his competitors and thought the final price ended up being more it was still the lowest by a good chunk. The work is solid. My experience has nothing to do with the work preformed because twice I reached out to this company and both times I was left without a response. He was a referral from my Sister which loved his work (which is good). I first sent pictures regarding the option of possibly reusing pavers in my backyard. Then a month later I put a request on Yelp for concrete and pavers job. The company responded, said they'll come by and look at it, gave my address and again nothing. On Thursday Frank came out at an agreed upon time and he quoted me a price for the project. He offered to get paid in full once the job was complete. I didn't think that was entirely fair to him so I told him would give him at least $1,000 to get started and knew he had expenses to get started. We shook on it and said he'd start Monday at 7am and we'd sign contract at that time I called him Friday as told him I wanted more work done than initially agreed upon. He said it would cost more, I agreed. Makes sense. He said he would come out and measure that day at 6:30 pm. No show. Said he would be by the next day at 7am to measure. No show. Now he's gone missing. Communicate with people. If running late, let people know. Just don't not show up. Instead of ghosting me, just tell me you don't want the job and that's fine, even though we agreed on it. Was a nice guy and his photos of prior jobs looked good. I wasn't please with the services Frank (Barbon Concrete) provide. Several things went wrong with the services they provide. 1. Frank schedule to start working on my project at 7:30 am but he didn't show-up until after 12:30 pm. Frank did text we at 8 am that he had schedule the cement delivery at 2 pm and that he would be at my place by 10:30 am. At 12 pm Frank hadn't show-up yet and being that I had take the day off from work to get this done, I actually call Frank to make sure he was coming. Frank finally show-up after 12:30 pm. 2. After we agree on price before hand, Frank was trying to charge me for items that should have being part of the job. 3. When the cement delivery & pump show for delivery Franks ask me for money so he could paid for the services of the cement delivery and pump. (this very unprofessional on his part). I normally paid for the services provide when the job completed, but at this time I went ahead and paid for cement delivery & pump. When the project was completed I was please with the outcome, but the issues it took to get there wasn't pleasant In the future Barbon Concrete would benefit greatly if they could work on there professionalism, and take the customers time into consideration. If I could give less than one star I would! I'm not sure what kind of show this guy is running, but save your money, time and energy and find a professional company. This guy was given not one, not two, but three times to show a level professionalism by calling if he was going to be late or just communicating in general. To not show up 3x's?? Wow! DO NOT HIRE this guy for any concrete work! I would give him a zero if I could. Frank is not reliable and his workmanship and quality control are none existent. I hired him to install 10 yards of stamped, colored concrete and he screwed the whole job up. He did not slope my steps or my porch properly and water just pooled with no drainage. Water also pooled on the entry walk area because he didn't slope it correctly. The stamps were doubled imaged, overlapping into the bands, inconsistent in depth and nothing aligned correctly. He even left a footprint in my walkway. He offered to fix some of it if I payed him the remaining $500 I owed him first. I refused that I offer and he refused to fix all his mistakes. After going back and forth for months I finally realized he was not going to fix anything. I asked him to just demolish his work and I would hire someone else. He said he would and then he would schedule a day to be there and not show and he did not even have enough consideration to call. He did this to me at least 8 times. He is not trust-worthy and he will lie to your face. Long story short, I SUED him and the coward didn't even show up in small claims court. I proved my case and won easily. I was looking to concrete in my back patio and remove all the debris the previous owners left. Within probably 10 min of sending out a request to multiple contractors, Frank reach out to me right away and even was willing to come look at what I needed done the same night. He was very competive with his quotes and when he told me he could have it all done in one day had my wife and I sold. When Frank and his crew arrived(at time Frank told me they would be there)they started right away and had over a 1000sq feet demoed within 2 hrs and framed. I was very impressed. They poured the concrete and set the joints all by the afternoon. The patio slab turned out amazing. Frank and his crew were very professional.
