I don't know the barbers name. He had dreads and wore sunglasses the whole time he was cutting my sons hair which is weird because how can you see what your doing ? Anyways not only did it take him almost 2 hours to cut my sons hair which was a regular comb over but he also nipped his eyebrow and took off almost half of his eyebrow than blamed my son to which my son is 9 years old. The line up was crooked and he blamed whoever cut his hair before that they did it crooked. Which we went to the same shop and it was his coworker that was there a (Mexican guy) honestly his coworker did a way better job and was faster. When I went to pay him he tried to pick up the clippers again ! I had enough paid him and took my son. Worst experience ever with any barber. read more

Papa is a rolling stone. I don't have a long term relationship with any particular barber or stylist. I used to have one, but then she suddenly left me without saying goodbye T_T. I don't want to get heartbroken again, so I drift from one casual encounter to the next. The weather is warming up and it's time to shed the winter coat, so I decided to clean the moptop a bit. It wasn't busy when I strolled in mid morning. Hearing music in the shop was nice, especially tracks like "I Can't Wait" by New Shooz or "Regulate" by Nate Dogg & Warren G. The first couple of chairs were occupied, but before I could get settled in an the waiting benches, antique church pews, I was motioned over to Jade's chair towards the back. Zero wait time FTW. She's a fairly new girl at the shop, but not entirely new to the biz; formerly from a chain hairstylist company. I put my faith in Jade's skills and let her go to work. She asked a couple of questions, but not a ton as I would expect for new clients. I usually get asked about details clarifying the clipper guard, cut length, general styling, sideburns, neckline, and finishing products. She got the gist of what I was looking for and I was happy with the result. $13+tip to get cleaned up nicely. Just a haircut. No fancy hairwashes or scalp massages here. Now, if only I could get a cold beer. I didn't know the store was cash only and luckily I had some bucks just for the bill, but I had to hit up an ATM and return to leave a proper gratuity. I'm a fan of Lemon Grove Barber Shop's location and vibe, but like in my opening paragraph, I'm constantly on the lookout for exceptional customer service to win over my fragile heart. read more

Waiting this morning for a hair cut I noticed on the wall a couple of posters supporting Trump. Everyone is entitled to their political views but it's bad business to plaster your political views in public. I went here as a walk-in with my toddler. I was greeted immediately, shop has a cool vibe going on. As soon as we sat a gentlemen at the end of the line called us up. Always a good cut at Lemon Grove Barber! Friendly staff and always a good talk and laugh. I personally go to Ivan and Victor AKA Sunshine. I have also gotten cuts from Milton and Jade and they both also do great jobs. But to be completely honest when I first started going to this barber shop I did not know anybody here however I have bonded with everybody here and have become very good friends with all the barbers and they are very nice and real people. I could not imagine going to another barber shop. Today I took my son there to get his first haircut from Ivan. WORST customer service I ever have had in my entire existence. I got there around 5:00 after waiting in there for 1 hr because they were talking with some dude outside they finally decided to go in to finish 2 customers and then around 6:30 they told me that they are not going to cut my hair because they have to go. (The place closes at 7pm acording to their page). Just waste 2 hours at this location I coulded go somewhere else and get. Y haircut quick. I went here... Tried something new and regretted it! Got a decent cut and beard trim. But!!! It wasn't the cut I asked for... I said a light trim and clean up in the back and a trim on the beard. I said the front is longer than the back and I want the back to eventually get as long as the front and only a light trim off the front. M*f#r took a inch and a half off the front and made it the same length as the back! I had to correct him on my beard because when he trimmed it up, he made the right side thicker and higher than the left. When I corrected him on the beard, he tried to fix it and he angled my right side and curved the left side. I just said leave it... I fixed it when I got home. That was when I also noticed that the trim on my beard wasn't evenly cut and had spots that were longer in places and shorted in others. I couldn't tell till I took a shower and got the gel out my hair to be able to tell how short he cut the front of my hair. At this point I was not very happy. I did get a nice cut but it wasn't the cut I asked for. Can't say I'll go back. I won't get into how the price went up a couple bucks, from the moment I got out the chair and going to the front to pay. Also if you pay by credit card, they charge an additional dollar. So, I don't know what it is with today's business. The expectation that the customer owes them something and that the barber is actually doing the customer a favor by cutting his hair. Last time I checked, there are about 20+ barbers in several different shops within a 1 mile radius. I'm happy to spend my $15 +$5 gratuity somewhere else...somewhere else that greets a customer when he walks in, somewhere else that has a sign-in list so there is no confusion about who is next. Nothing is more disheartening than walking into a shop, not being acknowledged, waiting 30 minutes, only to find out that the one barber that was recommended to you by another patron was taking others ahead of you because he "had an appointment". Lots of people here complaining about not being catered to need to relax. These guys take their time to ensure you leave the store feeling good about your haircut. There is no worse feeling leaving a barber shop feeling like they just jacked your hair up. If you want that private forest grump cut then head to super cuts! If you would just spend 2 minutes a few days in advance and make a call for an appointment you will be taken care of appropriately.
