My boyfriend is starting a new job, so I wanted to treat him to a fresh haircut and single razor shave to help him look his best on his first day of work at a new firm. Just moved from downtown Chicago to downtown LA... Driving to Pasadena is worth it for a good cut. Legit the best barber/stylist I've had to date. It took a couple years to find my barber in Chicago so you can imagine how much hard it would be to find one around LA. Found Embassy on Yelp when I was in the area. Ivan does an amazing and detailed job. I would highly recommend him if you can make it out that way. Parking is free which is a plus. It was hard to find at first until I realized he was renting a booth inside Regency. I actually called to find the place. Found Ivan on Yelp seen his great reviews and decided to try him out had been growing my hair since November 2015 and simply trimmed it and combed it back, was bald 18 years before this and never really had a hair style. I came 30 mins late (traffic from work)he was really good bout it, I sat down and explained to him I only been combing it back and wanted something different. I have a lot of hair and it's extremely thick, he washed it out and just started cutting. This guy was like Edward scissor hands and knew just the right amount to cut and took his time. He is a pro with old school training, you can tell that immediately on seeing his cool chromed 1940s barber's chair. Nice building, nice fellow, nice product, nice work. Ivan and his hair studio is just as comparable to what you would get at the Montage in Beverly Hills or any salon in West LA, Nothing about my cut was rushed and he really wants to get the cut absolutely correct so he asks questions. I never used barbers until I booked an appointment with Ivan here at Barber Embassy. Usually I would just buzz cut my hair and shave. However, with my wedding coming up I wanted to try using an actual professional and see what he could do for me. Over the next few months we tried different designs for my facial hair and settled on which one I wanted to be done the day before the wedding. He takes his time, and is very meticulous. Even though I was just planning on having Ivan shave/cut me for my wedding I'll be making regular visits because I can't line anything up quiet nearly as good as Ivan can. By far the most legit haircut experience I've ever had. I came in with long, unmanageable hair and a vague idea of what I wanted and Ivan gave me a great style and also gave extreme attention to detail. He cleaned up the hair on the back of my neck and sideburns with a straight-razor, dusted me with some talcum powder and even offered me a beer and/or bourbon. I made an appointment to get my beard cleaned up before Thanksgiving and i'm glad I did. Ivan was very professional and attentive. This was my first time going to a barber to trim and clean up my beard, and he did a GREAT job. He even recommended some products to help with skin and beard maintenance. I'm new in town and thought I'd try this place since it has a lot of good (and recent) reviews. Ivan did not disappoint. He's very thorough and did a good job with my hair. I wasn't expecting a straight-blade razor for doing the neck, but that was a nice touch. Only caveat is that if you're sporting stubble, make sure that he doesn't use the razor on your sideburns.
