Angel provided me with a great Cut, and overall great kind service. His cut was $50 before tip which is more than a great price for me! I have Asian hair so he knew how to cut it and lighten it up. I didn't make an appointment and popped in randomly and he was quick to offer assistance! Thank you guys! read more

Good haircut. Not $50 good. I've had better for $15. Was expecting a chill vibe and have good barbershop talk. Nobody spoke English. They bumped some interesting Latin hip hop. Not my style. But at least it's a vibe. Nobody offered me a beer or anything. But I didn't ask. read more

I've come twice and gotten my haircut done by Angel. Both times he was very kind and consistent with his craft. On my second time visiting here he even remembered what I got for a haircuts showing he cares about his customers. And not to mention the barbershop itself is super cool with a roll up door open to the street, dope retro paintings on the wall, and classic hits playing. Would definitely recommend if looking for a barbershop in downtown San Jose. read more

Angel does a really good job cutting hair. He takes his time and makes sure you get what you wanted. He is very friendly and makes sure you are in good hands. Would recommend to people to give them a try if they are looking for a barber. read more

I went here for the first time and I had a great experience. My barber was Nelson, he was friendly, respectful and very chatty. He did an amazing job with my haircut yesterday and I would definitely recommend you to check it out. 10/10 Si solo hablas español, esta debería ser tu barbería, aquí los panas son a toda madre y saben lo que están haciendo!! read more

They gave great hair cut and left me with a beautiful hair cut but they do not speak perfect English so it was a little difficult to tell the what I wanted. Over all a great area and they have a cool and fancy inside. read more

The barbers were nice, welcoming. The online scheduling tool needs work cause it let me book but the barber was 20 mins late cause he was likely not aware of it being added. I shouldn't have been able to book it, so don't book online appointments same day unless they are already working for the day. They are cash only which really irritates me. The cut I got was beard line up and trim. It was fine. Not stellar. The barber seemed to be the mayor of the corner and many people stopped by to talk to him so there were quite a few interruptions. Overall it was clean but lacked finesse in the shape and fade. But in all fairness I never went there before and it might be better if he knew my face. I would probably go back if I were in a pinch but probably not my main barber. The setup and design of the place is nice enough. Very bro-y. I can see how basic dudes like it and I'm sure it is a good draw. The Brazilian blowout bar looked to be a little more professionally managed on that side though I know they are in the same company. I almost asked if one of their stylists could work my beard while I was waiting. Probably should have. read more

Maybe the barber shop should have their own booking for appointments so that both establishments running under the same website get booked more accordingly to what a client might expect from a barber. Did not get get a haircut on the barber shop side but figured I would get my money's worth but I guess not read more

this is the second time I've gone to this barbershop and I waited for my second time to write this review to see if it could save itself. it's dirty, they drop the scissors the guards everything you can think of on the floor even the brushes they wipe your face with. they don't clean them off they just pick them up and keep using them. on top of that they don't know how to cut hair, I asked for a simple mid fade. a buzzcut. I have extremely short hair. it took their guy 2 hours and he still did a terrible job, one side of my head is shaved and the other isn't, I'm gonna have to go to a second barber today just so I don't look so bad. and on top of ALL of that. they charge just as much if not more than other places. $53.50 for a simple buzz cut mid fade, I could see 35 with this level of expertise but they charging just like the big guys, go to a real barbershop not this street side mess. read more

Booked an appointment based on proximity and reviews and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome - been coming here now for a couple of months! The deets: + Vinny listens and produces the exact cut asked for + Validated 2-hour parking + Beer available with your cut + Schedule through Vagaro, as it is sometimes difficult to walk-in (directly out of the Yelp app!) + Hit the town running with a fresh cut + Use the Yelp 20% off cut coupon to save some dough - No women's or gender neutral hair products read more

The barbers are super friendly and, compared to comparable level of service at other places in the area, a solid value.

Men's haircut is nominally higher quality than other shops in the area, but at a $55 price tag. Online scheduling tool (or shop booking process) needs work, barber was 30+ minutes behind schedule the last two times I came in. Good cut if you have the time to wait and inclination to pay more than comparable businesses. The barbers are friendly and the experience is classic, but I likely won't be returning. read more

Great barber shop. Daniel showed great attention to detail and made my haircut even better! They even came in a whole hour early just for ME when I called! So props to the owner for that! I would definitely recommend this place if you want a great haircut and not just one of those basic ones from the big chain hair salons. read more

Barber Bar is in a heavy foot traffic area of San Pedro Market. Barber Bar offered beer and had a television with whatever sports game was on. I have searched long and hard for a good barber. I stumbled upon this place by chance when I walked through San Pedro one day for lunch. I had a messed up haircut, saw Barber Bar, and asked if anyone could fix my hair. Hang answered up and said he could take care of me after I got off work. My initial haircut was so messed up that I didn't think there was any way to salvage it. Hang is a wizard with his fades. He fixed my haircut with such a clean and close fade. I always see differences in how different barbers go about their procedure for cutting hair. I could just tell that Hang was a master at this craft and he really had a good understanding at what he was doing. After my first haircut with Hang, I decided to come back. Hang is able to completely understand what I want and executes it perfectly. Hang knows what looks best for your type of hair and shape of your head. Hang is a perfectionist and has never left me disappointed. Not only is Hang's haircuts 10/10, he is a great dude to talk to and be around. I feel like I'm going to a super laid back therapy session while getting my haircut. Hang truly listens and cares about his clients, which is a huge testament of his repeat clients. I finally found the barber that I will always go back to as long as he is cutting hair in the Bay Area. I have been going to Hang for a year now, and I finally am giving him the review he deserves. I just found out Hang left Barber Bar, and is now at Oz a Salon in Willow Glen on Lincoln Road. If you need a top-notch fade and haircut, go to Hang hands down wherever he is. read more

Had another great cut at barber bar today! The only place I go anymore to get my hair and beard touched up, shout out to Matt Riley who did my hair and beard today, he's an artist and fun as hell to talk to! This is the place to go if you want your hair and beard treated well! read more

I gotta say to at least give these guys a try! Wonderful experience :) I've been looking for a good barber shop since I've moved back to the San Jose area a couple of years ago. Found this place by accident while having lunch and just thought, "Why not, it's right here." It was a Tuesday afternoon so it wasn't busy, which was great since Sam was able to seat me right away. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations and just needed a hair cut. Sam although changed my mind and we were able to keep a great conversation throughout my haircut, which was a first for me while getting a haircut so that was an awesome plus. Now back to the haircut, I asked Sam just to fix or salvage what happened to my hair after my last haircut and he immediately knew what to do. He took his time and after certain points, he would ask me to take a look at what he's done and if I liked what he did so far. Doing this made me realize that I found my barber! After midway through my haircut, I told him that I wanted to grow out my hair a particular way and he talked hair maintenance and so on. Overall, WONDERFUL experience. The only down side I would say about this place is the price of the haircut and is cash only, but to be honest, I don't even mind. I initially just needed a haircut but Sam was spot on with what type of haircut I wanted and "our" plan to grow my hair lol. It was also a plus that he made me feel like we knew each other for years after our conversation. I am now a returning customer. read more

I've been coming to the Barber Bar to see Nick for about a year now. Always a stellar cut, and great company. At this point he just does what he feels will make me feel more confident and I couldn't be happier. The space is clean, and always friendly. Great location by all kinds of great food and drink. Walk-ins are usually tough to land so I'd recommend setting up appointments ahead of time. read more

I won't even look at previous reviews here because they are irrelevant. JJ...the cool cat that cut my hair on a moment's notice at 715pm (without an appointment)...just began working here three days ago, so my review is for JJ and the facility today and going forward. So the place sits in a great location in the indoor San Pedro market....chock full of bars and restaurants, so the vibe is pretty cool already. I got lucky...JJ had a no-show, so he saw me straight away and went to work. Nice hot towel service on the face while my hair got washed...good stuff. Then, he just crushed my haircut!! I'm pretty particular when it comes to this event which happens every few weeks up in Chicago with the same person alllllll the time, but I'm not going to have time to get a buzz when I get back in town, so this was a HUGE leap of faith for me letting a stranger cut my hair. Truth be told, I'd get on a plane and come back here every three weeks if I could. I have a thick and curly mop of hair on my head...I mean this thing breaks combs on a regular basis, it's so thick. JJ took my monstrously cantankerous head of hair and cut and shaped it into a masterpiece that Picasso would be proud of. He truly showed me what years of experience can do...a true master at his craft. Thanks, JJ!! OH, and the IPA was great as well!! After all, it is the Barber BAR!! I highly endorse the Barber Bar read more

This place is amazing! Made a reservation on Yelp and was able to get in the same day. Vinny was super chill, knew exactly what I wanted, and I love the finished product. I highly recommend Barber Bar! I'll be coming back in a few weeks for a touch up. read more

I just had my hair cut from Nikk!!! Superb service and I had a great first time experience! The place is pretty hip in the middle of the busy San Pedro market place. Nikk gave me a quick consultantation of what style I wanted and he mastered it with his talented artistry. I would definitely come back again because I haven't found a hair stylist that's ever learning new techniques and treat every hair as an individual. I would've given it 5 stars but the only form of payment is cash, which I think is super inconvenient these days. Not even Square? read more

JJ gave me the best haircut I've ever gotten in my whole life! JJ, if you're reading this get in touch with me please!

Today, I decided it was time to finally cut and donate my hair after growing it out for 2 years. I requested an appointment with Nikk and he responded immediately! When I walked into the shop I could feel the good vibes from the barbers and customers. Don't let the name fool you, Barber Bar isn't just for men. Nikk and JJ are both professional stylists. This shop has some of the best people working there. Nikk, Vinny, and JJ all get 5 stars in my book! Nikk and JJ did a great job to carefully section off parts of my hair so that we were able to donate it properly. After the pleasant conversations and over 12" of hair donated I can honestly say I will be back for my next cut with Nikk! read more

Amazing place to get your hair cut! Very relaxing chill environment with great tunes and cool vibing people! I highly recommend Matt Riley!

Great cut and fantastic staff. In from out of town and Hang did a great job cutting and styling. Would recommend to anyone.

Jonathan was amazing! His haircut was great and he got me all lined up for the wedding I'm attending. Barber Matt gave me one of the worst haircuts I've ever been given. Nothing else to really say about it. Disregarded what I asked for and didn't blend my hair at all. Best haircut of my life! Thanks JJ! I recently moved to the San Jose area and have been hopping from place to place before giving this place a shot. It ended up being the best one yet I feel like I will come to regret this review as it will make it impossible to get an appointment with JJ in the future, but he is great!
