Patrick is the man, I haven't had a haircut in over 8 years (I've been rocking a man bun for that duration). He basically transformed me and did it with ease. I like how he knows all the trends, is very technical with the scope of the haircut, and knows so much about it. I did some research beforehand, and it appears the trendy hairstyle right now is called the "Wolfcut". As much as I would've loved to have tried the Wolfcut, I wanted a hairstyle more appropriate for my age. That's not to say I won't try it in the future, perhaps. I have been getting many compliments and it's been such a huge confidence booster. I get told that I look way younger by people who know my real age. I don't think I've ever had an amazing haircut as much as this one before. Yes, he is kinda pricey, but I think he's worth it. Also, again, I hadn't had a haircut in over 8 years. This awesome haircut paired with a rigorous skincare routine of mine (tretinoin 0.025% gang where you at), I am starting to be called "unc" fewer times now. read more

I've been going for quite a while now to get my cut from Jake at Knowledge Barbershop.The service and quality is always top tier. Also every time I walked in I'm always greeted by all the barbers and the plus side is they always have good music playing in the background. I genuinely enjoy getting my cuts here that I take my son to get his cuts because I've never once have we got a bad cut. I got a haircut today from Patrick. I mentioned to him initially that I was growing my hair out for a wolfcut and wanted to add texture and flow to it. I never mentioned that I wanted a significant change or to chop off a significant portion of my hair. He recommended bringing the sides in to expose my forehead more which I agreed with. He also asked about the back length and my thoughts on it and I expressed I wanted to grow it out more. Essentially I was under the impression that he would be layering the top, sides, back to remove the weight and bring in the sides with scissors. I am not sure where the miscommunication occurred but he ended up using clippers on the sides and brining it back significantly and cutting off a significant length of my bangs and cutting off a significant portion of the back of my hair which I got bleached in Korea. Roughly towards the end of the cut, he mentioned that he didn't want me to be shocked because this was going to be a signicant change to which I really didn't know how to respond. At the end of the haircut, when I could actually see with my glasses, I was pretty distraught by the amount of hair he chopped off. I am upset because I didn't come into this wanting a significant change, expressed that I wanted a different hair style, nor did I mention that I wanted to have my hair short--I said I'm growing my hair out for a wolf cut. I don't understand why he would cut so much of my hair off to add texture or flow to it. I am really sad because I haven't had any haircuts in the last 8 months to remove length; just layering cuts. I don't know I'm just really sad because it's going to take a long time to regrow again. I don't want this review to be an attack on Patrick because I know he's probably highly skilled barber; I am just upset because I assumed he and I were on the same page because I ended up getting one of those big transformation haircuts I didn't ask her. There's no amount of money someone could pay me to get one these cuts. The store itself is nice and parking is super easy. I also tipped 20 percent despite this. My boyfriend and his friends all came to get cut by Patrick aka pmoneyfadez and they were all satisfied by their cuts. Patrick is skilled and took his time. I've been booking my appointments with Patrick since July 2024 and he has always delivered exactly what I requested of him (especially when it comes to getting the Levi from Attack on Titan anime look). He does great scissor work as well as providing me with "knowledge" on how to style and maintain my hair texture. I have had three appointments with Patrick so far and every time that I've told him that I'm getting a haircut to get ready to see my girlfriend in Culver City in SOCAL, she can't seem to get her hands off of me after every fresh cut that Patrick blesses me with before my trip. read more

Found this new hidden gem in Willow Glen area. Took my son here to get a child's haircut. We booked with Jake as we had gone to him previously. We followed Jake here to this new shop and were so happy we did! Overall professional demeanor, great hot spot for kids and adults ! Jake has so much patience and his craft is undeniable. Aesthetically pleasing shop, but the true attraction is within! I personally only get cut by JR here. JR always provides great service and an excellent haircut. If you need a haircut, I would highly recommend JR as his skill set is massive allowing for many different styles. I have been getting my hair cut by Franco for the past few months before he moved to Knowledge Barbershop. He has an attention to detail and skill that I really appreciate. Always very satisfied with the hair cuts he gives me. He's also a really cool guy, which is why I decided to follow him to this new barbershop, even though it's a further drive. A good barber is hard to find. When I came to Knowledge Barbershop for the first time a week ago, I was pleased to see a clean, safe environment, where someone took my temperature when I entered. Social distancing was practiced. And the other barbers were friendly. And seems this place is dog friendly too. Also, it's located in a great area, downtown Willow Glen, where there is a lot of restaurants and shops to kill time if you're early or hungry after your cut. read more

Jon and David always keep my fade clean and crisp for years. They used to be at another barbershop in SJ, but their new shop is now on the Willow Glen strip. Prices are reasonable vs. some of the other barbershops in the area, and they do a full hour so they can take their time and make sure you get what you want. Only downside is word is getting out on how good they are, so last minute appointments are hard to come by. I do appreciate the online appointment system and COVID updates on their site too. read more

Franco is one of the dopest barber in the Bay Area. He takes his time making sure your cut comes out perfect every time. He is a super chill barber that gets to know his clients on a personal level and every time i go get a haircut, it's like catching up with a long time friend. Knowledge barbershop is also very welcoming as every time i come in, i am always welcomed, even if it's not by my barber, Franco. First, I want to say that I'm extremely happy for my brothas Jake & John. I've known Jake for a very long time when he used to cut at other shops, but now that he's open up this one - I couldn't be more excited. I can go on for days about how Jake cuts my hair and has been my go-to barber for 5+ years, but I want to highlight all of the barbers at the shop. They're all amazing and I would go with any of them if Jake was fully booked. I trust them that much. Now during these COVID times, their sanitation and precautionary measures are impeccable. Temperature is immediately checked upon arrival and each seat is more than 6 feet away from each other. Masks are required at all times and hand sanitizers are readily available for customers. If you haven't checked out Knowledge yet, you're missing out - especially if you're in Willow Glen. Give it a shot and trust me, you'll become a regular booking in advance. read more

Went in for a cut before Thanksgiving and the entire shop was clean and following all Covid regulations/guidelines. Jon has been my barber for several years and is a true master at his craft. You can tell just how much time and effort he puts in if you've seen any of his cuts. Their shop has very reasonable prices compared to other barbershops and is in a prime location in Willow Glen. I highly recommend on checking them out, but be sure to book in advance because spots do fill up fast. The entire shop is filled with talented barbers and has a very chill ambiance so if you are looking for an overall great experience Knowledge Barbershop is the place to go! read more

All the barbers were very welcoming and friendly. This shop was definitely different from any other barbershops I've been to in the Bay. I ended up getting cut by one of the newer barbers in the shop (Alvin) and asked for a Taper. It came out crispy and just how I wanted my Tapers to look. Location is great depending where you're from. Can leave the shop looking fresh while enjoying a couple drinks in the area. read more

Whenever I go to the shop, I want to be able to sit there and not have to worry if my barber is cutting my hair right. David gets it right every time. There are two leather couches, a coat hanger, and even a coffee machine there (not instant coffee - real, fresh ground coffee). Service JB is my guy at Concept, and he is not only skilled but he actively maintains me as a client. He documents each cut, familiarized himself with my hair type, and can consistently replicate previous cuts or make adjustments depending on what I'm going for. Usually I just go in with a vague request like "Just a clean up, maybe some shaping on the beard" and he always delivers with something that looks good. I'm satisfied with his work after every appointment.

Arlene cut my hair today, we had a nice chat and a great haircut. I love the shop layout, it really is like a museum and the upstairs vibe is great. Phil is a cool dude, I really enjoyed my time there today. Cheers and look forward to the next haircut

Even better, he is patient and takes the time to explain different methods and all of the fun insights behind different hair looks you can achieve. Also he makes recommendations to point you in the right direction, including other stylists at the salon that specialize in certain things. Highly recommend!

I had an appointment here the other day for a perm with one of barbers (Kevin/K-Luk) here who had a…read morerespectful portfolio on his social media. I showed him my reference pictures (loose flowy perm for middle part) and style (wolfcut) that I was hoping to achieve. He said we could achieve something similar to the pictures that I showed. I mentioned that I had processed hair on the back of my head and questioned how to proceed from that. He told me initially the perm wouldn't look right if he didn't my entire head so I agreed to proceed given the possibility that the perm may fry the back of my head. He also mentioned to me that I needed a haircut to which I asked him if I could add it on as I assumed I would be able like most of the other salons/barbers that I have been to before. He told me he couldn't as he was booked. He begins to perm my hair and talks to another colleague and mentions he going to avoid my processed hair. We finish the perm and he washes the solution out of my hair and shows me my hair. It's significantly curlier and different than what I expected. But didn't look too bad because it was still wet. I didn't want to say anything because I hoped once my hair dried, the perm would look less curly as it has in the past and I didn't want to say anything since I waited over a month to book this appointment. I had paid previously and tipped 20% during the booking of it. As I drive home, I noticed my hair looking more and more poofy on the sides--almost like those kids who grow out their hair/surfer hair. Once I get home, my hair is a lot more dry now and I noticed that the sides were all sticking out horizontally like a fish hook. I showed my girlfriend who told me that this was the worst thing she's ever seen. The sides were totally messed up and the back looked horrible. I ended up going to another salon that evening because I was in shock of how bad the perm turned out. I asked the stylist there if there was any way to layer and fix it, to which they informed they couldn't as the perm rods were not placed appropriately for a middle part and said the only way to fix it was it cut off. Given how bad the perm turned out, I opted to cut it off. I mentioned all of this to my barber the next day on his social and he didn't even seem to care. He told me I should've had my hair layered before the perm and that my hair looked weird because he didn't perm the processed hair. As a customer who showed him the reference picture, if he didn't believe he could achieve the results without layering my hair/didn't believe he could achieve it then why go through with at all. I would've skipped the perm or only done a haircut if that's what he believed was achievable from the reference picture. Even from the picture of the back I sent him, he could tell that the perm looked bad but let me walk out of the shop without even trying to fix it. I already paid/tipped beforehand so there's no incentive to fix a bad service because you're just an invoice at this point. The customer service at this places isn't good. If you gave someone a really bad perm/service and don't care about your mistake or don't care to offer ways to assist your client, it just shows you that you're just a dollar sign to them.

Chris always does a great job of not only giving him a great cut, but also being quick and helping my son feel really comfortable. Both of my sons always look so handsome after their cuts from Chris. I've have nothing but good experiences with the rest of the team as well: everyone is really friendly, welcoming, and kind. Definitely take the time to check out this shop!
