Close to our accomodation, we chose Bar Ri for our first dinner in Barcelona! Very nice interior, with an outdoor seating area across the road from the bar - however seeing as it is December, it was a bit chilly for that!
Seated very quickly (around 8:30pm on a Thursday) and were first brought a Spanish menu - but upon realising that we were tourists with very limited Spanish, an English menu was quickly produced!
There was a little miscommunication in ordering drinks, as she seemed in a bit of a hurry - I asked for beer for my partner and that was taken to mean one for both, and she whisked away without me having time to correct it. No matter, the drinks were good!
We ordered 3 tapas - Iberian ham, patatas bravas, and a Spanish omelette. When they arrived I thought they were quite small servings, but the flavours were very rich and we almost couldn't finish them. I thought the aioli on top of the potatoes was laid on very thickly (and I'm a girl who lives for aioli), but the flavours were good. Price was a little higher than I'd expect for the amount of food, but it was all good quality and in a good environment, so no complaints
All in all, a good first meal, and I'd eat there again.
*UPDATE, 10 DAYS LATER*
Did eat there again, for our last meal in Barcelona - this time went for a single plate each. The beef tenderloin for my partner, and the mushroom risotto for me, followed by tiramisu and lemon pie. The risotto was delicious, although the helping was very big and it got a little overbearing towards the end, partner loved the steak (which has a side of fries and grilled green peppers), and the desserts were absolutely divine. Along with a plate of bravas we shared, two beers and a bottle of water, it came to €49.35. Very full, and very happy. ¡Adiós, Barcelona! read more
