Any of the flavors of their danishes are a safe bet too, as they're seriously delicious, and we crave them often. We've tried a couple of their lunch options and some other pastries and would probably pass on those next time. Their scones tend to be on the dry side. Their coffee is good, though they don't offer many specialty flavor options if that's what you're looking for. We're still mourning two of our all-time favorites that have been discontinued: the homemade donuts every Sunday and the mushroom toast. Birchwood, please bring them back!

We walked in and were immediately greeted by a couple of chipper teenage hostesses and we were even able to pick our table. Our server seemed a little off at first but he warmed up after a little banter; perhaps he was just feeling us out. Beer menu was great but did not necessarily contain anything rare. I had a foam ipa and a stout from dorchester brewing to follow. I had the smash burger. It seemed like a true smash as it was crispy on the outside and had the right amount of grease. The house made chips were a nice addition as I'm not a huge French fry fan. My wife had the fig and prosciutto flatbread and she liked it. The fig paste was tasty, arugula was fresh and there was even some cheese pull. Overall, it was a nice visit and I wouldn't hesitate to go back based on how this visit went.

Really disappointing experience at The Shed in Franklin…read more This place used to be pretty good, which makes the decline even more noticeable. We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was surprisingly empty, yet the service still moved at an absolute snail's pace. With so few customers, there really was no reason for everything to take as long as it did. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the wait. The potstickers were particularly bad, and I felt ill the following day after eating them. The rest of the meal including the BBQ quesadilla and fries was mediocre at best and nowhere near the quality I remember from previous visits. The prices make the experience even harder to justify. If you are charging these prices, the food and service need to deliver, and neither did. I'm not sure what happened to The Shed, because I remember this being a solid local restaurant. Based on this visit, it has gone significantly downhill. Slow service, mediocre food, disappointing quality, and simply not worth the price. Really unfortunate because we used to enjoy coming here.

The space is a bit cozy with limited seating and lots of customers standing near the counter. I decided to place my order online via Toast as the posted menu prices in the store were the same and I could avoid the line at the counter. I ordered a Fruit & Oats Smoothie ($8.99 plus tax) and a grab & go Chicken Salad Sandwich ($6.99 plus tax). After waiting 10 minutes, I found my smoothie all set to go in the cooler near the counter and grabbed my sandwich from the other cooler near the window. The Fruit & Oats Smoothie had a thick texture with banana, strawberry, blueberry, peanut butter, oats & almond milk. This smoothie was not sweet at all. The chicken salad sandwich had soft dense chicken salad, carrots, celery, mayo & lettuce with three slices of multigrain bread (triple decker). I ate of the half the sandwich and toasted the other half the next day for lunch.

You order your food and wait a little bit, but I thought it was worth the wait. I ordered the chicken platter with fries and a side salad. The portions were really generous. The fries came out hot and crispy, and the chicken was extremely flavorful. It looked like there were onions and peppers mixed in with it, and it was honestly really, really good. The salad was good too, and the dressing was delicious. I also got the baklava, which I really enjoyed. The only thing I would mention is the pricing. The TVs inside showed the platter for around $11.99 or $12.99, but when I paid it was a couple dollars more. I did notice a sign underneath the TVs saying that the screens were frozen and to refer to the paper menu for current pricing. The problem is, I only saw one paper menu and it was underneath the TV, so it wasn't really obvious. I think having paper menus available for customers would make more sense. That being said, even with the updated pricing, I didn't think it was unreasonable. I can definitely see how someone could be frustrated by seeing one price on the screen and then being charged another, but for me it wasn't a huge difference or a dealbreaker. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and would definitely come back. Everything I ordered was good, the portions were generous, and the food had a lot of flavor.
