I did give Bar n Grill at 5 when I first returned to Topeka because in Texas you could not find a good Pork Tenderloin sandwich. Everything was brisket there. But BNG did have good Pork Tenders. THEN, I don't know what happened but they Pork Tender sandwich came out not warm and losing it's crisp outer coating and the onion rings were mushy and the coating on it was mushy also. We left. The same week we were having our large group meet their for the Sunday Morning Breakfast. We were all there but "NO COOK", there was a young lady there that did apologize. We all loaded up to go to another restaurant for a good meeting and good food. I have not been back but I drive by there when I am going to places along 21st street and very rarely do they have over 4 cars in the lot. I hate that. It is obvious that all food places have trouble keeping people but proprietors half to decide whether to work WITH the staff and pay a wage that keeps them and demands a good food for the customers. read more

This place is awesome. Great price and serving sizes that border on too large. The friendly staff is able to handle the busiest of nights and the food is always great no matter how busy they are. My personal favorites are their melt in your mouth gizzards... I swear they use some type of magic to make them soft and tender rather than hard and chewy like most gizzards... and I love the Brat burger. Went in yesterday afternoon (1/8/23) and ordered beers at the counter. Asked the bartender if we could take them out on the patio. She said sure and she'd have waitress bring them out. She brought out the beers and we were out there for maybe 15 mins with our beers when waitress came out with the ticket and said she was leaving. She didn't ask if she could cash us out or transfer to a new waitress because "she never left". It was chilly so we took our beers inside and that same waitress worked the entire time we were there. This place is constantly out of basic menu items. The building heating system is either broke, or they're too cheap to run the heater. Customers constantly remain in their winter coats and have even brought in blankets to stay warm. If they have the fireplace going, you'll leave smelling like a campfire. New owner has been seen drunk several times, as well as told customers to "f off" for complaining about the kitchen closing early. Building needs some major attention to appearance and updates inside, and outside. Most of the wait staff seem to hide in the kitchen without checking on you, or they stand in the corner on their phones. I can see why my favorite place to go has now lost business. read more

Extremely slow and poor service. Had to go find a waitress to take our order after waiting 30 minutes. It took an hour to get food and some of our food was brought to the table after others were through eating. The food was very bad. Meat was tough. Could hardly chew it. Had to go to the bar to get a refill on water. The manager was not customer friendly, threatening to bar us when a complaint was made and called us rude, threatened to ask for ID. Something to try and bet you will enjoy it! This small but big place has specials everyday of week and it's LOCAL! The place is decked out in some cool decor that fits the name and the staff that we encountered were super friendly and helpful. Friday night outing with the fam (aka this place is kid friendly for breakfast, lunch an dinner). There are nice pool tables and plenty of tables to have a good time. The food comes out on some cool tins very fitting for the name. Now for the food - we tried out the pickle fries for an appetizer. Let's just say ummmm maybe you will want two baskets. These things are literally fries - dip them in some ranch and you are set! Must Try!!!! I did over hear many of the tables trying the Friday special of fried devil eggs - will try next visit. Diabolo Chicken sandwich - grilled chicken breast and a decent size with melted pepper jack, bacon and some spicy with jalapeños. Very tasty. shrimp basket with fries - Good deal about 8 shrimps that were tasty and some decent crispy fries. Buffalo chicken wings (the app size) - good size wings and good flavor. The spice smells spicier than it is but still Has a bit of heat. It's a full bar with great specials to try - get a pint or something bigger and I am sure you will have a good time. Someone at work today suggested that we come try this place out. So we did. And it was great! The place was very nice inside with all new everything including a pool table. Service: very good. The girl who was our waitress was on the ball. Drinks were never empty and she came back to check on us often even though it was busy. Food: VERY good. Ok, to be fair, my wife and I were in a weird mood where we only only wanted appetizers. Don't judge me. But they were all very good! We shared the chili con queso, loaded cheese fries, and the barnballs (deep fried balls of hashbrowns, cheese and some kind of meat). All three were extremely good. I had lunch with friends at the Bar 'n Grill today. Ordered the pork tender sandwich. Holy moly. The thing had to be 10" or so in rough diameter. The bun is 6". I ate half a sandwich after paring the pork tender down. It was nice and crispy, and both it and the bun were quite tasty. Tried this place on the recommendation of someone else. It's tucked away and we had never noticed it. Easy to get to off 21st St. Liked the food and prices. Sandwiches were HUGE and are appropriate to split, even with hungry folks. We really liked the Pickle Fries! Right size and temperature. I was still thinking about these hours after I got home. We tried the Barnball variety and liked them. The bad thing was we couldn't tell which flavor was which. The server didn't help either. Service was our biggest issue. The waitress was not the friendliest and seemed annoyed with us coming but she did mix a great drink! I ordered a Moose burger this time and the ham was still cold and the mushrooms and onions were raw. The food was good, but the service was much to be desired. We went here for a family dinner with my parents and grandparents. Half the table received their food 30 minutes before the rest of the table. When asked when the rest of the table would get their food we were told that we would get it soon, but the fryer was backed up. We laughed at this as we were waiting on two hamburgers and a salad. After 10 more minutes the rest of the food arrived. The server also did not help to clean up soda that was spilled on the table. Drove 80 miles. Arrived only to find out the Sunday breakfast was 9-11. The picks on line was 10 am no stop time the red headed bar tender said it was 9 then 10 now back to 9. The sweet potato fries were lousy and the chicken caprese was just cheap and tasteless. They had a lot of Television sets for sports but when we walked in there was no volume on any game and no music playing so it was oddly quiet other than the sounds of people chattering. My son loves to play shuffle board so we go in often. The beer is always cold and the hangover burger is my favorite. The decor is great but the booths are very small. I drift wood tables are cool but the bar stool is uncomfortable. I do not like they have a pool league durning the week. It tends to draw a crowd that not cool for a family restaurant. read more

I ordered dinner through eat streets tonight and got the chicken nachos. This is the third time i've been here and the other two times were exceptionally good. Food and service included. Tonight I had the worst nachos of my life, hands down. When I called to let them know my chicken was overcooked and many items were forgotten she was fairly nice and asked to correct it. Overall we liked it and will go back. Several things on the menu we want to try. The cheese fries appetizer was very good. Portion size was too small. We had Chicken Diablo, Sweet chicken, Check tenders and a burger. All were good. The sweet potato fries were not as good. They were warm, not hot and were not at all crispy. Also portion size was too small, although they were only $1.50 so the price was not bad. The service was good. The atmosphere is very nice. Like the design and the remodel. Clean. Reasonably priced. I've always had really good food off of the menu here. I recommend the chicken leg sandwich or the burgers. Gizzards are the best you'll ever have and I generally don't care for them anywhere else. Drinks are pretty standard price for this type of place which is more than a hole in the wall bar but not outrageous. The noise of the place knocks it down a star for me. They really need to add some sort of sound dampening. Concrete floors, hard surface walls and everything just echoes. read more
