You come here for the view!! Grab a table outside and watch the people going to and fro il Campo; Siena's living room. Whether a respite after sightseeing all day or a cocktail at night Il Campo fits the bill. Service is quick and with a smile. The drinks are good for a tourist trap--I use that word cautiously. The drinks are brought out with aperitivos (snacks). It has straight forward prices--no cover--or other hidden "fees" as is common with Italian eateries with views like this. This is the BEST bar on Il Campo, not the best eatery. It is also not the cheapest. But damm: those views. As Anthony Bourdain would say: "Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways". read more

Bar Il Palio is a good spot to view the campanile as you drink wine. Rick Steves said go for the happy hour, but that seemed to no longer be a thing here. I asked the server to bring acqua del rubinetto (tap water) because I didn't want to pay for more bottled water on my trip, but she refused and then became aloof. I tried Brunello di Montalcino, which tasted good but like most other dry reds to me, so I'm a bit unrefined in my palate. read more

We really enjoyed eating lunch in the outdoor cafe mid February! The sun was shining and it was a great spot to people watch and enjoy a quick meat and cheese board with some local wine! We absolutely recommend this stop for anyone visiting Siena! read more

Great location for people watching. Arrived in Siena late afternoon, weather was nice and wanted to get some wine and enjoy the scenery. Wine was really good and reasonably priced. Decided to order bruchetta with tomatoes, mozzarella, and olive oil. Hubs decided to order a grappa after wine and bruchetta he had been dying to try it since we arrived in Italy. He loved it just strong alcohol flavor. Definitely recommend this place for outdoor seating. Okay here's my update I absolutely loved this place however I think the waitress had an issue (something to do with a stick somewhere). We waited for 15 minutes and she waited on everyone else except us. Finally I went in an asked if I could order from the bar he told me the waitress would be with us soon. She brought everyone else chips and peanuts except us and we ordered a lot of wine and food. I will never come back here again. I know it's in a great area but if you are a true yelper you will help me boycott this establishment that I have raved about and come here 4 times. read more

I stopped here late afternoon to enjoy a beer while waiting for the rest of my traveling companions. I found a spot outside on a cool afternoon in late Fall and thoroughly enjoyed nursing a beer while people watching. It was a bit pricey and the service was typical Italian-slow, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a decent beer list that included a nice Belgian ale, which I found to be a nice change up from all the wine we'd been drinking. We didn't eat dinner here, so I can't comment on the quality of the food. But the atmosphere was so perfect, my companions joined me for another round after they arrived, and we toasted to a beautiful sunset in Tuscany. What's not to like? read more

This is the worst restaurant on the Campo. Their food is okay, but the service is nonexistent. We couldn't find our waitress for a good hour. My mixed drink (planter's punch) tasted like diluted old lime juice. They also played a Creedance Clearwater Revival greatest hits on loop super loudly. Bleh. We were visiting Siena for the day and really had no idea where to eat. The central square is surrounded by restaurants, all with outdoor seating and fairly similar menus. We settled on this one because we were able to sit outside. They had a decent menu - wasn't the best, wasn't the worst. We had some challenges with our server - my boyfriend ordered some type of Morelli beer and got a glass of Rose instead. She quickly fixed the mistake, and left us to people-watch. read more

Great location right in the center of Siena. Some of the best lasagna I have ever tasted can be had here. The pappardelle cinghalle is also great. Nice leisurely pace here, they don't rush you here. Relax, eat, drink and soak in the history. read more
