It might look very boring, but it was one of the most delicious things I've ever tried out. The mix of spices were incredible and I don't think I've ever tried out anything like this. My friend loved her meal as well and we both think that this ended up being the best restaurant in Miami where we went during this trip. Ambiance of the restaurant was also stunning and you could see historic and thoughtfully picked decorations all over the restaurant. Servers were amazing as well, welcoming and conversational with a great attitude. Hope to be back someday!

The ARG Bartender was nice and helped me sort thorough some fun cocktails! This was the fun part. TIP ALERT - I forgot about the foreigner tax. I thought my bill was high but I was a single sitting by myself on a Thursday Night. Never thought they would add 20% automatically. Welp, they did and I definitely overpaid for everything. It's on me but buyer beware. 3: 1) Dark & Stormy followed by a Mezcal Mule hit! We're rolling.... 2) My favorite Cuban dish is Lechon Asádo (braised pork dish). This is the -2 stars. I need my braised pork to have a little char, little crispy fatty edges, and a salty/mojo finish. Lechon was cooked to a very moist tender and good consistency just not how I like it. AND they are my stars so I will do what I want! 3) Accoutrements were done well (White Rice, Black Beans, and charred plantains). No complaints here. Good start but the 1 note Lechon Asádo hurt me!

The atmosphere is dark and sexy inside. It's dimly lit and sets the mood. There is patio seating if you prefer that. The service is their downfall. There is an automatic 20% gratuity added regardless of service. It def hinders the experience imo. Why provide excellent service when you know you are getting a good tip anyway?? Overall, mid service is worth it for the delicious tacos.

This…read moreis a typical tourist trap probably connected with the local cartel that keeps market prices high and overcharge tourists staying in the walkable area. Their tacos are not bad but for street tacos they are pricey even during happy hour. They charge a standard 18% gratuity. They might as well charge that fee into the food price because it is mandatory but most likely they separate the line item to avoid additional sales tax on revenue. The place is dark and dingy for a highly rated place. After this first day experience in south beach im avoiding any of the other popular tourist restaurants for the rest of my stay. Stick with other non traditional places along Collins and Washington and you should be fine.

The menus for pretty much every Cuban restaurant in South Beach are copy paste replicas so the menu had pretty standard options. I started with a passionfruit mojito. It was amazing, one of the best i have ever had. I also got a cubano, which was good, but nothing mind-blowing. My friend ordered the churrasco sandwich, but they gave her the plate instead. The server then brought her bread so she could make her own sandwich, which was a nice touch and the price was the same. She enjoyed it and it looked like it was cooked perfectly to her liking.

Basically all seating is outside, so if you're looking to escape the heat, probably not the best fit. Nice vibes outside but just something to be aware of! One of the chair legs literally broke underneath one of our party when she was just trying to scoot it back. We got given a new chair from the empty table next to us and moved on with the night. I really don't like how, when you order a sandwich, they ask "do you want fries with that?" So that you assume it it'll be free (as is very normal with sandwiches) when it's actually asking if you want to add an additional $10 side. Food wasn't bad, but not great. I think the empanada was my favorite, I loved the cilantro sauce with it (I just love cilantro!). Another in our party had the lobster and thought it was pretty good. But, the meat on all the sliders felt pretty dry and not that flavorful. I wished they had more sauce with or on them, which I would rather the meat itself was good enough I didn't want to cover it in sauce to make it good. I was so excited for flan, which I love, but I felt the texture was softer and more like pudding in my mouth than the firm custard texture I want. Also overall really expensive but I guess it's an expensive area? There were 6 of us with over $500 total and that felt like a lot.

We decided to try something new this time and stayed next door from here so it was convenient and we were able to walk in without a reservation. They unfortunately didn't have the Palomilla that I usually order so I had to order something different. I ended up ordering their Vaca Frita. My wife went with her usual Ropa Vieja. Overall the service was great. The food came out in a decent time. We also ordered drinks which did take a little longer than I would have wanted. My wife ordered their mojito and I went with their Miami Vice drink. My wife's Ropa Vieja was delicious. It came with white rice and maduros. My Vaca Frita was delicious. I ordered mine with arroz congri and maduros. The Vaca Frita came topped with grilled onions and was so flavorful. I usually order a Palomilla but going forward might have to alternate between the two. I can definitely see myself returning here.

They have such cute drinks! I just got pineapple juice but my friends got their coconut drink and mojito and said it was to die for! They give you these plantain chips to snack on and they are so good! It's got a sweet, salty, and crunchy chip texture to it. For an appetizer, we got a sampler which had ropa vieja, plantains, empanadas, shredded pork, and some large fried potatoes. I loved that so you get to try a little bit of everything. The ropa vieja tasted just like grandmas. They use ropa vieja as the filling in the empanadas. The fried potato's was steak fry cut style. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just how a perfect fry should taste! Everyone really liked the vaca frita! I think that's a must try! It's shredded beef marinated in this delicious citrus marinate. They fry it afterwards so it's pull apart, melt in your mount soft, with a nice crispy crunch to it. I think this is a must get dish. The desserts were delicious too! The flan was perfectly soft and creamy. The tres leches was delicious as well. This is a great place to have some good Cuban and enjoy a beautiful night out in Miami!

For a Friday evening, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but the ambiance was actually great. The music definitely added to the experience, especially some good Marc Anthony tunes in Spanish that I really enjoyed! The atmosphere was lively and gave us that Latin vibe we were hoping for. Our server, Diego, was incredibly attentive and really went above and beyond. At times it almost felt like he was trying too hard to make sure we were happy, but honestly, we appreciated the effort! We started with the empanadas and the avocado salad with chicken. The chicken on the salad was disappointing. It had the texture and appearance of previously frozen/reheated chicken rather than the freshly grilled chicken we were expecting. For our entrées, we tried both the steak and a chicken dish. Unfortunately, neither worked for us. Both lacked the flavor we were expecting and instead seemed to rely heavily on salt. We ended up not finishing either dish. The cocktails didn't save the evening either. I started with a lychee martini, which wasn't as good as I had hoped, followed by a Mai Tai that also could have been better. I also saw my drink being taste-tested twice at the bar before it was brought over, which admittedly left me a little unsure about drinking it afterward. And then... THE FLAN! Finally, something I can rave about. They make a VERY good flan, and it was easily the highlight of our dinner. That's all I'll say! :) Overall, the ambiance was great, the music was fun, Diego worked hard to make sure we were taken care of, and the flan was excellent. Unfortunately, when it came to the actual entrées and cocktails, the experience just didn't deliver for us. There are too many Cuban restaurants around to explore, so we'll be trying others rather than returning to this one.

The restaurant dining room felt spacious and chic; if the weather had been less humid, we may have enjoyed lunch outdoors, pool-side. The menu was concise and seemed to cover all the basics - a few standard appetizers (dips, tartare), salads, pasta, and steak/fish/chicken/etc. entrees. Because it was so hot that day, I chose the Collins Salad, which sounded refreshing, with a side of beef empanadas. Expecting an ordinary green salad, I was pleasantly surprised by the salad's explosion of color and flavor - coconut, mango, heart of palm, pickled onion, and bell pepper - it all went together so well. The beef empanadas were also delicious; the puff pastry shell was light and flaky, and the beef was juicy and well-seasoned. Our server was friendly and frequently topped off our water glasses (much appreciated when it was 98 degrees outside), although our table seemed to have been forgotten once our food was brought out. We enjoyed our elevated lunch at Bar Collins overall and appreciated the convenience of the location.
