But luckily there was a customer that overheard us talking from Texas and told us that this was highly recommended by their tour guide. So we decided to go in, we had a little bit of a language barrier and we thought we ordered one sandwich to share but we ended up ordering two different sandwiches and I'm glad we did because they were both incredible. They literally have two tables at the very back of the restaurant by this centuries old brick wall. what are the tables was literally getting up as we were checking out so we were able to go back there and sit. I highly recommend this place instead of waiting for the other place around the corner.

The servers are so nice and funny here. We really enjoyed our server particularly, but everyone was kind. I had gone back and forth all day about whether I wanted to try the Florentine steak, but I'm glad that we did. It was gorgeously cooked and well seasoned. The sides of potatoes and spinach were also stellar - I eat a lot of potatoes and those were at the top of my list. Highly recommend, and get the steak. It's cheaper here than other places also!

Tonight we were all tired and decided to walk a few hundred yards down the hill for dinner. First…read morethings first though -- reservations. Our time was set for 7:30, but we arrived about 15 minutes early and they gladly seated us anyway. Our table was downstairs in the basement area, and let me tell you something... these little Italian restaurants have some of the coolest downstairs dining spaces on the planet. This one may honestly be my favorite I've visited so far. It was cozy, packed full of character, and had that old-world atmosphere that just makes you want to sit back and enjoy the evening. Our waitress was super sweet and incredibly patient with us Americans from the Deep South as we worked through the menu and tried not to butcher the Italian language too badly. Eventually we loaded up our order, but the only thing that really matters is this: I ordered the Filletto di Scottona alla Griglia cooked medium rare... although I'm convinced that's the only way they cook steaks in Italy. That plate hit the table with a small side salad, and after the first bite -- BAM -- this thing was excellent. The steak was fresh, tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I kept working through it bite by bite and loved every minute of it. Fantastic steak. Excellent atmosphere. Great service. The stars must have been aligned today because somehow I hit two 5-star meals in one day, and this one is definitely one of them. I'll absolutely be back eventually.

The weather was great so we ate outside on the not very busy street. The two of us ordered main courses of tripe, and steak with a side of roasted potatoes and a couple of glasses of chianti. The problem was the food came at different times. My wife's tripe came first and we waited for my steak as her dish cooled. When the steak finally came without the potatoes I reminded our waiter of our order and he literally yelled back "this is not self service". Yes, I know, but typically main courses come at the same time. I tried to order another glass of wine in my bad Italian and he raised his hand and blew me off and turned around to walk into the restaurant. He was extremely rude, dismissive, inattentive and uninterested in providing good service. We are staying in the neighborhood for almost a week and despite the food being good, we won't be back.

With both outside covered seating and ample inside seating, place was busy & happening. We started off with a pleasant house wine, perfectly setting the tone for the meal & we paired it with simple Bruschetta which was fresh and a flavorful start. And for main course got different entrees. Wife got a classic Quattro Stagioni pizza, which was delicious and well-prepared, and i went with their creamy Risotto provola affumicata e zucchine, a rich and savory dish that was truly satisfying, and ordered a side of perfectly cooked potatoes. To call it a night, we indulged in a truly tasty and rich Tiramisu, savoring every bite of it- a perfect end to a wonderful meal. Beyond the excellent food and service, the restaurant itself offered a charming ambiance. I have noticed tarot paintings all over the walls. I-Tarocchi is definitely a spot we'd recommend for a delicious and authentic Florentine dining experience. Not a fancy looking restaurant but food was tasty!

I love Firenze! It's my home away from home. It's the place I go to feel happy…read more Part of that happiness, is discovery, new places, and realizing that, without exception, I thankfully have never had a bad meal in Florence, Italy. Trattoria Pallottino it's just that. A new discovery, and a menu filled with yummy sounding food. This definitely is a locals only location, and, despite the fact that seating is very, very tight, it seems to be a local date spot, both for dating couples, as well as, married couples. Once we tried the food, it was easy to see why. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, because I had been craving a favorite, and it definitely did not disappoint. It was layered to look like lasagna, and for once, I was able to finish my entire meal in one sitting. The portions are average, not too generous, not too minimal . Lasagna was also ordered because just like gelato, we sometimes feel compelled to try the same dish in different places to compare which one is better than the last. I had a couple of bites of the lasagna, and while I found it to be tasty, but not anything extraordinary. Especially, after I just had amazing lasagna in Venice, this one definitely did not necessarily meet that mark. Service was impeccable, and the gentleman that runs the restaurant is not only attractive, but he was incredibly welcoming. Everything about the restaurant is super tight, and when crowded, you definitely need to feel comfortable sitting next to people that you may or may not know. They offer a variety of wines and other beverages, and I love the fact that it's frequented by locals versus tourists. The restrooms are a little bit of a trip... Nothing is necessarily obvious about how anything in the restroom works from the lighting, to turning the water on at the sinks. There's a foot pedal for the water in the sinks, and some other contraption to actually turn the lights on. The bathrooms are clean though, and that's a huge plus. Go for the eggplant, and stay for the enjoyment of dining with locals.
