I was then told when I asked, that doesn't apply to 'specials' despite being told I could apply it to any food. The person behind the bar also tried to tell me that there was 10% off the bill when I ordered - which was wrong as anyone can take 10% off in their head without much mental agility. Anyway. So after all that and her walking off to find out if a drink was included, something she said to me, and then coming back to say no sorry - no discount and no drink. She took the order. We then got 3 roast dinners that were stone cold. We returned them to a 'oh sorry i guess' kind of attitude. We then had them brought back to us - the same food on the same plates - supposedly reheated. First of all we should have been given fresh plates and new food... but worst of all they were still cold?!?! What had been done to them? What chef in their right mind sends the same plates out again- and still cold?? This is potentially the worst dining experience experience I've had in my life in Sydney ... and it was a special occasion for us. Well done for ruining it.

On the third morning of our stay, we were looking for an early-open breakfast eatery or coffee shop…read morebecause we wanted breakfast but not to stuff ourselves before our late lunch at the Sydney Opera House's Bennelong restaurant. Our hotel's concierge suggested we look into breakfast eateries or a bakery at nearby Barangaroo wharf and pointed us two blocks down on Sussex Street, where we stumbled upon Wild Sage. Walking up to their patio dining area, we were greeted by a friendly young man who offered us a choice between patio and indoor seating and provided menus. We chose to dine outdoors to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and cool yet comfortable temperature. After being seated, the young man, brought us glasses of chilled water while we waited for the server to take our morning beverage and breakfast orders. Our cheery server, Marissa, came by shortly after delivering another table's order and we were ready to order right away. FOOD & BEVERAGE: -Sticky Chai Tea: I requested the chai tea as its blend of natural spices with soy milk appealed to me on this slightly chilly morning. As I poured the steamy steeping hot chai tea through the strainer into the glass, its full aromas wafted towards me as I "aerated" or pulled the tea. $8.50 AUD -Proscuitto Toastie: Triple cheese (Gruyere, mozzarella, & scamorza), sliced proscuitto, truffle bechamel, & pickles on soy linseedsourdough. Although we're slightly lactose-intolerant, my husband decided to order this "upscale" ham and cheese sandwich. It was so rich in flavors and textures that he could only eat half the portion even though he was tempted to finish both sandwich halves. Notably, the toasted sourdough's crisp, crunchy, exterior and warm chewy interior tasted of caramelization and nuttiness. Its tangy sourness offered a savory balance to the creamy, slightly nutty and sweet scamorza and mozzarella cheeses. The creamy cheeses balanced the savory saltiness from the proscuitto and Gruyere. $24 AUD -Truffle Mushroom Toast: I selected this open faced toasted sourdough sandwich which was generously topped with roasted mixed mushrooms, confit garlic and truffle butter, thyme, goat cheese, crispy leeks, and poached eggs. The roasted mixed mushrooms flavors were enhanced "just right" with the truffle butter without being overpowered. This vegetarian sandwich was protein-packed, filling, and very flavorful. $26 AUD We took our time over breakfast while discussing our Sydney exploration plans at this clean, bright, and friendly cafe. It's too bad we didn't have more time in Sydney to return for more but, isn't that the dilemma while traveling? "Too many restaurants, too little time."

This is the old Neild Ave - what a space - just feast your eyes on all those lights and all that wood. Whats this about the staff not knowing their business? I disagree - they were thorough with the menu and our endless questions re serving sizes and whether or not we ordered too much or too little. Nick in particular smashed through it - delivered all orders flawlessly. Starting off with some Coffin Bay Pacific oysters (is there anything better that a squize of lemon and a crack of pepper?? I think not), beetroot with almond and goats cheese and the sweetest scallops - perfect starters. For main was a very memorable baked snapper made to share and sides of green beans and kipflers - outstanding! Not to take away from our waiter Nick but for me, Chef Manny was the highlight. The sweetest man, sending out a dessert with a lit candle - on the house ... such a beautiful and unexpected gesture! Here's a hot tip, sit at the bar for a quick drink before sitting at your table - why? The bar staff (Heidi in particular) worked it like no ones business - knew her stuff back to front, up down and sideways .. plus its always great to be a tad loaded before eating.

High high celings and various sections for different dining needs. Food is true to the farm-to-table philosophy. It was yes and no. Two vegetable side dishes were nice but kind of forgettable. Presentation of the fish special was sort of intimidating (in an awkward rock salt basket with splayed fish head by the side) and the taste wasn't selling it to me either. Would I return? Perhaps for a glass of wine, some breakfast and to oogle that voluminous room one more time.

When we arrived at 8 though they were happy to sit us down and there were a few other empty tables around. It took a good 45mins after we ordered for the entree to come and then another 45mins for the main to arrive so I was really hungry. I asked the waiter if he could hurry up with dessert and that only took 5mins. Go figure. At least during that time they came around twice to offer me complimentary bread. I had a little bit of a tough time ordering because the menu isn't very extensive. For the entree we had the Raw 9+ Wagyu shoulder, grilled enoki mushrooms which was fantastic. So off to a good start food wise. For mains then we had the John Dory and Lamb. I had a bit of a tough time deciding on my mains as there were 3 fish dishes and the rest were meat dishes. I would've loved there to have been another non fish seafood dish for me to choose. Our mains were accompanied by the potato puree which was far better than either main unfortunately. For dessert we had the chocolate cake with chestnut cream, caramel snap and berries. Not the best dessert I've had but then again not bad either. Overall I think I was just a bit underwhelmed by the experience and was stung with a 1.5% credit card surcharge at the end of the meal. I just don't quite understand how the local asian takeaway shop is able to cop the credit card fee if I spend over $30 but a place like this isn't when I'm spending close to $200. Can someone help explain that to me?

The menu is NOT extensive however perfect offering six entrees, six mains and six desserts and some very appealing specials. The oyster salad ($23) for an entree is something you must try. The Kingfish main with white asparagus and fennel is delicious although slightly overcooked and with most mains priced in the $40 range the fine dining seems a little bit staid and still in the 1980's and we are not living in an uncertain post GFC environment. The dessert menu is tempting even if you are totally full you feel at least compelled to order something to taste. Their take on a fruit salad is sensational with mango, passion fruit and a scoop of ice cream with coconut ice on top. Their cheese selection is impeccable which includes a Fromage Daffonise. The staff are very helpful, friendly and know the menu very well. They also know the wine list and were able to recommend suitable wines matched with food. The space is deceptively large and the purple water glasses and decor set the mood for a wonderful meal.
