Inside we were greeted by warm welcomes and smiles from Kelli and Christine. Both were so gracious walking us through the menu. We opted for brisket and two different kinds of ribs. And let me tell you, the BBQ was superb! It was so good that we came back 4 days later to try the hump day fix menu. A menu that consists of lunch items. The burgers and taco we tried were just as good. If you're in the area (or even if you're not) make sure you stop by for some great BBQ!

The potato salad is another quiet win, better than average, and a great side for nearly anything on the menu. The brisket is tender, though I wish it had more pepper. Same story with the salmon, its solid but nothing overly memorable. The ribs didn't hit my personal taste; they lean very sweet, best description is big red with cream soda l, but they're extremely tender and could definitely appeal to anyone with a sweeter preference. The peach cobbler is really good. It's built more like a bread pudding, served warm with ice cream, not overly sweet, and light enough that I ended up finishing the whole serving. The staff here is genuinely welcoming, and the place has a fun, lively energy. While eating, I overheard locals saying they eat here twice a day and at current beef prices, that tells you something.

The last few times we've been there. It seems like the food has not been near as good as it used to be. We stopped there today on our way home from Port Aransas, Texas, then have never been so disappointed in the poor quality lack of taste and complete lack of Customer Service. When we walked in my wife heard a guy and a girl in the back arguing about which one had to come out and take our order and slice the brisket. The attitude didn't get any better throughout. The brisket was very tough hard to chew, and the ribs were only half cooked and almost all fat, basically inedible. I took it back to the counter and they really didn't care. The two people at the counter at that time just looked at me like don't come back if you don't like it. Well that's exactly what's gonna happen? I'm never going back as I said earlier the food has been getting less and less acceptable and they finally hit the limit on. Totally unacceptable.

With only three restaurants in the small town of Blessing, you certainly can't go wrong with BBQ. You can smell the flavor in the smoke, once arriving at Smokin A's. I just happened to arrive before the long line lunch rush. You order at the counter & the courteous staff members bring your food to the table. Fountain drinks & tea are available self serve. I ordered the brisket & sausage plate with beans & potato salad. The brisket was amazing, tender, flavorful & just fell apart in my mouth. The sausage was also very good & had a tasty smoked flavor. The BBQ sauce was prefect, not too watered down & really enhanced the meal. The beans were also good, but the overly mayonnaise drenched potato salad recipe could be improved. Also, only chicken leg quarters are offered on the menu. No chicken breast option, which is my favorite healthier choice. Still... it was a very good first dining experience! I will certainly try again.
