Banzai Sushi is my favorite date night spot with my girlfriends! My bestie and I always come here for our favorite sushi and a good yap session. I usually join their Yelp waitlist and we get seated pretty quickly! My go tos are their sashimi, caterpillar roll, rainbow roll, miso soup, shishito peppers, and of course a good lychee martini. Their chocolate lava cake is also good to share. We're basic just your typical sushi orders, but it's GOOD to me LOL. I absolutely LOOOVEEE their lychee martinis. I also just love the ambiance here. I usually come around dinner/sunset, and it's such a nice vibe. Sometimes they can get busy and the food takes a little longer, but they're always good about letting you know when there's going to be a wait. They have regular seating and Japanese style seating, and we always somehow end up with Japanese seating. They usually have some surf playing on the projector too. Overall, this is just one of my favorite spots to meet up with my bestie, eat some good sushi, have a couple drinks, and yap for hours. read more

This place is surrounded by some VERY clever stray cats -- how smart to live by a sushi spot! They're friendly and good company, too. Service was very warm and attentive and the food was solid. We went to Banzai Sushi for our daughter's 13th birthday. There was a little bit of a wait, but it was not as long as they told us. We are here on vacation from California and are big sushi fans. We loved Banzai so much, we came here twice for dinner on our one-week vacation. Everything was fantastic from the quality of the fish to the rolls and sake selection. Our favorites included nigiri (hamachi, salmon, and kampachi), the lemon drop roll, hamachi abuti (a torched roll), poke bomb, and the Hamachi kama special which was the thickest Hamachi kama we've ever seen. The crispy rice appetizers were good too. We sat in the chairs but they also have fun cushions were you can sit on the ground. The service was warm, friendly, and quick. We were too busy diving in to the delicious food to capture many photos but take my word for it, everything was fantastic. We also loved the sake selection! read more

The tuna was probably the best I've ever had -- incredibly fresh, buttery, and flavorful. We ordered the Special ($28), Cucumber Salad ($7), Sashimi Trio ($35), and a Philadelphia Roll ($19). Every dish was beautifully plated and tasted great. Our server, Yasuko, was friendly and attentive, and the service throughout the meal was excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and very "North Shore" -- casual but with a focus on quality. If there's one drawback, it's the prices, which felt a bit high for lunch. That said, the freshness and quality of the fish, along with the service, definitely justify most of it. I absolutely love this spot! After an event at Gunstock Ranch, we decided to have dinner here. It was my first time, and the ambiance walking up was so cute. Our large party was seated in the Japanese-style area with floor seating and pillows--such a unique and cozy touch. The lighting and overall vibe were perfect. I was on a no-rice diet, so ordering was a bit of an adventure. I went with the hamachi kama (yellowtail collar)--not on the menu, but you can order it! It was cooked to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I also had the eggplant miso appetizer and shishito peppers, both of which were excellent. My friends couldn't stop raving about their rolls. I loved it so much, I came back the very next day for a solo self-care date. My server (a sweet, friendly older Japanese waitress--wish I remembered her name!) was incredibly kind and patient. We chatted, and she shared that she was from Japan and told me about their specials on Sundays. My lychee martini that night was made perfectly--smooth, balanced, and just the right sweetness. I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and finally did. All the way in the town of Haleiwa is this sushi bar & restaurant. It's located inside the North Shore Market place, so there is ample parking. Some days it's hard to find parking so plan ahead. They offer only take out and outdoor seating. There are a few seating areas inside but it's just the sushi bar and some high top tables. My party chose to sit on the floor but there is also table seating if you're a not comfortable sitting on the floor. The interior is traditionally Japanese inspired with a island twist, so Okinawa. Lol just a joke among friends. Anyway, I thought it would be a tourist trap, but the sushi and fish is delicious. I ordered MISO SOUP and the POKE BOMB: which is a cucumber makimono topped with a generous amount of avocado. big eye ahi (tuna), and some salad mixture. Drizzled with spicy miso sauce. Definitely recommend. My friend had the SEARED SALMON SALAD: which comes with a sesame-citrus dressing, on a bed of greens. Sashimi style Salmon on top. According to her the salmon is thinly sliced and seared perfectly, only thing the dressing over powered the salad and that it was a little salty for her taste. Ask for the dressing on the side. Because of the area, the price points are moderate to pricy depending on the fish and time of day. They do offer specials and happy hour, just ask your server. read more

This was such a fun experience! It was my first time sitting on the floor at a sushi bar, which made it really unique. The sushi was fresh and tasty, and the prices were super reasonable. We also tried matcha beer, which was interesting and worth trying if you're feeling adventurous. Sitting on the floor was definitely an experience I'd recommend--but maybe not if you're older or don't have flexible hips, as it got a little uncomfortable for me after a while. Last night, after swimming at Laniakea Beach, we stopped in for dinner at Banzai. This place has a great atmosphere! It seems very authentic and the seating options include high top, standard table and lower tables where you sit on a cushion (or the floor, if you prefer). The servers are very friendly and attentive. There were many sushi options, but we selected the Volcano, the Firecracker, the Crunchy and the California Tempura rolls. We also got a cucumber salad and an avocado salad. We were big fans of the Firecracker (very fresh), the Crunchy and the California Tempura rolls, but the Volcano roll was just so-so. The salads were very good and acted as a perfect appetizer. I would like to try Banzai again (should we get the opportunity to return). Try it out! read more

But what really made the experience was our server, Liliana. From the moment we sat down she was warm, welcoming, and attentive. She went out of her way to make sure our table had everything we needed and gave thoughtful recommendations that ended up being our favorite dishes of the night.
