Gorgeous and good vegetarian options. Prices are fair and parking is usually good. Would recommend!

We are here on vacation from California and are big sushi fans. We loved Banzai so much, we came here twice for dinner on our one-week vacation. Everything was fantastic from the quality of the fish to the rolls and sake selection. Our favorites included nigiri (hamachi, salmon, and kampachi), the lemon drop roll, hamachi abuti (a torched roll), poke bomb, and the Hamachi kama special which was the thickest Hamachi kama we've ever seen. The crispy rice appetizers were good too. We sat in the chairs but they also have fun cushions were you can sit on the ground. The service was warm, friendly, and quick. We were too busy diving in to the delicious food to capture many photos but take my word for it, everything was fantastic. We also loved the sake selection!

Yummy sushi spot on the North Shore! Banzai Sushi Bar has such a really relaxed vibe. You can sit inside or out front at low floor-style tables for a more intimate feel. I got the chirashi bowl and it was so worth it for the price! It was super fresh seafood, generous portions, and plenty of rice. My friend loved their mango roll too. The staff are really attentive and accommodating with food allergies, which I appreciated. Overall, delicious sushi, a cozy vibe, and great service - definitely recommend!

Banzai Sushi Bar - Haleiwa, HI 66-246 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712 Visited: November 9, 2025 Total (before tip): $93.20 We stopped at Banzai Sushi Bar in Haleiwa for lunch and were really impressed with the quality of the fish and overall presentation. The tuna was probably the best I've ever had -- incredibly fresh, buttery, and flavorful. We ordered the Special ($28), Cucumber Salad ($7), Sashimi Trio ($35), and a Philadelphia Roll ($19). Every dish was beautifully plated and tasted great. Our server, Yasuko, was friendly and attentive, and the service throughout the meal was excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and very "North Shore" -- casual but with a focus on quality. If there's one drawback, it's the prices, which felt a bit high for lunch. That said, the freshness and quality of the fish, along with the service, definitely justify most of it. Overall, Banzai Sushi Bar is a great choice for sushi lovers visiting Haleiwa -- fresh fish, top-notch tuna, and great service in a laid-back island setting. I'd gladly come back again.

Amazing atmosphere, staff, and food! Loved every appetizer, roll, and dessert we ordered. Out of all the rolls the fried hawaiian was our favorite, we ended up ordering 3 more rounds of it The salmon was cooked to perfection. Overall 10/10 would recommend to anyone and can't wait to go back!

Best sushi thus far!!! I have been waiting to have sushi for months, due to very time I am somewhere I haven't been impressed, until now!! So fresh, flavorful, and new! My whole party enjoy each roll. We cannot wait to go back! This is a cute small restaurant in the back of a small shopping area. Make sure you get on the waitlist list, before you are hungry! Love the outdoor seating and having the option to seat in chairs or the floor. Service was on point! Never had an empty glass of water! Which for Hawaii and the heat is important! The lychee martini was amazing, not too sweet! We ended our night with the chocolate lava cake, crème brûlée, and the special pumpkin crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was a 10 out of 10. But I want to say the one and only disappointment we had the whole night was with the chocolate lava cake it was slightly dry. This place is on the high side of cost for the special rolls; however, for the flavor and freshness to me it is worth every penny.

These were the best hash browns/potatoes we've ever had and our fav thing on the menu. Server said the chef won't share his secret - must try! Hub ordered the "Haleiwa Breakfast Plate" @ $18 - solid! Bacon + "Potato Hash" + $4 - perfect breakfast. I never order pancakes/french toast but felt the vibe and ordered the "French Toast" @ $16. OMG - thought I'd eat a couple pieces but ended up eating it all! The bread is fresh and super light so u don't feel like u ate a ton of carbs. Not covered in heavy syrup- some kind of honey; the fruit was sweet - another "best" I've ever had. The staff all work together so someone is always checking on you - and they all make eye contact! I originally ordered the Earl Grey Lemonade (also delicious) but after trying the Easy Fixx, had to order another for myself. We kept the Ube theme going with the Ube pancakes with fresh berries & sweet orange anglaise. The anglaise... I could eat cupfuls of it. As for the Local loco moco, I love good Hawai'i comfort food, but the flavors on this plate was elevated than your typical. Haleiwa breakfast plate was also delicious... we ordered a second round of the Portuguese sausage. Lastly, the server Kalei'a is sweet and provides excellent service. So happy we stumbled across this place.

I was really torn between 3 stars because the cooks did well here and they deserve 4 stars. The rest of it deserves 2. This is a tourist area, I get it. Unfortunately, it felt like the bar is low here.. I support local business when we can, especially when we celebrate special occasions. This was my birthday dinner and I brought my family here to celebrate with me. It's disappointing they would treat local or tourists subpar or different. I know what it means to have a good relationship with a server and have a beautiful and exciting, dining experience. I a did not have that here. The hostess were fine, I do wish she had encouraged us to wait for the patio the extra few minutes. The inside dining area was okay but with children in our party, it would have been better for us to sit outside on the patio so the kids could play in the grass area while eating waiting for food or while adults were chatting. My kids could see kids playing from our table inside and wanted to be there too. The gratuity for a party of 7 at 20% is unfavorable. Our service here was not worthy of a 20% tip unfortunately. Our check was about $400. For an update. We again went to the other location two weeks later and it was in fact 18% for gratuity. 18-25% related to the servers service is what we provided for their service and attention. The lack of kindness in our server Rhys at this location was evident and I felt like we annoyed him just existing. I don't think he smiled at all. He didn't seem like he wanted to be there. I get we all have off days and a party that have 5 minors, 3 of which were kids menus doesn't equate for poor service or annoyance. It's still a good check and tip from us. On to the food--- The prime rib was perfect and tender, the price is worth every penny. The mashed potatoes were good. The small serving of green beans and onions was underwhelming. The top sirloin was really good, cooked a perfect medium rare on a bed of mashed potatoes. The sauce added a perfect flavor. The ribs were pretty good, they were a little tough and didn't fall off the bone but had great flavor and sauce. The kids burgers were perfect portions though the sprinkle of fries for kids was a little disappointing to them because it's French fries, if my 3 year old can clean a plate there's not enough. They did ask for pickles and they were all impressed with them providing pickles. The drinks were mediocre. The mai tai was large, did not pack the typical Mai tai punch I enjoy, I would not order again. The lilikoi margarita has a great flavor. For me personally, my service at the Kaneohe location was very different and was one of the most pleasant dinners I have ever had on the island - after this meal in Haleiwa, I actually returned to the Kaneohe location for my daughter's birthday and was again blown away by their food and service.

Update: I returned two weeks later and still hadn't finished my original review (oops). Update: 3 visits later.. Thankfully, nothing really changed. Food was still fantastic and the service was again, wonderful. Our first visit we had Lily and our second was Bonnie (that's what my receipt said but I didn't confirm). Sorry to my 3rd server for missing the name. The place is set up nice and the sushi bar is across one side. Some booths against the walls and tables in the middle. Our first time here I was excited to order the love roll which was amazing. I asked for soy paper for $2 up charge. In my opinion worth it over seaweed. I prefer it, I still can't eat too much seaweed and I've been on island for two years now. Out of the three Love Rolls we have had only one was a little different, the crunchies they sometimes use on top of cooked dishes was mixed in with the inside tuna -that I was not a fan of but it was still delicious. Maybe it was a fluke. The stuffed avocado is delicious. It's one of my go to orders. Gyoza was good and the sauce was good too The crispy rice was amazing. Loved it! The yakitori was not a hit. Even as a left over for my teenager. If it was chicken breast maybe I'd love it but the ones we had were very fatty and chewy. We finished it off with Green Tea ice cream which is one of my favorites, it wasn't flavored as strong as what I have had in the past but it was good. I only wish they had chocolate syrup! They have the best plum wine. Don't skip it!

But the restaurant was by no means full, at that point, or even half full. We went for a light meal and drinks. Everything was very good. Salmon nigiri, beef tataki, some rolls and tempura. Prices are good. Our server Lily was impeccable. They had some cute Halloween decor and the lighting and general ambiance in there is just right. The only thing that was a little off-putting was as we were getting ready to leave a gentleman who works there came over to our table and encouraged us to hurry up and get out because he said there were other people waiting. We didn't see any people waiting, and we had been there about 90 minutes and were leaving anyway. To me, 90 minutes is a normal amount of time to have dinner in a restaurant. Does anyone else agree? If we had been there two hours, I wouldn't have been surprised by him saying that to us. But I feel like at 90 mins, it was a little pushy. I would go back there though, perhaps with an eye to checking in with the server that we are not overstaying our welcome.

Best believe I would not be late. Food: Shrimp Tempura: 5/5 - I think this is the best shrimp I've had, ever. The tempura was fried to quintessential perfection. Seasoned, light, not greasy and a decent size? My god Experience: 5/5 I'm calling this experience because they do something different here which is you get to grind your sesame with mortar and pestle to create your sauce which I think is a genius interactive element that not only adds to food knowledge but also makes you present. You are partially eating what you create and I like that immersiveness. Part of what also makes it cool is the open kitchen concept. Being seated in the middle of the bar i was able to watch the chefs' process from start to finish which is always such fun to see. Otherwise the service was really good! Ambiance It was what I would call an elevated casual. Not too loud or feeling like you need to be very quiet. I think the price was fair for what I got and all its fixings but its definitely not cheap. With that being said though I do think its extremely worth it if you can get a seat!

Ehhh it was ok…read more Food was ok, everything was ok. Pricing was high, but just about everything in Hawaii is, especially for dinner. We stopped by because the exterior looked fun and the name was cool, like Shabuya Crossing and Shabu too. Reviews looked good also. But we would be disappointed. My arm and wrist area kept hurting during dinner so I looked down at the table to figure out why. Thought it was a poorly-designed table top. But when I compared it to the side my husband was sitting at, I realized my side was missing a strip of wood, which was why the edge was so sharp. I brought it up with our server, since maybe management wasn't aware of the issue. Her immediate response was, "Yeah, our A/C was leaking over there the other day too..." and mentioned a few other issues with the building. So I guess they just figure the place is falling apart and this is just another thing. It doesn't seem like this location has been around that long so I'm not sure if it's the previous business that had issues or if they used cheaper quality construction instead of something more durable. They don't offer any desserts, either paid or complimentary. Other hot pot places we go to will either have free ice cream, popsicles or at least some fruit? Nothing. They don't do anything special for your birthday either. A piece of cake? A scoop of ice cream? A discount? Nope. They'll sing loudly to you though (as we witnessed from another table). Not impressed. Wouldn't return.

The highlight of our Hawaii trip! We loved Ginza Bairin so much that we went TWICE during our trip…read more We visited on our previous trip to Hawaii, and it was an absolute must-revisit this time around. If you're visiting Honolulu and love Japanese tonkatsu, do yourself a favor and put this place on your list! The absolute star of the show is the Specialty Kurobuta Pork Loin Katsu. Out of this world! Kurobuta pork is basically the Waygu of the pork world. This pork comes from the Berkshire pig which produces more flavorful, more tender pork. The pork is perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and coated in a beautifully crispy breading. Every bite is exactly what you want from a great tonkatsu. And PLEASE, don't sleep on the unlimited refills of cabbage, miso soup, and rice! The rice deserves its own shoutout. Ginza Bairin serves premium Tsuyahime white rice from Yamagata, Japan, and it is hands down the best rice I've ever had. The grains are plump, fluffy, and delicious, with that wonderful texture that makes you keep reaching for another bowl. Shamelessly admitting that I ate THREE bowls of rice, and I have absolutely zero regrets. My husband doesn't eat pork or beef, so he ordered the chicken katsu and said it was the best chicken katsu he's ever had. That's a pretty impressive endorsement, especially from someone who eats chicken katsu regularly. Families with little ones, this place is fantastic! They're incredibly kid-friendly, with child-sized cups, forks, spoons, and plates. Even better, the kids' meals come in the cutest little blue or pink car-shaped trays that my son absolutely loved. You can choose chicken katsu or shrimp tempura, served with rice, cabbage salad, macaroni salad, and a kids' juice box. It's thoughtful touches like these that make dining out with a toddler so much more enjoyable. The service was amazing, too. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience even better. A few helpful tips: - Make a reservation ahead of time if you can, but walk-ins are welcome, too. - There are two "restaurants": the main dining room primarily accommodates reservations, while the other side is mainly for walk-ins. Don't worry, the food is impeccable on both sides! - Free validated parking for up to 1.5 hours is available at the Bank of Hawaii Waikiki Business Center underground garage, which is a huge plus in Waikiki. Ginza Bairin checks all the boxes: exceptional food, premium ingredients, generous refills, warm service, and a genuinely family-friendly atmosphere. The fact that we went twice in one trip says everything. This is one of those restaurants that stays on your must-visit list every time you return to Hawaii. Free validated parking is available next door in the parking garage beneath the Bank of Hawaii building. I really like how light and crispy their tonkatsu is here. And the Kurobota katsu just melts in your mouth! If they don't have that available their Bairin Pork Tenderloin Katsu is always excellent too! My girlfriend also likes their Katsu-Dons. Sets come with free refills of rice, miso soup, cabbage, and pickles. Last night they also had several new wagyu additions to the menu that we haven't seen before, along with a wagyu beef nigiri that we had to try and thoroughly enjoyed.
