Had three barstools that my cats had scratched and were not able to be repaired. Found Banning Upholstery on yelp and reviews were great. I brought the barstool cushions in to Banning Upholstery the next week and they were very knowledgeable regarding fabric choices and what would be most durable for my situation. We decided on a black naugahyde. It only took one week for them to complete the reupholstery of the three cushions. The chairs were in a really bad shape after I took them to another upholsterer in the area a couple of years ago, but they are now looking like new chairs. I see all the great reviews here, but I have to say I was disappointed with this company. I need my dining room chairs recovered and inquired that they do furniture as well as auto. The gentleman on the phone said oh yes. He then proceeded to tell me to bring the chair in, and when I said I did not have a vehicle to do that, his next comment was 'Have your husband unscrew the seat and bring that in'. He certainly could have said is there anyway you could bring the seat in instead of assuming that a husband was in the picture. Then I got the standard excuse of the times, we are 3 months behind because of Covid. Covid has become the mantra for poor service everywhere and it is getting tiring. There is very little effort being made to maintain customer service. I gave them one star only because they answered the phone! When I said I would look around for someone else, he seemed to think everyone would give me the same answer. They may be a family business and have been around for a long time, but they really are not the only business in town. Very unhappy with this attitude. read more

I had Banning's recover a 24 year old glider (rocking chair) that I had used with my youngest son. I'm now a grandmother and wanted it to use with my grandson. It was an original Dutalier, solid oak, very well made. I brought in my own fabric and Banning's did a fantastic job. I felt the price quoted was quite fair when I dropped my project off. I felt it was quite a bargain when I picked up the finished chair and saw the extreme quality of the work. My chair looked better than new, and as I was able to provide my own fabric, it matches perfectly in the room in which it was placed. Those Red chairs in the photo have been used hard. Dave sent the frames out for refinishing, then he and Paul replaced all the insides and reupholstered them. Cindy guided me through the whole process. I was nervous about it, but it went very well. The chairs are beautiful and are much more comfortable than they have ever been. Banning's has salvaged them and made them showpieces that I can be proud to leave to the next few generations. This is not the first project I've brought to them. They've always done excellent work without any issues. The cost is fair and all questions are fully answered. Cindy and Dave have guided my choices kindly, helping me avoid some bad ideas. If you are not familiar with Bannings they are family owned. AND they always answer the phone and they are there from open to close. Those little details are important when you are tying to make sure you have the right measurements when ordering fabric. Dave really held my hand through the whole process and showed me all of my options without getting frustrated. I have a hard time making decisions on things like this because I always find myself disappointed in some way or another. So when I took my grandmothers old Buehler chair I wasn't expecting much because of the style of the chair. I wanted real cowhide and real leather but didn't want to pay the prices. Dave said I could find the fabric anywhere and he could make it work. I ordered the cowhide from eBay and I thought I would use a fake leather but Dave found some scrap leather he had from another project that I could buy from him. Ok! I was all set! Then Dave called and asked what type of tacks I wanted to use and I wanted an undone feel so I told him to use the plain old furniture tacks. Then I panicked and called him back and he talked me off the ledge for like 10mins. And I decided on the plain tacks!! It took about 2 weeks and I wasn't expecting much but as soon as I took one look at the beautiful creamy leather and the juxtaposition of the cowhide it was love at first sight. It adds such a great focal point in my guest room and I positioned it so that when I walk down the hall and peek in the guest room I can see it and fall in love all over again. And for a cherry on top when they stripped the chair down they found the original furniture maker tag which it was a G. Buehler, Allentown PA and they saved it for me so I will be keeping it in our family history book because the furniture maker is from Germany which is our family background. I highly recommend Bannings. Don't throw it away - just reupholstered! read more

I reach out on a Friday and my Monday morning I was able to drop off my motorcycle seat. Before the week was over they were done with the reupholstered seat and it looked great. They were very responsive over email and I never had to wait more than a day for a response back. They have a really big shop and capacity for large projects. We were referred to Banning's by a friend who said "I wish I had more things to reupholster" because they are so good. I first brought in a little antique chair to be reupholtered. Then I brought in 2 leather chairs. Then I had the foam cushions replaced in our couch because they were sagging (we used our existing covers). We had an outdoor chair seat done in Sunbrella. Now we are getting 4 dining room chairs done in a beautiful fabric that Cindy, the wife owner, helped me pick out. Cindy and Dave are just the nicest most helpful, honest hardworking people! I like to find solid wood, well built pieces at auctions and estate sales and have them custom upholstered to suite my taste....It is better than brand new! I called ahead and asked if they sold small pieces of foam for a craft project 22"x22", she checked and said they had some leftover pieces in the back. I went down to get the foam and was directed to a display section of cut foam pieces...which were still too big. I asked if they had anything smaller, the reply "nope, but they are only $18. bucks". I turned and walked out went straight to JoAnn's in Morgan Hill and got a perfect piece of foam for $7.50. I was trying to keep my business local, ha I won't ever be going back here!! read more
