I was upset that when I bought my system from Abbey he included 7year warranty on the product parts. However when it stopped working 5 years in he comes and charges me $400 for parts and a labor charge (which the labor I Understand) I show him the receipt with his writing that says 7 year warranty and he says I'm not going to lower the price it's only a 1 year warranty. Needless to say I was very upset, I didn't fight it just explained to him that's not how you should do business. All I can say is don't except them to honor what they say. read more

I got tired of having my old rooftop unit fail every time is started to get Summer Hot or Winter cold (and expensive service calls), so I called Banner Air, who had been servicing my mother's house for 25 years, for an estimate. Abbey (a mechanical engineer) gave me a fair estimate and I contracted them to replace the 30-year-old rooftop package on my house with a high-quality, high-efficiency, two-stage Trane Unit that works wonderfully. I can't believe how nicely it heats the house and how quiet it is! I had gotten so used to the old one roaring all night and waking me up, that at first I didn't think the new one was working! Abbey and crew were quick and did a very thorough job with all the attention to detail I could ask for. I wanted to write this review because it's quite rare to meet a contractor who answers all questions without judgement and understands your needs. I needed a new HVAC system in my home, and I had done some research and decided I wanted a Trane system. I had SEVERAL different people come give me quotes, and the person that I felt the most knowledgeable and respectful was Abbey. Abbey gave me a great price, finding the perfect sized system to replace my old unit (which was quite a small space in a closet). All the workers who installed the system were extremely efficient, making sure to not cut corners during installation. On our initial conversation he was so helpful and courteous. He was already problem solving with me what it could be and hoped for the best. Woke up and heard loud buzzing coming from our gas furnace in the attic. Our NEST thermostat readout said that power to the thermostat was out. We called Banner Heat & Air. Abbey, the business owner, came with his crew within minutes as their home office is nearby. Abbey's excellent assistants Roni and Ramon replaced the condensation pump (source of the noise), overflow tube which was crimped on the roof, and tested and thoroughly cleaned all furnace elements. I could not be more dissappointed in this company's customer service. First the person answering the phone kept hanging up on me after asking me to hold. Once I finally got through, I gave them my information and was told that they would come by the following afternoon. I made arrangements to come home early from work and waited in vain for them to show up. I saw that others have given this company really high marks and reviews, but my experience was not good. Abbey & Co are the best! He took care of a bad condenser circuit on an AC unit he installed for a previous owner of the house years ago. Someone else must have come in to swap out the thermostat and and introduced a short in the line, which burnt out our transformer. But Abbey is an A+ troubleshooter, and his experience can't be beat. His team worked so fast I could barely meet them, and *everyone* was pleasant and professional. I felt bad calling him on the weekend at times (especially when I broke something he had just installed myself,) but he came out ASAP as he said, "we want to keep our customers happy." Seldom do you run across wise, friendly, skilled people in any walk of life. Abbey at Bannen is truly one of those. He calmly examined our 25 year old furnace, understood what the issue was, went out of his way to secure the necessary part (the controller board) the following morning from a parts dealer in the opposite corner of the valley to make sure no extra damage was caused to our aging system and installed the part that morning as well. He had a genuine concern for us to avoid a catastrophic furnace failure resulting in many thousands of dollars which we couldn't have afforded. His assistant he brought was very friendly and the entire experience began with introductions and firm handshakes and finished with handshakes. I truly trusted Abbey. Last summer, my 15 year old HVAC unit developed problems and I basically spent August thru October with no A/C, when it was 90+ every day. Determined not to repeat that situation this summer, I called Banner Air while pricing out HVAC heat/air packages for my condo. My dad had mentioned that a lot of people in the Midwest (where he lives) have Trane units, and I looked on the web and saw that Banner was an authorized Trane dealer/installer in the Valley. Abbey (Banner's owner) came out and looked over my situation, and gave me an estimate. The estimate was a bit higher than the others I received, but after some research, I went with Trane as their units are regarded as quality units, and I also figured that the incremental cost of the unit, over the years I expected it to last, made sense in terms of bang for my buck. I got a 3 ton, SEER 14 2-stage heat-and-air package unit. Abbey arranged the install for about 10 days later, and he personally supervised the install, which was done by his 2 man crew (who have been with him a while). They did the install over 2 days: first day, they had to remove the old unit with a crane from my roof, put the new one in (they used a guy with a crane who did a quick job - I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and smoothly he took the old one off and put the new one up). Then, the crew handled positioning the unit, extending the a/c platform, gas connections, etc. They had to get a new plenum (the part of the a/c unit that comes off the main unit, that gets the air into my duct work) fabricated, so that took a day to get it made; then they came back and hooked all that up, sealed off the outer ductwork, and Abbey adjusted my thermostat connections inside the house to control the new unit. It tested out fine, and my place is back in business with A/C (not a moment too soon). Simple as that. Abbey and his team did a great job, and despite costing a little bit more than others, I think I made the right decision, because when you buy an HVAC unit, the quality of the installation is as important as the equipment itself. Abbey is a mechanical engineer and he and his crew have been doing this a long time, so I'm confident I'm set and got my money's worth, and will be enjoying my HVAC unit for years (I have a tune up deal too, for maintenance on the unit - you should get that too, given that this is basically an investment in your house). read more
