Banh Pate So / Pate Chaud and Cha Gio / Egg Rolls

Ordered take out. I saw I reviews this place a while ago but it may have been for another Banh mi place as this one is definitely my first time. The place is clean and vibrant and very different. We got the buy 2 get one free. Glad they offer this deal! We asked for chilies on the side so no surprise attack. Service was quick but the pastries seem to have been sitting out for a while because it was quite dry. I didn't really enjoy them... My favorite is still the combination with head cheese. The other two were okay and had good amount of pate which I appreciate with the dryness of the bread and crust. The bread was crunchy but also crumbly, some of the sandwiches had great amount of pickled veggies while the other didn't. Although inconsistent we enjoyed the meal!

I have been curious about Banh Mi Saigon 168 located at The Square Shopping Center in Rosemead. I come to the square all the time, but never once checked out this banh mi place until last weekend. My Mom and I walked inside. The first thing that caught my attention was the smell. It was a really not so great pickled smell. I saw one of the employees packaging pickled veggies. They probably should be doing that inside and not near the front counter. Anyway, I got used to the smell and it finally went away. Open space. Plain ambiance. Only a couple tables with a few chairs. Staff was okay. They sell sandwiches, baguettes, drinks, and other snacks. There is a refrigerated section with various drinks and cold items. I had already eaten. I only wanted to get a drink. I saw the basil seed drink. I wanted to try it so I got it. Basil seeds and jello were fine, but the liquid had a funny taste to it. I couldn't pinpoint it. Bottom line, I didn't care for it at all. I gave the rest to my Mom. I won't be getting it again. I'm not sure if I'll be coming back either. Feel free to try them and you be the judge. Thank you!

Came here after work around 8 pm, of course it's typical to assume the bread wouldn't be as crispy and fresh. But it's actually not bad. They have a "Buy 2, get 1 free" deal for round breads. We got our banh mi sandwich togo. Price was pretty good if you get the deal. They have the option to keep the veggies separated in case you don't plan on eating anything yet to prevent any soggy bread. When we got home, we toasted our bread and honestly, it tasted pretty good toasted again. After toasting it, it was the perfect crispy layer outside and super soft inside. The meat wasn't old. It was a solid banh mi and I enjoyed it. If more customers came, I think they would be able to cycle out their food faster. I wouldn't mind coming back for a quick take out.

In the area and had a craving for some banh mi. I was pretty happy they had a deal but 2 get 1. Then I saw the egg rolls and the round bread in the warmer. I got the #1, # 2 and #4 Even if I'm by myself I always get the but 2 get 1 deal at banh mi. The baguette Sandwiches were really good but the egg roll and round bread were sitting a bit too long. Egg rolls were a bit soggy and the round bread kinda stale. The coffee was pretty good. Next time I think I'll stick to the sandwich and coffee only.

I got their promotional, buy two and the 3rd is Free. I got # 1, # 2 and #6. Still a good value, although the price has gone up. Some other places don't offer this. Same great taste. No customer restrooms. Parking: Shared lot can be busy. Rating: 4 Stars

My friend lives in Rosemead and once in a while, she gets me two Bahn mi specials from that place: Probably some of the best sandwiches I've ever tried from a Vietnamese place The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; they have plenty of meat and I like the pate The pickle carrots are very crispy and the cilantro super fresh I recommend that place

This place is getting higher on my banh mi venues. While parking can suck at this shipping center, when you first in, you are hit with the smell of fresh bake bread which is one of the best smells around. Been getting the duc biet banh mi (#14 Saigon special) which has not disappointed. They also sell this HUGE French loaf that's the size of Shaq's shoe for $2.50. Check out my pics!

I usually come here to get bread n egg rolls. The quality of the egg rolls gets bad. I get some egg rolls today but they use the old oils to fry the egg rolls. The egg rolls inside is really dry like an old egg rolls and smell of the old oil very badly. I hv to throw all of them away. I don't come back this place anymore. Waste of my money

I ordered #14, baguette dac biet and it is usually my go to. I ordered this for the bread and it is full of meat protein and veggies were on the side. I am happy to say the bread is soft and the size of the sandwich is worth the price. I have to say that the pickled daikon and carrots were very sad as they were lacking in flavor and not enough sour nor sweet added to this banh mi. I also requested extra mayo with $1 up charge, without seeing any extra; also requested extra soy sauce and it is obvious it did not occur as well. **new edit** A second sandwich was ordered, baguette with cha lua. When asked if there is pate spread in it the person said yes, I said no pate, only cha lua. They said ok yes, and managed to still have pate in sandwich. I will also add when I went it was later in the evening, there were no other customers and no line. Orders should have been made accurately.

I got the buy two get one free special as my family and I always do. Sandwiches used to be larger than my hand, now in comparison they make my hands look large. Was really looking forward to the banh mi I got but now I'll have to go find a new banh mi shop. Pretty disappointed in the change.

Number (#17) Nem Bo Nuong / Grilled Beef

I love a good banh mi, and this place did not disappoint. We ordered the number 17 grilled beef baguette and it was DELICIOUS. The cucumber was fresh, crispy and had tons of flavor. The beef was warm and cooked well. Very delicious. They asked if I wanted everything on it, but there were no jalapeños. Not sure if this is common but every other banh mi places I've had they put them. We also got eggs rolls and they were also very delicious. The pate chaud was flakey and the meat inside was warm and had a great flavor. Great place!

A plastic piece in my food? Shitty customer service and now this?

The Banh Mi are excellent. I have not been here since Covid and remote work in 2020. Nothing's changed. The Banh Minis still excellent.

Buy 2 get 1 free. First time here. Large portions. The sandwich tasted fresh and meat and vegetables were very generous.

The cheapest and simplest one is the Portuguese egg tart and the more fancy ones are either $1.75 or $2. I tried all of them: Portuguese egg tart, cheese tart, caramel croissant tart, tiramisu tart, berry tart, and coconut tart (my favorite). We also got the salted egg yolk croissant for only $1 which is a steal although I wish it was a tad bit sweeter to balance out the salt. It was a smooth process to go in and buy. They also have a variety of specialty desserts that are in the $8 price range if you want something more extravagant. I tried the King Panda which was filled with cream cheese mousse. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but more of the latter. We went on a Saturday and it was pretty packed but we managed to snag a seat.

They are decent as well. It is the main lure. The cute cakes are "Asian cute", like you would know this is from a Chinese bakery kind of vibe. IMO they are overprice / maybe overrated and I think they only appeal to people who like these kind of cute stuff or maybe kids. otherwise I would pass on these overpriced themed cakes. The service is decent. The store seems clean. On the weekends, there probably would be lines but on weekdays they are less busy. I personally would not choose to wait in long lines for this. There is nothing extraordinary really. I'll come back for the egg tarts if I am in the area and perhaps try their coffee next time. Just as a side note, as of now, this bakery is located next to an abandoned burger joint Which hasn't operated or maintained for years. The portion of the shared parking lot has overgrown vegetation, and sometimes you would see "questionable " characters hanging around the establishment. this Is beyond the bakery's control. Good luck people :)

Price ranged from $2.75-$3.75 per bread. Small and cozy interior. Very warm for some reason but we didn't mind since it's winter. It was pretty quiet. I think folks tend to go to bakeries earlier in the day for more selection and fresher bread. They have a good mix of classic and interesting new breads like rose bread (not depicted), but a lot of them were sold out. We ate the bread the next day and it still tasted very fresh. My favorite was the matcha bread with yogurt filling. The taro bun had real bits of taro in the center. Wish there was a little more though. All the breads were good in flavor, not too salty and or sweet. They also have some deals when you buy a certain amount of certain items. Shared parking lot since it's situated in a plaza.
