We had the most knowledgeable, friendly, comical man wait on us that it made our visit really fun! His name is Joseph and I tried to leave a review by doing the QR code thing but my technological prowess is rather needy. So..I am hoping Joseph will see this review and also his superiors see it. They even have a well furnished with many activities to keep kids busy. Many different frames and available for fitting and style selection. They even were able to get multipurpose safety glasses that they do not normally carry. Much better experience then the chains.

It had the only eye doctor that did not give me a disrespectful hard time about refusing eye dilation. Dr. Vachon's exam and diagnosis, even with my cataract, was spot-on and I can now see things I've not seen in years. Eye dilations are for medical diagnosis only and not needed just to get an updated vision prescription. In fact, the only poor eye exam prescription outcomes I've had in my entire life - 4 of them in 2 states - were the result of eye dilations and the exams had to be redone every time, even when an ophthalmologist did them - at an average additional cost of $60! Penobscot's optician, Rebecca, also did an excellent job with their selection of frames and with fitting and finish work and my new glasses were ready in half the estimated time. I would highly recommend Penobscot Eye Care to anyone.

I needed to get a new pair of glasses for my hospitalized grandfather and his prescription was complex. Lise drove over an hour to the hospital where my grandfather was, to find the perfect glasses and fit for him. When the glasses came in (within a week), she drove back down to deliver them and make sure that the fit was good. She also gave us a fantastic price on the glasses. I was about to purchase my third pair in as many years a few days ago, then found out that they were having a two for one special, including progressives. Hallelujah! I paid $470 for two pairs of glasses with both scratch resistant and blue light coatings! The best part of my visit was being helped by Erica, the optician. Not only was she sweet and patient, with her expertise and great taste she helped me choose two beautiful frames (which was difficult because they have a wide selection.) Now in my time of need I'm given the company line. With everything currently happening pandemic-wise, I feel it is unsafe and irresponsible of me to go in for an eye appointment just to get an updated contact prescription. When asked if there were any resources or help during this time, I was once again reminded of the "company line". There's many businesses that are meeting their clients needs during this unprecedented time and it's beautiful. Unfortunately, this isn't one of those businesses.
