Extremely fast service and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Food was a solid 4 star I would say

Came here for the first time and it was SO good. The atmosphere and decor is so cute and feels very authentic. The staff is pretty friendly but we did feel rushed at the end of our meal even though they weren't closing up yet and there were a couple other couples inside. The shrimp suits were SO good and the yellow curry had a great flavor as well and two whole chicken breasts. It was a lot of meat. I just wish they had more sauce so it doesn't get dry. You also have to purchase extra rice because even though both of our entrees came with rice, they "combined" it but did so by only giving us one small plate of rice. We would come back for sure when in the area.

Amazing Thai food for the area. Loved the traditional ambiance and service was amazing! We overheard our server say she was 70 to the other table, it hurt my heart a little that she was still working. We ordered the pad Thai and spicy basil fried rice - both excellent! Will definitely return the next time we're in the area

From the moment you step out the car, you feel transported as you walk through their gardens through their front door where the ambiance is as good as the food. Nestled in one of the booths, we started with the larb, followed by a solid pad thai, and my favorite of the evening, a delicious salmon pineapple curry special. Normally I never have room for dessert, but this time I made sure to save room so I can try their bread pudding. Such a hidden gem in Aptos.

Amazing food and service! The decor of the restaurant with the music and running water made for a pleasant dining experience. We ordered fried shrimp appetizer (#4), egg rolls (#2), pork fried rice, chicken pad Thai, and duck curry. I think my favorite was the pork fried rice. Such amazing flavors!!! The curry tasted great as well and the Pad Thai was exactly the flavors I was expecting. The service was so warm and inviting! Very friendly staff that checked on us a few times to make sure every thing was good. The food came out very fast as well, despite them being very busy with tables, a to-go order, and a rude customer that was complaining things were taking too long. They apologized to him multiple times, but he was just one of those people that like to complain. We had zero issues. And I never give 5 stars, but they deserve it for sure. If you want GREAT Thai food, fast service, and a very friendly and warm staff, look no further. Bangkok West is the place!

This is a must pit stop every time I'm in the area, I've been eating here since 2000. Some plates have changed to accommodate the local pallet, i prefer the old fashion menu that was more aromatic, apparently people complain about cilantro and other herbs in the spring rolls so they make them pretty bland and basic, this was a 2 out of 10 for me, I only ate one piece. I asked why they didn't have all the yummy veggies anymore, and I was told that too many people complained about them lol. So next time I was advised to request my rolls fully loaded. I ordered the green pan nang curry lunch special, my son ordered the curry rice with veggies and tofu and his girlfriend got the sweet n sour tofu with veggies combo. Everything was excellent! They absolutely loved this little GEM, they were so happy I brought them to my favorite spot from my Cabrillo College days.

    Seafood soup with coconut

My wife and I tried Bangkok West for the first time, and it was great! We ordered the seafood soup with coconut and the chicken salad, and both were very good. It's not the best restaurant we've eaten at, but it's definitely good for the price. There was plenty of parking, and the staff was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed dining here on a recent Saturday evening. The location makes it feel like a hidden gem that can accommodate both large parties and intimate dates. We were greeted by a warm and inviting host who continued to serve us throughout the meal. She was very attentive and sweet! We didn't wait long for food after our order was in, which was perfect because we were hungry. Delicious and solid Thai food! The spicy eggplant and tofu was not spicy as noted on the menu but it was, as everything else, still tasty. We were surrounded by locals, judging by staff's familiarity with other diners coming in after us. We'd later get side eye from another couple who we guessed are regulars that were not happy to find "their" booth occupied and had to settle for another table closer to the door. If Bangkok West was in my neighborhood, I would be a regular diner too!

    Bangkok West Combo appetizer

Ordered for pickup last night for dinner: * Bangkok West Combo - chicken satay (4), veggie egg rolls (2), fried shrimp (4) and veggie wantons (4). Good sized appetizer selection. Chicken satay was a decent portion, tasty and tender. Shrimp, veggie rolls and wantons were also decent. * Salmon Green Curry Special - Salmon and veggies in a green curry sauce, with side of jasmine rice and salad. Was extremely disappointing. Salmon was dry and slightly fishy. Likely (over) cooked from frozen. Very little green curry sauce, and what was included was watered down and lacked any authentic Thai Green Curry taste. Possibly the worst I've ever had. Not recommended. (Could have done better at home with a good Thai Curry Paste and some fresh salmon from the local store.) Sorry, I don't think we'll be coming back.

Instead of handling the situation with understanding, she seemed visibly upset and made several comments, including telling me to "control your kid." That was honestly upsetting and unnecessary. Anyone who has a toddler knows that it's not that simple, and parents are already doing their best to manage situations like this. Good food can easily be overshadowed by poor customer service. Sure there are good Thai restaurants in Santa Cruz but they are what you would expect at any decent Thai eatery...But Thai Basil Is So Much Better than those other Thai restaurants! Rather small and unassuming, Thai Basil takes the normal Thai dishes and bumps them up several notches, serving you cuisine that is different from what you've gotten used to, from other Thai places! All of their dishes are unique, as they are so delicious and fresh, tasting like you're eating at a Thai home, rather than a restaurant! And in a way, you are. Thai Basil is a Family Run business that serves family recipes, as opposed to traditional restaurant dishes. Each dish looks and tastes different from what you might expect. The sauces explode with flavors of fresh herbs, spices and freshness that only comes from a family's favorite home recipes, cooked and prepared traditionally! Thai Basil is so definitely a "family affair"! Mom & Dad prepare the meals, (from their own recipes) while their daughter and son wait on tables. The more I went to this cafe, it became obvious that this was becoming a Capitola favorite too! You will see many locals eating here, store owners, city workers and law enforcement officers, filling up on the amazing Thai family food!
