However, after I posted it(they apparently monitor their reviews) Martin called. Essentially they said you're pissed and understandably . Let us make it right. Helped me get the roof reinspected as well as gutter and siding. As near as I can tell it was quality work (I'm in no position to inspect a roof). The roof got replaced in a decent time frame. The other work took some time and calls from me to find out what the hold up was. Overall it was a good experience with the noted caveats.

After an interior updating in 2017 we were due for an exterior makeover on our home that's 26 years old. Further, when the old siding was removed we found one third of the house didn't have foam insulation and a vapor barrier in back of the siding. Half the siding crew stopped, got the needed materials, and did the job right. Wow! The icing on the cake? On November 10 we had a bad storm come through and we were concerned about hail/storm damage. I contacted Eldridge right away and Chris, our contact person at Eldridge, came out right away and went over the entire house and the house was fine with just a couple of minor dents in the gutters on the west side of the house. First class general contracting, Rockton IL. I personally do…read morenot recommend using this company. The reason being. I had a complete roof done in June of 2022. No problems until we got enough snow to actually sit on the roof for an extended period of time, which happened to be in January of 2024. My son tells me on January 13th there's water dripping from his ceiling. So I look, sure enough. Got water seepage in the ceiling of his room and in his closet. Contacted First class, agreed to have someone come when weather was permitting and the snow was off the roof. They came out on Jan 29th. Went up on my roof with a caulk gun, caulked some flashing near the chimney and blamed the leak on my chimney which does need tuckpointing. (the cement patched around the bricks) But in the time from Jan 13th to the 29th while the snow was melting from my roof, the water continued to seep in to my son's room and closet. The rep that came out said he would discuss my problem with his superiors and get back to me. I gave it a week nothing. Then texted him three days in a row. No response. Called on the fourth day got sent to voice-mail. Hours later I receive a text, what can I help you with. I asked about the damage to the inside of my house. Of course they blamed the chimney and said they are not responsible. Now if the chimney was the problem. I would have had a leak a lot sooner then 18 months after the roof installation from rain, wind and snow. In that 18 month period we had rain, wind and snow. No problems until the snow actually sat on the roof for an extended period of time. Hopefully I have no more problems with the work they provided. I will fix my ceilings and have the chimney tuckpointed. But I will also be watching for anymore problems. This was my experience. Take it as you will. But I will never use or recommend First Class General Contracting, Rockton IL. to anyone. Sorry for the long read.

When Andrew, a Project Manager with Scandia, stopped by my house to let me know hail damage had…read moreoccurred in my neighborhood, I was skeptical. He informed me his company was replacing the roof on a couple of homes in my area due to a storm. I allowed Andrew access to my roof; he did a thorough job providing me with photographic documentation of hail damage, and helped walk me through the process of making a claim to my insurance company. When the Insurance Adjuster came to my home to see if insurance would pay for the damage, Andrew came along, too. He stayed with the Adjuster, pointing out all the areas with damage, until all the Adjuster's questions were satisfied. This may sound like no big deal, but it took the Adjuster a VERY long time, and Andrew remained professional and patient throughout the process. The Insurance Adjuster approved my house for a brand new roof. Andrew's team did an excellent job of tearing off and replacing my roof. They were courteous, hard-working, on-time, and did a excellent job cleaning up any mess they made. We had additional damage to our decking; Andrew and his team at Scandia worked hard with my insurance company to get that paid for as well. During the insurance approval process and contract signing, Andrew keep in touch regularly. He has excellent communication skills; he's definitely an all-around nice guy! My experience with Scandia Construction was great. I highly recommend them!
