Complaint Against: Cheslock Optical Date of Purchase: August…read more25, 2025 Date Order Received: October 8, 2025 Description of Complaint: I ordered prescription glasses from Cheslock Optical on August 25, 2025. At the time of purchase, I was told they would be ready in approximately 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. However, I did not receive them until October 8, 2025 -- a delay of more than six weeks. During that time, I called the office multiple times for updates. Most of the time, I had to leave a message and never received a return call. On the few occasions I did reach someone, the office manager, Rhea, would take over the call. Her behavior was extremely unprofessional -- she was rude, raised her voice at me for calling, and hung up on me several times. Rhea informed me that my glasses were shipped to Cheslock on October 2, 2025. The vendor later confirmed they were received by Cheslock on October 3, yet I was not contacted until October 8 to pick them up. When I arrived at the office, Rhea simply handed me the glasses and said, "There you go!" She did not offer to open the case, verify the order, or ensure that the glasses fit properly -- basic steps I would expect from any optical provider. Due to the repeated unprofessional conduct, lack of communication, and unacceptable customer service, I have filed a formal grievance with my medical insurance provider. I believe Cheslock Optical should be reviewed for continued participation in any insurance network, as this level of service does not meet acceptable standards of care. Had I researched the business beforehand, I would have seen that numerous similar complaints have been posted on Google, the BBB, Yelp, and Facebook. Desired Resolution: I am requesting a formal apology and assurance that this pattern of unprofessional behavior will be addressed. I also recommend that the BBB review this company's business practices and communication standards.

One due to COVID the other I could not reach anyone for days leading to the scheduled appointment. I am quite meticulous in taking notes and we pay a pretty penny for Joe to have the advantage plan that covers optical I feel her conduct could have been more professional and compassionate. I could tell she was passing judgment on my husband's thin build and gaunt appearance. We get that often. My husband is chronically ill and can't put weight on. Additionally our dog passed just days before leaving us both pretty tattered looking. Nevertheless I feel like Rita's conduct could have been more productive and compassionatem. I'm shocked that she would hold a missed appointment from 5 years ago against my husband. She made a point to inform us that the doctor don't get paid when we no show. It's money out of his pocket and snarled. I might add that you can't ever reach this establishment and have to go in to talk to anyone. On a positive note the ace was clean and well stocked with merchandise. The atmosphere soothing until Rita made her appearance.

A house renovated into an eye center. Parking is limited…read more Inside was bright and clean. Friendly service. Just make sure you quadruple check your insurance provider before you go here. I checked about my insurance with them over the phone when making an appointment. I gave them my insurance card number and they told me I was covered. Made the appointment and figured no problems. Wrong. When it was finally time to get the eye exam done, the secretary took my insurance card again while I filled out papers. She gave my card back and told me all looked good. I sat in the waiting room for about 10 minutes. The whole thing lasted for about 1 hour. Waiting included. After the exam... I was told I could start checking out glasses to buy. I asked the receptionist how much my insurance was going to cover for the glasses. She made a call to my insurance provider and realized her office wasn't covered under my insurance after all. She then listed a couple of "in" plan offices that I could go to get some glasses. Seriously? I don't know how many times I asked the receptionist if this office was covered by my insurance and she always said...YES...and now....she says NO...after I saw the optometrist. I then asked her about the exam. Since this office visit was NOT covered by my insurance now, how much do I have to pay? She apologized saying she didn't get a chance to authorize the card and didn't realize that my insurance wouldn't pay. I would have to pay up to $199.00 for the exam. She told me she would try to get a discount for me since she made the mistake. Like...What?! You made a mistake and now I have to pay for your mistake?! How fair is that? Fun...fun...NOPE.

When I arrive the person behind the desk informed me they were over booked and that my appointment was for 9:15 but I showed up at 9:30. Ok, I did think it was a 9:30 Appointment time.. But when I arrived there was 2 cars in the parking lot and one person in the waiting room . The Front desk staff told me since I was late and they were over booked I would have to come anther day.! WT???? This is Odd I woudl expect then that the Eye Doctor woudl have been in the Exam room waiting for me, Doing nothing. And that we woudl just cut short part of the Eye exam that was not really needed.. After all I simply needed to update my Script. Truth is they over booked and never had time or room for me!. WOW.. Really. How did she even know what services i needed ? how could she even know what i wanted while i was there. After waiting for 6 months to see an Eye doctor to be just turned away like this is not acceptable I have been wearing Glasses for over 45 years. I have never had an eye doctor tell me they were over booked so I was turned away. In my industry if you sell more than one seat at the same time its breaking a law!. I cannot recommend Rush Eye Center to anyone as they do not value your time or there Customers!. Stay away.
