Within 20 minutes, Dr. G called me to apologized to let me know she never received the messages and truly felt bad. She was able to squeeze me in today knowing I was going to spend a day in Sacramento but came back from up there to meet with her. Hang is awesome too Excellent customer service She apologized for the confusion and help me with the Invisalign app and any issues or concerns to send her a message via the portal. Thank you Carmen for caring and apologizing for the 3 weeks for someone to get back to me. Also thanks Dr. G who felt bad and took ownership of the situation. Every direct call is met with an answering machine featuring AI and even when detail messages are left, calls are not returned. Updated review after being a patient for years I have been a patient for over seven years, but my recent experiences have led me to the decision that my family and I will no longer seek services here. In January 2026, Dr. Jeel Kesaria (Dr. K) informed me I needed two fillings and a crown. However, at my appointment in February for the follow up procedure, I was told for the first time that a root canal might be necessary. This should have been communicated in January. During the procedure, Dr. K injected anesthesia into a nerve in my jaw, which was the most painful experience I have ever had at a dentist. I pushed through the pain and my fear. After lengthy drilling, it was determined I did need a root canal; I was later informed that Dr. K should never have attempted the filling due to the nerve's proximity. Furthermore, Dr. K prescribed antibiotics without informing me or checking for associated allergies. At this point over $900 paid to Bancroft dental, and now additional costs for endo procedure. No refund not even a partial refund from Bancroft Dental. Following the procedure, I experienced significant pain and was unable to eat on the right side of my mouth. When my temporary crown fell out, I reported my ongoing pain to the front office supervisor, Carmen B. Lopez. Despite her assurances, she failed to follow up with me, necessitating multiple inquiries on my part. Staff that answered the phone also never followed up. My filling was ultimately botched, requiring the tooth to be reshaped twice and the other tooth required a two-step root canal due to inflamed nerves and excessive bleeding. Bancroft dental was paid in full for services that were poorly performed, required me to pay additional costs and resulted in multiple trips related to follow up appointments. While I appreciate the work of Dr. Angel and Angie, who both stepped in to correct the errors made by their colleagues, the overall quality of patient care has declined significantly. It appears that profit is being prioritized over patient well-being, exacerbated by incompetent front office staff--specifically Carmen and Marco. I finally received my permanent crown on April 10th, ending a long and distressing journey. Please be advised that I have filed active complaints with both the Dental Board and the Better Business Bureau. I will never return to this provider again. They cannot be trusted. While mistakes can occur, it is important that things are remedied in a manner that ensures client care and service is top priority. Mike Chang has lost control on quality care, and I'm concerned that others will be harmed physically and mentally by the poor care they receive at Bancroft Dentalcare. This was my first time at this dental office and I had a cleaning scheduled ydy at 5pm with the hygienist Geena. I came early like 15 minutes and luckily they were able to seat me super quickly. The assistant Adrianna was super nice and friendly too! I liked how the office was decorated for Christmas. It's not very modern but very cozy which I prefer I suppose. My teeth felt super clean after and Geena was super gentle it didn't hurt at all. Dr Alex did my exam and he was great! I think they make a good team. He said I had no cavities, thank goodness, and told me I had some dense bone in my lower left which I already knew about because my old dentist told me so it's good to know Dr Alex knows his stuff. Worst dentist ever. Do not go here!! This might as well be an oil change location because they are just trying to extort money from you. Allow me to tell you about my trials and tribulations. Went in for a tooth ache and got a routine cleaning and examination. Everything was normal until they brought me into the consultation room. They tried to pressure me into several different procedures that I wasn't sure if I really actually needed. They also just ran an estimate without even talking to my dental provider. There were several codes they gave me on the estimate and said I could talk to my provider about coverage, BUT I needed to pay half of this estimate now. Whatever, I paid half because the dental work needed to get done. A couple days later I talked to my dental insurance and gave them the associated cost codes which several they said they do cover 85%. This totaled nearly $800 that they would cover. I immediately called Bancroft Dental Care and they tried to tell me that "yeah, but sometimes they don't pay." I was like literally they told they cover these cost fixes at 85% and I'm not going to pay them that amount. They again told me that they couldn't do that and I had to pay everything and I could wait for a reimbursement. I was like, "You're high, that's not going to work. In what world do we live in where you intentionally overpay to wait for a reimbursement? I immediately then asked to cancel my service and please submit my refund for what I already paid. They then told me it was going to be about 30 days before I got my refund. "What?" We will see when my refund actually comes and I will update. I did talk to Santiago, who was terrible, and Carmen who did help out a little bit still was not willing to help me out or understand what they were asking me to do was absurd. Sent multiple emails with no response on whether they had processed the refund or not. 10/16/24 - Today, Jessie (5) took my x-rays and made sure all my intake health Q&A were logged in and current, then Dr. Min (5) looked at Jessie's fine x-ray work and said my #9 abscess root canal bone might take two years to grow in, then she wiggled the teeth at the canal and found they were tight. Next she took photos of the exposed molar pulp where I have ground off all my enamel for 50 years and I am scheduled for a crown appointment this Sunday. Then Anika (5) hydro-jetted all my plaque off, and scraped and polished, then she gave me the fluoride varnish. Jessie (5) finished up with a full panel x-ray, and Carmen (5) took me into the Finance closet so I could pay my share of the crown this Sunday. I'll be back in 6 months for my next cleaning! I had an emergency toothache appointment at 8 AM today I was told I needed a root canal and I had an option to have a bridge put in or an implant. They told me my insurance paid 80% and the 20% that I would owe will be $800. I thought that was a bit much so I wanted a second opinion about everything the price and the procedure so I asked for my x-rays to be via email to me and the lady at the front desk said oh I will do that by 11 AM. I said OK. I really need them because I need to go to another dentist for a second opinion I called back at 2 o'clock and I got an AI assistant saying that someone will call me back 3 o'clock came. Nobody called me back so I called them back. I got the AI assistant again and she said that she was sorry nobody gotten back to me so I left another message instead of sending my x-rays they sent me an estimate of what would be owed if I would go through with the procedure . Well, the day was over and they still never sent me a copy of my x-rays so I can take to the other dentist so I actually went back up there and the girl did it right away I thought that was so unprofessional. I will never go back there again. The dental hygienist were nice. Dr. Kay is very short with you. she is not cordial with any type of hospitality. I will never go back there again. This review is strictly about the office staff & front desk specifically Candy & Chester. I was a patient for over 10 years and have referred plenty of people before switching due the front desk staff. Front office staff is inconsiderate & absolutely terrible. I made an appointment 3 weeks ahead of time for a consultation for braces. They called me 30 minutes before the appointment & demanded to reschedule due to not having X-rays and told me it was my responsibility to provide them the X-rays from my dental office. Why would I be responsible for obtaining the X-rays, would this not the office staffs responsibility or would they not take X-rays themselves if it's a "consultation." To top it off, they advised me that they don't provide braces, so why would the receptionist allow me to make an appointment & why are you calling me 30 minutes before my appointment to tell me. I would love to know what exactly the office manager is managing beside her piss poor attitude. I asked to be transferred to someone else & she left me on hold. It's no wonder why they have such a high office staff turnover rate, they lack empathy, professionalism and basic common sense. Since Maryanne & Connie left this place has went to hell. read more

Incredibly disorganized, do not listen to your feedback, and constantly attempt to confirm appointments via phone calls that are at their own convenience instead of yours. All it takes is one text to confirm. I asked for them to remove me from phone confirmations because they almost always call me in the middle of my day during meetings and not only have they ignored that request, but they also continue to call or text even AFTER I have confirmed. This team obviously does not communicate well or take notes in their patient management system. Massive shame because the dental care is acceptable. I will try to make this brief. I have a tooth that was previously worked on back home. It started bugging me. I am from out of town with no dental insurance. I called these guys and asked if they take payments, and they said yes. I get in and they don't take payments, they have you sign up for a credit card. Back home dentist take payments, so I was a bit annoyed by the lie. Along with that they wanted to sell me their in house plan, which I signed up for since I will be out this way for a bit as I am helping my dad who is now recovering from stage 4 cancer. I figured the office looked nice, they should be a decent dentist. Boy was I wrong. The first dentist that took a look at my xray said there is no infection and tried to convince me I was getting sick. Then another dentist came in to try and recover, however saying the same thing. He then tried to tell me it was a tooth behind it that was the issue. Which being I am not a dentist but know pain can shoot out, figured he saw something I didn't. He then suddenly saw minor infection in the tooth, he was amazed he missed it the first time. So I scheduled an appointment for extraction. The extraction dr pushed on the tooth a few times and it hurt like hell, even after using all the novacaine allowed for the visit. I got up and said I gotta go find another dentist. I did, they ran a CT scan on the area and found there was a huge infection under the tooth I first pointed out. My mouth was now hurting worse then when I went in. I called the original office and asked for something for the pain. It was a 10 minute fight to get 4 pills for the pain they put me in, my face swelled up after they touched it. Upon trying to get my money returned for the services not completed, as well as the monthly in house plan they want to lock you in to, I was met with a lot of resistance. I have had to call back 3 times now to try and get a receipt to show they're returning the money. And then they won't verify how much they are returning. Along with that they tried to tell me they wouldn't return my money for 30 days. This is after I told them I am low on cash and need that money to get this tooth dealt with. After fighting with them for over 30 mins they said they will cut me a check next week for the difference of the original visit, but still wouldn't verify the amount, nor send me anything saying they would return it. Along with this they offered to return the money to my card if I paid for the service separately. So I have to wait and trust that this company which didn't give me the service I paid for is going to return my money. Plus I am now further inconvenienced by them and will now have to drive back to their office to pick up a check, which based on what they've done this far will be for the incorrect amount. This office clearly feeds on people without insurance and has predatory practices when they won't get put in check by the insurance offices. They quoted me more then an oral surgeons office prior to signing up with their plan. The cost of the procedure after signing up with their plan is what I was told it would run from the oral surgeon. So they are ripping people off. I would suggest going to another dentist. They caused me more pain and possibly caused the infection to spread by not knowing what they were doing. If you have read this and are going through the same thing, my plan is to file with the dental board and I suggest you do the same. read more

I am very disappointed with my recent visits to the practice. About a week and a half ago, I scheduled a 9:30 AM appointment to have a chip fixed. During that visit, I felt that the staff unnecessarily performed X-rays, which seemed excessive given the small size of the issue. I had already received an X-ray during my previous visit, and it felt like they were trying to charge me again for the same service. Additionally, I was informed that I couldn't be seen until 11:00 AM to have the chip repaired, which felt unprofessional and wasted my time. Fast forwarding to my next visit to fix the chip, I had specifically requested not to be scheduled with the same technician as my previous visit, but I was still assigned to her. My prior experience with her was not positive, and I was hoping for a different provider this time. once again, I end up not getting it done wasting my time off from work. I've also noticed that the office has become busier with more patients. While I understand the increase in demand, it seems to be affecting the level of professionalism and care. It feels as if the staff may be overwhelmed and not prioritizing individual needs as they should. Overall, these past two visits have been a waste of my time and very unprofessional. I have always had great experiences with your practice in the past, but these recent visits have fallen short. Usually, when I go to a new business location, I check yelp review and see if the offices get good reviews. This time I didn't and it was a huge mistake on my part. I went to Bancroft dental because I had a cracked tooth that was in a lot of pain and it was the only dental office I could find that would give me a next day appointment. I got there staff was friendly, clean dental office, went to the exam room and first they did 360 x-rays followed by manual x-rays, and I waited for the dentist to come in. Dr. James came in very friendly and looked over the x-rays and showed me I not only had a cracked tooth but I also had an upper cavity that needed to be fixed. All right, I have dental coverage. Let's do this. Here's where the story gets very interesting... He tells me because of the work that needs to be done I will have to see another dentist who will meet with me and explain the procedure of what needs to be done. He emphasize that I don't have an infection, but I should not sit on this issue. I need to have it done ASAP. Of course I am in total agreement with you. My mouth is in pain and I want the pain to stop so I ask is this dentist here now or will I be able to get appointment tomorrow? I was told they will take care of me at the front desk. He says in the meantime we will go ahead and get your cleaning done and get you on your way. So when they make the follow up appointment with the specialist it's not until the following Tuesday, this will make it four days of being and throbbing tooth pain because no pain medication was given. Tuesday arrives, I have a 9 o'clock appointment I get there and the dental hygienist tells me they have to take more x-ray. It is a scanning that has to be done and this takes about 15 minutes to do and all it is is a another visual of my mouth, but using a different tools... really didn't see the point of it. Finally, the doctor comes in, Dr. K and she starts telling me what's going on with my mouth and what needs to be done and that I have an infection. I went from coming in to have a crack tooth repaired to not only needing to have a crown put on this crack tooth, but also needing to have a root canal done on the upper tooth with a crown to come later after I complete a one year visalign process to "straighten" my teeth because per Dr. K "my teeth are not leveled correctly". This would be followed by a bridge and partials for two missing teeth in the back of my mouth. I was speechless and seeing red flags all over the building. Are you freaking kidding me? Do I look like boo-boo the fool? So I had to bring Dr. K back to the present and remind her as of today the only thing I need done is to fix this cracked tooth, which still couldn't be done because this was not a procedure appointment, but a evaluation and payment appointment. I was then taken to their financial advisor. I have full coverage from my job and this was the first time using it for the year. After calculation are done, I'm told it will cost $3000 to put a crown on a crack tooth and to do a root canal after my insurance!!! I asked if they offered a payment plan and that's what I was introduced to Cherry financing. She asked me for my phone number. Sent me a link while I'm sitting in her office and told me it only takes five minutes to apply and get approval. I applied, got approved and I saw the interest rate with payments due every week. No I'm not doing this. This is like a loan shark. I was then offered three installment payments with $500 deposit with the second payment due two weeks, followed by the final payment due two weeks after...Wow really!?? I tell them I'll have to think about this because that's pretty expensive even with my insurance. Because Dr. Kay said I had an infection and it was urgent I get this taken care of, she was prescribing some antibiotics for me and I asked before I left their office have the prescription been sent. I was told Dr. K does it through her phone and the prescription will be waiting for me . They were able to send it to Kaiser so I can get it under my medical insurance. I get home check with Kaiser no prescription. Wait a couple hours. Still no prescription. I called the office. Get the answer machine followed by the text message and link. OK I go through the process. I'm told I need to call the office. I call the office leave a message explaining the situation...I'm still waiting for the prescription and this was two days ago. I received no callback from the office, no call back from the doctor. I called again and basically they ghosted me. I guess because I didn't put up the money, anything else I was in need of was irrelevant and of no importance to them. After reading the other reviews, if my infection advances I will be reaching out to an attorney and I also will be filing a claim with the dental board. I agree with other one star ratings... Do not go to this facility it's not an ethical establishment. read more

UPDATE to my 5-Star Review after my 3rd appointment. Dr Mike is literally the most intelligent dentist Ive seen in my 50+ years. I have several issues far beyond a typical cavity or missing tooth. I have a history of mouth pain, chomping tongue, teeth breaking off for no reason, mouth breathing, grinding teeth, sleep apnea while teeth not aligned and abnormalties to the shape of my mouth and how my jaw doesnt fit right. Dr Mike reminds me of Dr. Gregory House and Adrian Munk. He is the only Dentist who explained how the mouth is like the end of a chain reaction (my words) likely started from an old broken crooked nose and previous dentists' work when I was a kid. Again my words, he speaks well with a great vocabulary while being easy to understand. My dental plan will take time and commitment although I will do anything to have my mouth feel right again. I teared up twice to hear my mouth has hope. I spent years of trying to find a dentist who gives a rats@ss and cares or really has the exact knowledge to help me. I am pleased with myself to have made a choice to trust my coworkers in SF, Oakland and West Sacramento when they said this place will be worth the hour and a half drive. I want to tell everyone I know and you to go there. I might start to feel pretty after my work! So excited. read more

My original appointment was moved by the dental office. They had overbooked themselves and could not take me at my time. They gave me a less than a 30 minute notice not to come in after I had rushed home from work to go to my appointment. I had an emergency cut in to the time of my new appointment and called the office twice to let them know ahead of time and received no response. After each phone call I was sent a text link. I sent a text of what had happened and then received a phone call from the receptionist Anastasia. When I told Anastasia what happened she laughed understand her breath at me asking if I could come a different time and said "No you can't do that other people have appointments we can't just move them around or behind for you." I replied that is what happened to me yesterday and you didn't mind moving me around. Anastasia continued to argue with me. I told her that I wanted a refund for my 50% deposit I had made for my appointment that was supposed to happen the day before. Anastasia had a bigger attitude and asked me for my name which was weird since she should have known my name based on my appointment. Due to her attitude and incompetence I asked to speak to someone else. Anastasia hugged and said that's fine I'm not dealing with this and placed me on hold. After waiting on hold for a few minutes a woman named Candy picked up. Candy was a lot more professional and explained the reasoning for why they couldn't assist and more detail about what occurred the day before. She helped me make a new appointment. And said she would let me know about any other openings if I am able to come in earlier than that. Anastasia needs to be spoken with about her phone etiquette and how to remain unbiased with clients are on the line. The dentist and hygienist were fine at my first appointment. It's just the front desk that I have had problems with. The people you put at the front and on the phone represent your business. I had been going to the same dentist for 5+ years prior and never had a cavity in that time. But when I went to Bancroft, suddenly I had 5 cavities! When I expressed skepticism, the dentist showed me photos, like I would have any idea what I'm looking at. I decided not to go back. When their front desk person called me to schedule my 5 fillings, I (politely!) told her I was going to get a second opinion first, and she said, "Oh." and then hung up on me. So anyway, I got that second opinion today, and guess what? No cavities. Do not recommend. The two stars are for how spiffy the place looks and how nice and professional the dental assistant was. They informed me that i needed to take off all my earrings on the lobe to take pictures. But the lady who helped me take pictures was very nice!! and so sweet she had nice eyebrows too lol. she waited patiently while i took them off as i have a lot!! next the doctor who came in not sure his name he explained to me that i needed to do a deep cleaning which the last dentist informed me that i needed done i found this place cuz they were the only ones that offer n2o and numbing cream for it. I called around and most places dont sedate u. I heard it was painful so i was like put me under!! but i dont think tons of places around doesnt do it. And then Hien did my teeth cleaning which it did hurt but it felt good at the same time lol. But she didnt floss or use the scrubbing afterwards thought that was odd but whatever that is fine she scrapped most of my tarter off which i appreciate cuz the last dentist wouldnt even do it without deep cleaning.
