The hotel is really nice. No problem parking. If you arrive without your additional party and want to sit together, you have to wait until they arrive (that is....if you purchased regular tickets). It was fun! We had a sampler platter of different appetizers and a few drinks. Two comedians entertained us before the headliner. I would definitely go back.

My service was good. Waitress was attentive and friendly! I only got fries and drinks but overall my experience was not bad i thought it was cool and different. The room they used was spacious for the show i saw , teachers gone wild.

    Rodeo burger. Super crispy bacon!

Had a great time! Loved the food! It's not like super amazing but it's well seasoned and tasty. I ordered a rodeo burger which had super crispy bacon. I wish the patty was thicker because I was still hungry so I ordered the flat bread pizza which was good. I only wish the server came around more often, I probably would've ordered more. I'd definitely come again.

My husband and I saw Jiaoying Summers headline a comedy show at Bananas a few weeks ago. She was great and it was a fun time! She was promoting tour dates online. We saw that her Jersey show at Bananas was on a Friday, while her Manhattan show at Sony Hall was Monday. Because of the dates, we decided to check out the show in Rutherford. This was our first time at Bananas. I read about how the club is situated inside a hotel; the group leases space inside the Renaissance Hotel on Route 3. My husband did not read ahead and was surprised as we pulled into the hotel parking lot (free parking btw, first come first serve, so try to come early). When you enter the hotel, pass the check in desk on the left and the hotel bar on the right. Head to the back. There should be signage pointing to which conference room was booked that night. Because of demand for the show that night, they split it into two shows - one at 7pm and one at 9pm. Earlier that day, the company emailed everyone to inform them of this and ask them to choose one of the shows. We went with the early one. A few minutes before 7, a man in a Bananas Club shirt signaled to the crowd that we were lining up to go inside and to have your email confirmations ready on your phone. Once you're let into the room, someone will seat you. Eventually a waiter will greet you and ask if you want drinks or want to place a food order. It's a two item minimum for each person. We just got $10 sea salt fries and soft drinks that night. Fries were good. The wait staff were friendly and hustling to take and bring out orders. It's a skeleton set up that does the job. The stage is small and you are very close to the acts. There is one speaker in the back. We were close to the speaker, and didn't have any issues hearing. I wondered though if the people across the room could hear. The vibe was good that night. All the comics had their own style and brought their A games. It was a really funny night.

Tons of cheap deep fried fatty food that was gross Those shrimp bleh!

Ok our first time at the new Bananas. Great comic relief but I highly suggest eating somewhere else before you come Nothing but fatty deep fried food that is pretty gross. You can tell it's just dumped out from a bag in the freezer. Never again! You need to buy two items during the show. I suggest 2 bottles of water or bottled beer. I saw people leaving their 3/4 full drinks behind too Waitress constantly asking for payment during the show. Leave me alone until it's over ! I just paid $40 to see a show not collect money from 6 people We're all going back in a couple of weeks and will be hitting the diner beforehand Also theres a DJ who blares music before the show so be prepared to scream at each other. Best option would be the $15 pizza that looked edible. Very very thin

We heard Kristin Key, who was brilliant. The food was Ok. The pre-show music was much too loud. And there's a $6 fee per ticket. It's not a typical comedy club- it's a converted hotel conference room. They get good talent though and I think none of us go to comedy night for the food... (even though there's a 2-item minimum).

***1 1/2 stars*** I don't have a lot of background with comedy clubs/acts, and I can only think of two prior experiences - once to the Stress Factory in New Brunswick and another time to the Borgata to see Chelsea Handler. They were different environments; one was more of an auditorium/formal setting and the other was a quintessential club, with tables to congregate at, bar service, etc. Bananas is not like either of those, and to actually label it a comedy club is (pardon the pun) laughable and frankly disingenuous. I came here with two compatriots last night for the 7:30pm show, headlined by Bret Ernst of Cobra Kai fame. I was a last-minute fill-in for someone else, so I can honestly say I wasn't familiar with Ernst, nor did I attend because of a genuine, long-term interest in him or the warm-up acts. So grain of salt there. When we pulled in to the Renaissance parking lot, I thought it was a little odd that there was no visible signage indicating that there was a comedy club inside. That feeling was validated when we walked through the lobby to join a line...heading into a literal conference room. That's very key - this was not a room off the lobby that someone had invested time/money in molding into an auditorium-type setting for comedy acts. They literally just took a room that had probably housed a telecom convention or something on Friday afternoon, put an unnecessary curtain up on a wall (it's not covering up an entryway or anything), and shoved way too many tables in there. I've never seen anything like it. I initially told one of my companions upon first sight of the room that I literally thought there was a bingo tournament being held at the same time as our show. That's the vibe. Bizarre. Beyond the fact that it's massively cluttered/chaotic in the room, the tables weren't even set up in a way where every attendee could actually see the "stage" from their seat - many if not most of the seats are literally facing the sides of the room so when the show starts, you have to move your chair or awkwardly tilt your body to see the acts. And to add icing onto that uncomfortable cake, you have to be acutely aware of your neighbors because of how packed it is. If you're not paying attention, it's easy to inadvertently jab someone with your elbow as you arrange your body/seat. Just flat-out not a pleasant experience in that regard, and something that could be easily rectified if Bananas was willing to remove a few of the tables for better maneuverability. It's tough to look at that as anything other than a shameless, transparent cash grab. I didn't assume I'd encounter a high-class food and drink menu at a place like this, but even with the lowered expectations this was pretty rough. The food is pretty much fried junk food, with an emphasis on chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, etc. - a lot of items you'd see at a sports bar. The drink menu had no pricing on it whatsoever, which should have been more of a red flag. I decided to order a paloma off their tiny cocktail menu, and it was literally the worst I've ever had. It just tasted like gasoline with maybe a few drops of grapefruit. Just terrible, and to add insult to injury, this badly made beverage served in a plastic cup with a bendy straw cost $15. I've found cheaper drinks in the Financial District, where I can at least expect properly portioned cocktail ingredients and an actual glass. On the positive side (which isn't going to take nearly as long), our waitress was perfectly fine and efficient - every staffer seemed pretty busy in that chaotic environment, so it wasn't a situation that involved a lot of light chit-chat, but I had no issues in that regard. The bill had an automatic 18% gratuity added (which caused some confusion in the audience when one of the comedians reminded us to tip the servers - I heard several people telling others in their parties not to tip anything further, that it had already been included in the bill), but I wasn't particularly riled up by that; just something to be aware of though. And I thought Bananas managed to attract some legit comedic talent; Ernst in particular was clearly very comfortable in front of an audience and good on his feet. Not my type of humor, but he was very warmly received. The ticket price was about $32. Again, I don't have enough experience at places like this to know if that's considered high or not, but I DO know that I wouldn't have hesitated to pay $40 or $45 if it meant being in an actual club with comfortable seating. Who wants to spend money to feel like a piece of cattle jammed in a stockyard for a few hours? Save the money and go out on the town to a place that actually respects you and your time.

This is a new temporary Bananas location (Renaissance Meadowlands Hotel in Rutherford). This hotel has a very clean and elegant bathroom, has a full restaurant and bar called Finch's. As always the comedians are very talented and funny. Bananas do follow social distancing guidelines, the comedy room is located in a large conference room with a stage. The drink and food menu that Bananas offers is quite unlike Finch's menu. Bananas menu is quite limited with very few appetizers, entrees & drinks. We wish it offered a more varied entrees and drinks, such as Steaks, chops, coladas, frozen margaritas, etc. We would rather eat at Finch's restaurant than inside Bananas. The staff are very friendly and helpful; huge Thanks to Sam (Finch's bartender), Brian and Chelsea.

I wish this venue was closer to me, I'd be there for every hardcore show they put on. For this show there was no barricade; I don't know if that varies from one show to another, but I was happy to see the lack of a barrier when we walked in. The security was just how you want them to be at this kind of show: present and there if needed, but not getting in anyone's way or preventing people from dancing or stagediving. There are two bars in the main area of the Black Box, one at the back, one on the side. And then merch was sold upstairs, and there's another bar there. Snack machines, and candy is also sold at at least one of the bars. I paid $7 for a 12 oz. can of Miller Lite or $9 for Corona, I'm not sure what size that was, 11 or 12 oz. I guess, one of those weird tall, skinny cans. The sound quality here is excellent. They had some lights going on during the bands' sets, but nothing too showy or intrusive. Really, just all around top-quality in terms of sound, stage setup, production. All the employees I encountered were very friendly. This was a pretty big crowd; I don't know if it was sold out or not, but the place was packed by the time AN went on. Sometimes staff can be unpleasant or just generally serious, handling this many people in a theater size venue, but these folks all seemed happy to have us there. I love the Black Box at Williams Center and hope to be back soon.

The sound quality was spectacular, and it was nice to be right in the middle of the action. I would definitely see another show there.

Here's what happened: We attended a show at Gourmet Garage on Nov 19th. We showed up right when his show was starting. He asked for a volunteer. My three year old daughter very excitedly volunteered. He asked her if she liked candy. Of course she said yes. He then proceeded to tell her to grab the piece of candy out of the paper bag he was holding. This started to take a while as she was noticeably confused. He kept coaxing her and even pointed to the "piece of candy" in the bag. Turns out it wasn't candy it was a small roll of toilet paper that he was using for a bit. My daughter teared up and said out loud "I want to go home". It was so obvious that the eight and nine year olds at the show "got" this humor but it was just confusing for my little girl. We stayed because I wanted her to see that this guy was just jokingly doing tricks. I laughed a lot so she could hear me and explained what he was doing. At the end I told her to thank him for the show and ask him if she could have a balloon (he was packing up and visibly had a bag of balloons). He smiled and said thank you. He said "we're not doing balloons today"...clueless.

Saw a ton of them this year huffing and puffing and I felt terrible. It's a huge street fair and they will get tired. Even kids, bring a stroller. Make your life easier! The Rutherford library was out this year and I scored some awesome cookbooks for a dollar. I also snagged some fantastic homemade candles. I love the vendors that have dog treats and clothing, I always grab some sweet potato and chicken treats. Down to the food - the best bang for your buck is Red Basil. They always have a huge stand with 5 dollar options and 3 dollar appetizers to sample. So so tasty! Such a good way to try different things on their menu too. Materas on Park always has some fantastic pasta dish to go, this year they had penne vodka in a paper cone so you can walk and enjoy your carbs. What more can we ask for? The Cuban spot and Suprema also always cook up some delicious treats. You have your standard ice cream truck, hot dogs and typical fair food but stray outside the box and try some of the awesome cuisines they offer on Park Ave. The one bad thing is parking, after 11 am it's a MAD house. So far, every year I've gone to this street fair, the weather has been BRUTAL. You walk down the center of the main street, so there is obviously no shade to hide behind. This year, I stuck to the sidewalk because I brought my newborn, to hide from the sun, so I didn't get to see all the vendors I wanted. Also, I didn't stay too long this year because it was just too freaking hot - for me, for my husband, and for the kids. Regardless of me complaining about the weather, I always enjoy the vibe of the day. So many people come out to enjoy the street fair and like I said, there is plenty to look at and food to indulge in. Can't wait to go back next year!
