    Chicken Breast Kabob Dinner
    Tas M.

Bammiyan Kabob is one of the very first Afghan restaurants to open up back in the day, if not, the very first. I've been to many of their locations. There are so many different Afghan spots now. Despite the competition, they seemed to have maintained their quality and service. They have a big dine-in area so there's plenty of room to sit. Bathrooms are clean. The chicken breast dinner plate was tasty and super tender. It comes with fresh salad, naan and sauce. I took away one star cuz the naan (not in the pictures) was a little bit hard. During previous visits it wasn't like that. The boulagnee is amazing!! Side note - I always forget they only accept debit card or cash.

Tried this place out of curiosity and unfortunately it was a disappointment. For me, the taste of the kababs didn't work. It was a bit too bland for me but maybe for other people, it can work. Usually Afghan Kabobs aren't this bland but thr place definitely had a line up so clearly people enjoy it. The meat, however, was well cooked. It was moist and not at all dry. It just didn't taste as good as the price. I didn't enjoy the rice either and pretty much threw away most of it. The service is fast but a little disorganized. One of my orders was right infront and the person only gave it to me after I waited a bit and then inquired how much longer it will take.

Average food ordered lamb shank kebabs n chapli kebab , presentation was good , taste was better for Chapli kebab but lamb shanks were dry n rubbery. Naan was dry n they did t have butter to moisten it . Average place , nothing to look back on.

Delicious! This is the first time to try Afghan food. It took a long time to get all food I ordered. They screwed up my order twice. Price: Most plates are around $10. Atmosphere: Like a fast food restaurant. Many families. Food: Most plates have meat. Veggie wrap for vegetarians. Only one dessert is a rice pudding. They have a unique drink like non sweet lassie with dry tea leaves on top. The name is DOUGH! Nan is tougher than Indian ones. Lam Ian's the long rice are delicious!! Staffs: They are nice. Attention: No credit card! OMG! I had CAN$20 by chance. Whew. Location: This area is really international. Chinese, Thai, Japanese,... Many exotic restaurants.

Kofta kabob dinner with rice, salad, and naan. Sauces left to right: chutney, chakka (tastes like thick yogurt), and salad dressing.

So delicious. This is one of my favorite places for Afghan kabob. The meats I've tried are seasoned very well. My favorite is the kofta kabob, but the chaplee kabob and barg kabob are great too. The meat is seasoned just the right amount and tastes very tender. Chaplee kabobs here come close to how my grandma makes it :). I prefer getting the dinner, because it also comes with rice (in addition to salad and naan). The rice is Afghan style, meaning it's long-grain basmati rice cooked with spices (and perhaps in a meat broth - that's the traditional way to do it but I'm not sure if they use a vegetarian recipe here). The kofta kabob wrap is a steal (4.99) for a quick lunch option. The red chutney is quite flavorful and just a bit spicy. The white sauce that most people are referring to is salad dressing. However, they have "chakka" which is a thicker version of yogurt. I love dipping naan in this, or adding chakka to my rice/kabob. It's definitely worth trying. They have a few options for non-alcoholic drinks, including dogh which is a very traditional (savory) beverage made with yogurt. Seating can get crowded during popular times and that's when takeout might be a better option. There is a lot of seating though so chances are you'll get a table if you wait a few minutes. There's no sit down service - you order your meal at the cash, sit down, and go to pick it up when they call your number. Note that they don't take credit cards!

I ordered the Chopan with naan. 3 stars to the food. The meat is on the salty side and I can't really taste too much of the lamb or other flavor. Naan was great. One more star to the cashier who was nice and smily :)

The spices were just right with my lamb set. However the restaurant doesn't accept credit cards which was a bit annoying. The portion was really big so I was very full. Lamb came with rice, salad and naan bread which was huge.

This used to be my favourite place until they barely put any salad on my plate!! Over priced ! The girls working there don't care about anything but talking to each other! Why don't you exchange numbers and chat over the phone! After shift !! Very unprofessional ! I've brought a lot of friends here and last time I came was delt in a very rude manner! Standing infront talking, why don't u just hire less people? Rolling eyes is there profession ! Etc but if ur afghani u get smiles and 6 star treatment! ! Unacceptable ! not happy!never coming back!

Aside from the insane line up, bad service and the cheap table/chairs the food is really THAT good. It's traditional Afghan food with most of the traditional choices of rice and meat. Halal Chicken, lamb and beef. Limited veggie options. I came here for take out and for $13, got a hefty container of rice, 2 beef Kabab strips, salad and yogurt sauce. What you should try, coming here: Bouglanee - think quesadilla but softer pan fried bread stuffed with potatoes, spring onions and herbs. Kofta Kabab - 2 skewers of ground beef . The meat is perfectly tender and the spices are JUST right. I cannot explain how hard it is to find the just right mix for the perfect Kabab. This place, they definitely nailed it. Sultani Kabab - the 2 different types of Kabab - this is heaven for meat lovers. 1 skewer of a rougher type of Kabab (think - steak) and 1 skewer of a tender beef Kabab. Qaubolee rice - Traditional Afghan rice. Cooked with chicken broth. Made with thin carrot shreds, raisins and almonds (sometimes cashews). - Delicious. *fun fact: This type of rice is made specifically for meat. *The white rice is made for chicken. Tip: call ahead of time and order. Since this is the only decent Afghan restaurant around Mississauga, you'll see mostly Afghan, persian, pakistani families. Be prepared , you will have kids running around, uncles, fathers, cousins, nephews, aunts, brothers in law- all socializing whilst waiting in line for food. You are pretty much witnessing a family gathering. It's a small space so the tables are all cramped together. I highly suggest take out. The staff are pretty monotone - which is always amusing. Service is next to nil ch here. Don't bother expecting it. Expect what it does offer, authentic Afghan food and nothing else. xoxox M.

Lamb was surprisingly good here. Portions are huge for what you pay. Could use more drinks selection though.

I placed an order for pick up i told the lady that i wanted two dinner meals with tandoori chicken and kebab, everything seemed just fine. Picked up my order 15minutes later and when i was paying for my order i asked the lady for some extra sauce with the meals and she rudely says "NO, IT'S 50 CENTS EXTRA. I said since when do you charge extra for sauce and she points right at this make shift sign that states "extra 50 cents for sauce". Ofcourse i didnt pay for extra sauce!! Why should i? I mean all the other locations give the sauces free of charge. FYI: THE SAUCES PROVIDED WITH YOUR MEAL IS ONLY FILLED HALF WAY, UNBELIEVABLE!! Anyhow my experience doesnt end there, i got back to my place and opened up the meals and seen she only gaved me tandoori chicken without the kebabs. I immediately phoned the restaurant back and spoke to same lady that took my order and i told her, hey you only gave me tandoori chicken when i clearly asked for kebab as well. Now, was i charged extra and just got ripped off? Because tandoori chicken meals cost less She says she didnt charge me extra, she only charged me for the "tandoori chicken meals" but whats odd is the amount didnt add up to two meals of tandoori chicken, it was more!! Her response to the missing kebabs was SORRY I FORGOT and thats it WOOOOOOOOOW!! so i asked what are you going to do now? are you going to make the kebabs since they are clearly missing.. she says: nono sorry. 1. She didnt offer to make the meal correctly and for me to come back. 2. She wasnt honest that she indeed charged me for tandoori chicken and kebab. -instead i was given tandoori chicken meals. Never again. Worst customer service. "She forgot" aka deal with it. Take your money else where!!

Food wise not so great either. Wasn't given any sauce for the salad to eat with. Had to ask for a dressing because I saw someone got one without asking. Food was quite dry. The restaurant itself was quite small, with only a handful of tables and a few booths. It felt quaint, with cultural decor on the walls and music playing on the speakers. I had settled on the pork kebab with rice, salad, and naan. My husband had decided on the mixed grill, which included chicken and beef, along with salad, rice, and naan. We only had to wait about ten minutes before our meals were brought to our table by the kind server that had taken our orders earlier. The food was absolutely amazing! The pork was very tender, and the salad had a nice flavour to it, especially when mixed with the rice. The naan was a great addition, as I ate it with the dipping sauces that were given on the side. The food was abundant; I didn't even finish my dish as it was too much. My husband agreed that his meal was also delicious, and well-worth the price. Would definitely return and will recommend to others!
