The demo was very helpful before we broke in to groups and tried it out for ourselves. Due to this class' popularity - the group sizes were a bit larger (we had 5). Although we all found tasks to divvy up, we did feel bad that most didn't get to really try out all the steps of making this high-maintenance cookie to really get hands-on experience. Becki, our instructor & AK owner, was very interactive and helpful throughout the whole class. She provided good tips and tricks & created a fun environment, encouraging & fostering great group interaction. During the baking time we took a brief "shopping break" to explore the store. Becki has so many practical, high-quality cooking items it is a great store. You could find absolutely anything you could possibly need in your kitchen! Back to class, Becki had prepped the buttercream for us to fill the cookies. She went over different combinations we could try with jelly fillings & then we got to try our hand at filling. We only wished we had remembered to ask a few questions about making the buttercream, since we didn't get to mix this up during the baking phase & gain hands-on experience. We are always so impressed with the variety of classes Becki offers, her passion for cooking, & we loved the great environment she fostered during the class. The members of the class were from all over the metro, proving it really is worth "the drive" to Buffalo if this is not a close location for you. I was able to walk around and take my time looking around at all of the knives. I'm not in the restaurant industry, I just love to cook and have been wanting to buy my first professional chef's knife. Everyone there is so knowledgeable and friendly. The guy was amazingly helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to offer suggestions and tips. When I got my knives back they included a little note with a recipe to test them out and ab"thank you". It was really nice and I didn't know they give a portion of sharpening and class sakes to pay off student lunch debt (which is a ridiculous thing tonhave exist). They hold monthly classes for skills and sharpening as well as custom orders. If you can't make it during the day they have a drop box behind the shop you can put your knives in and they'll text you with updates. I will definitely be coming back for any knife needs.

She was baking for her Bunko group and wanted to make a type of dessert that you can handle with your fingers. She said she had gotten her pans at COSTCO, so naturally I went to look- they were sold out, and no wonder, Nordic Ware is fantastic quality. I did an online search and connected directly with Nordic Ware; I found exactly what I wanted plus more! Their Naturals line is a high end aluminum of professional quality and strength- I am a busy baker so this is just what I wanted. They also had the cooling racks and the durable lids for the pans! So, the cooling racks are oven safe- this is handy if you are cooking some bacon and want the grease to drip down into the pan as opposed to having the bacon swim in grease as it is cooking. The lids are so useful if you are taking some brownies or other goodies to some friends. The quarter sheet pans are also the perfect site to use as prep pans for deep frying foods- use one pan for flour dredging, the next for the egg wash and a third for your bread crumb coating- easy!!!! The length and depth of these pans is great for this type of prep. I am so thrilled with my purchase and it came beautifully packaged- the Nordic Ware logo tape across the box instantly put a smile in my face. When I opened the package, everything was wrapped In Nordic Ware logo paper. It was like unwrapping a gift to myself (yes it was ). Nothing works better at warming up a chilly house like baking something in the oven!
