I'm a huge fan of bamboo! This was my first time at this location, and I really liked how there was more seating available compared to other locations, and I liked the interior design with the natural elements. The service was great! Servers were attentive & provided a generous amount of ginger compared to other Bamboo locations. However, I was a bit disappointed by the green machine. This is my go to order, and I felt like the tempura was overcooked, which made the green machine taste a bit drier than usual despite the sauce. Additionally, the avocado crispy rice was a bit too salty at some bites and the rice was a bit dry. Overall, I enjoyed my experience dining at Bamboo. The forbidden fruit (cocktail) was refreshing. My friend ordered the viewpoint but the pisco was overpowering!

Stopped by again when I came back to Portland for work and got the Garden of Eden and Rivers & Streams roll to share with a coworker (two rolls plus an appetizer was more than enough for us!) The balance of flavors is really well done and you can tell the ingredients are super fresh. Highly recommend sticking with their signature rolls, they're signature for a reason! For apps we got the sunomono and the brussel sprouts which were good but not great. Not sure I'd order the sunomono again, I prefer a much more savory cucumber salad and this one was on the sweeter side. Don't think they added any soy sauce which was a miss for me. Overall a pretty good spot considering prices and portion sizes. Will say service was a bit slow this time around even though there were only a few parties in the restaurant.

Premium and delicious sushi with relaxing and ambient decor. Great for a nice dinner date if you have some money to spend! The sushi is delicious and well portioned we most likely could have had one more roll but we decided on dessert instead this evening which was phenomenal. I didn't realize this place had different locations but this one is beautiful especially in the location it's in. The sushi has a distinct flavor and tastes fresh, whereas the dessert we received was bold and rich in flavor and settled all the food we had for the evening. Of course the service was amicable, they delivered it with a smile and I don't have much more to say about that. All in all a great place to enjoy a delicious meal

Bamboo truly has my heart when it comes to sushi in Portland! But it's been unfortunate that the last 3x we have been to this location it hasn't been a great experience.. the first time our last sushi roll didn't come out for over 30 minutes after we finished all of our food. The server felt really bad & ended up taking that off the bill. Then the next time we came there which was December 2025, where our food took over 30 minutes to come out & the server then also gave us a discount. Then this past weekend it happened again. It's a very weird coincidence that we have had not the best service the last three times we've been here in a row. This weekend, our server, which was great, was mortified by how long the food took to come out. We did the Portland Dining Month dinner & it didn't come out in the order that it was supposed to which was fine. They thought the gave us the first course but they didn't. It took over 30 minutes to get food. Multiple parties that came in after us had finished all their food, paid & left.. Again, they do try to make up for it by giving a little discount & our server gave us edamame. It sucks because this is the closest location to us, but somehow getting bad service 3x in a row didn't sit well with us. I'm sure it's not intentional but it's odd. Food is still delicious but 1.5 hours here is too long waiting around for sushi to get to us. Even the dessert took forever after we were finally done. Our server had to stand by the kitchen window to make sure they hurry & get it done. Anyways, we do greatly appreciate them trying to make up for it.

Special of the Day ;)

Been to all the locations and this spot is Bamboo best: ~In the heart of the Alberta arts district. Very relaxing to sit outdoor on the sidewalk on a sunny afternoon. ~Modern inside izakaya decor, always lively with energy. ~Sushi rice consistently perfect here. The best service each time here. They are just happy here.

I admit I slacked off on this one as I visited this restaurant in August 2025 when I was in Portland. I even forgot to add a check-in for this restaurant. I am a bad Yelper. Other than that, this Bamboo Sushi restaurant was a nice place to have a good sushi dinner. This restaurant (and many others) was conveniently located a few blocks from where I was staying so I was able to walk there. It is a small interior but there is seating on the sidewalk for outdoor dining. My friend and I were directed to seating along the front window. It is a nice spot to people watch and have nice conversation. Our server was excellent and professional. We ordered the edamame, the tune, sea bream, scallop sashimi, cucumber sunomomo and the spicy tuna crispy rice. Everything was very good and both of us enjoyed the meal.

This Bamboo location is elite. They have the freshest rolls and the best tasting ones. The amount of green sauce they add is perfect! The wait time is usually pretty quick. We finessed this table during a packed out night and sat for literally only 30min total.

Bonus roll for valentines!

Had a very nice time here tonight. I've never been to the Alberta location, so here goes. First impressions, okay, but, we did have a reservation (4pm on a weekday...), asked if we could change tables due to the glare outside, and not rude or anything, but, just set an odd tone, aka, there's nobody in here, and wasn't for more than an hour, let's not make it seem like you're looking for a table--especially for two. Ordered a HH wine, took what felt like forever. But then, great service after. The folks here were so nice, and after we settled in and ordered a round of food, awesome! We got a few drinks a piece (just us two). The tofu vodka cocktail...interesting, but not great, just something you don't see all the time. Glad we tied it. Other than that, either classic or just wine. Drink prices are good for HH. Food, we got veggie tempura, which is a crazy portion, but kinda missed the crunch and flavor I'm used to, but good, the sauce, no flavor at all and we ended up lemon and soy adding at the table. Spicy miso soup, and wow, the chili oil added a lot, and the dashi was salty, bold and right sweetness. Nice! Tuna crunchy rice, amazing quality, but lacked salt or another item to round it out. Nigiri, Ikura, Kanpachi (sorry if I botched that), and scallop were incredible and the rice, which is the main dish here--each grain is sweet, vinegar and separate, from the other grains, which is (besides the "topping"), the most critical part. Wow! Bonus! They were trying out a roll for Valentine's Day with the staff looked like, and they came by and gave a whole portion to us for FREE! Nice touch! Pro move on their part. Will be back again, as far as prices go, it's Bamboo, so no real deals here, just good food, that you know where it comes from, and be willing to pay a fair price for it--that doesn't break the bank. The two of us were fat and happy (and a little buzzed), for a price we felt good about. Not bad for very quality Japanese! Oh, and I almost forgot, on the nigiri, it's real wasabi, not the paste that's mostly horseradish!

Coho sushi sunset role and another I don't remember! Delicious

Not much parking as it is on a Main Street. We were able to hop out to go get our pick up order and park on the side to wait. Their online system was having issues so apparently didn't send the order. When I showed them the email they got the 2 roles and app ready in 10 min which is pretty good. $44 for 2 rolls and a sashimi - hit the Sushi craving. Didn't seat in to eat but vibes felt nice and had outdoor seating as well.

My favorite sushi place for many years, especially as someone who avoids seafood. The vegetarian options are great. Also, they have delicious crafted cocktails, and draft beers. Great service and atmosphere.

Today is my birthday and my sweet partner took me out to dinner here. The past 2 weeks have been difficult on us, and even more so in past 3 days. In order for a proper birthday celebration, we decided to split 3 appetizers amongst our respective sushi roll meals. The food came promptly along with fantastic service. As we began to indulge in the courses, our moods switched from exhausted woe to an energized happiness. This food was so delicious, we perked up through the fog and relished in a deserved moment of joy. They also gave us a free brownie that was perfectly moist and dense, topped with vanilla icecream, accompanied by berries. For free! Because of m birthday. 5 stars!

King salmon nigiri, 12pc chefs plate sashimi
Jen V.

What they do well - they do amazing, and their weak spots are still average - so a solid 4/5. My favorites: - spicy salmon crispy rice (I could've eaten 4 plates) - king salmon nigiri Weak spots: - the cocktails: shishito sour 2/5 Service was a bit rough BUT they were very understaffed and our server did her best and I totally understood. They definitely have higher prices than I would want BUT I appreciate how eco conscious they are. All in all would come back, but may try a few other spots to help me appreciate this one ;)
