Being the first to review this place on qype. Let me tell you about Papa Chans, its a…read morerestaurant/takeaway in the centre of Broxburn. And what the drew me to this place that it it serves both Chinese and Italian food. Never heard of such a thing in my life. Believed that maybe the food wasnt going to be up to my expectations. Having been lived and dinned in Edinburgh i have tried my good share of restaurants in Edinburgh- a true foodie. A few years ago i moved in to West Lothain for work. Restaurant has changed hands in May 2012, but has been open for about 3 years. Had a period of closure due to a electrical fire in the kitchen. To kill 2 birds with 1 stone they used this opportunity to also extend the back of the restaurant. Many a time i have seen the back area booked for large parties. The decor is not your usual chinese theme. Its quite a modern looking restaurant that wouldnt feel out of place if it was in Edinburgh. Love the booth tables with the comfy benches. Beautiful chandeliers hang from the ceilings, while the mirrors catch the light from them. Flocked wall paper and black wood, create a romantic but casual setting. Even tho the place has a new management the same chef is cooking the meals. , and the front of house staff had changed. And no lie its the same great food, so no unpleasant surprises. For those who may have dinned here before. They open both for lunch and dinner. But welcome people who just want a coffee or a drink by the bar. The staff are very attentive and polite. The set lunches are great value 2 course for £7.50. There is both chinese, italian choices. I always have minestrone soup and lasagna. The lasagna is the best i have ever tasted and so filling tat i never have space for pudding. But if i did i would go for the home made Sticky toffee pudding. As its so moist and soft. I find some of the Italian restaurants make the lasagna too salty or heavy handed on the cheese. But Papa Chans have it just right. At lunch times they also serve toasties, sandwiches and baked potatoes. Also do a set early evening menu from £9.95 for Sunday to Thursday. With both Chinese and Italian options to choose from. This is very good value and for a extra £2 you can have a pudding. When i have friends over i order takeaway as a treat from here. They have a family meal deal which is just £20 for a large pizza with 3 toppings (great for fussy kids) 2 starters and 2 mains also a bag of prawn crackers. Beats having to cook at that price.

So now they have a nice pop up shop on the other side of town. Unfortunately they don't serve you. So you order inside and then you can take away or eat at the cute outside courtyard. The food was outstanding and we enjoyed both our appetizers and main dish. We have a lot of great Thai food in California and this would be at the top of the list if we were locals. Highly recommend!

After reviewing the menu, we went with the following: - Tom yum soup with shrimp - Red Curry with chicken - Drunken noodles with shrimp - Veggie stir fry Our favorite was the tom yum soup! The soup really hit the spot, the flavor was on the spot! Our next favorite was the satay chicken, perfectly grilled, chicken was still moist and tender. The red curry was good, but the chicken was very chewy, which made the dish mediocre. I would recommend you get this with shrimp or with no protein. The drunken noddle was under whelming... could have used more seasoning and it was missing something, something that I couldn't get my finger on. The veggie stir fry, you can make this at home yourself, the only seasoning they used was oyster sauce. The service was good, the food came out quickly.
