Excellent Thai restaurant in the new town section of Edinburgh. Ordered the pre theater meal which is a starter and a main for £13.95 plus £1 for sticky or cocoanut rice. Started with nicely done chicken satay. Went with the Penang curry which was delicious. Equally good was the green curry and the sweet and sour chicken. Dragon curry will burn your mouth with extreme spice yet it's full of flavor. Service is courteous and attentive and though it's a tad expensive, it's worth it. Great first meal here in beautiful Edinburgh and highly recommend this place.

I've been reading a novel set in Bangkok and became obsessed with wanting some spicy somtam green papaya salad. So last night, wanting a quick meal, noodles and salad were the perfect answer. Phuket Pavilion is lovely - friendly staff, free prawn crackers (I'm not sure how Thai that is, but they're good!) and tasty food. I'll leave the pad thai review to Jason, the expert, but man, that somtam salad was spicy and fresh and delicious. I want some more now....

Phuket Pavilion is owned by a very charming man called Bill and his wife, and is temptingly right opposite my flat building. Bill scores cool points because he's been to Lagos, where I'm from, and the menu isn't too shabby either! It's extremely well thought out and one definitely isn't spoilt for choice. The food, thai cuisine, includes several starters (over fifteen!) as well as soup, duck, seafood, and curry specialities! They've also got a long list of offerings for vegetarians, such as starters, soups and curry dishes. The restaurant is quite large, and if one ventures in far enough, there's a room with a whole wall covered in a painting of a far away, warm tropical place that is definitely NOT Edinburgh. Forgive the negativity, but the weather at the moment is quite depressing. I'm off point. A friend and I split the Gaeng Dang, which is a delicious red curry dish that we chose to have with King Prawns. O.M.G!

We popped along to Phuket Pavilion after an evening of theatrical entertainment in the Barony Bar. It served us very nicely, with my seafood dish proving particularly tasty. Overall, we said: "Phuket Pavilion served us good quality dishes that met with approval round the table. I'd be happy to pay it a return visit."

I ate in Phuket Pavillion with some friends last year, and we all conceded that its service, food and atmosphere was flawless. Phuket is an island off the coast of Thailand whose food, although characteristically Oriental, has its own unique style and flavour combinations. The mood feels really relaxed and tranquil with soft lighting and gentle music, very fitting for the 'island' theme of the restaurant. The menu is extensive with an ecclectic range of curry, seafood, duck and stir fry dishes. I went for the chicken penang with egg fried rice which came in a filling portion and a hot, creamy sauce. We all thought the food was great and it seemed to take no time at all to arrive. Further, it's moderately pirce, only costing about £15 per person which makes it a viable option for a tasty meal out.

Really great and authentic Thai food. I've eaten there dinner and Inreally enjoyed. The menu is varied so don't worry about not founding something to eat there. The prices are okay.

Ordered take-away after a long touristy day. Everything was delicious! All the veggie dishes were top notch, the curries are tasty.

For those familiar with original place, you'll know the food is top notch quality and yummy! They've also opened up an adjoining bar called The Bangkok bar which serves Thai street food. V handy if you're down that end of town for drinks and fancy a tasty small bite alternative. Sometimes Thai food just hits the boozing spot like nothing else!! I've not tried the cocktails but I'm assured by a friend they're worth a trip. I tried the main restaurant on Saturday night as part of a big group celebrating a friends birthday. They were more than happy to accommodate large groups, balloons and birthday cake. Nothing was an issue at all. Wine wasn't overpriced. Instead of my normal go-to Thai options I mixed it up a bit with a starter of Marinated quail and a main of Osso Bucco Massaman. The quail was delish! Crispy, salty, tasty. I would have sucked the bones dry if I wasn't trying to be a lady in front of the group! Ha ha. A really nice alternative to chicken. I'm not sure i was entirely sold on the main though which is probably my aversion to hunks of meat and bone, not a reflection of the quality of the dish. The meat was slow cooked and tender, but I was put off a bit with the sliced bit of bone marrow in the centre. I guess I'm not an Osso Bucco kinda gal really. Its definitely in a "man food" category. The sauce was amaaaaazing though! I had a few spoons waved my way for a taste. This place is well worth a visit!!!

So now there is one on Broughton Road that is much more convenient. The food is just divine. The portions are pretty big and worth every penny. They have a delicious cocktail menu and are always keen to make bespoke cocktails depending on what you like. I can't wait to go back!

Dusit was the very last restaurant I ate at in my trip to Edinburgh and boy was I glad I found it. Unlike Scottish food there is actually FLAVOR. I could believe my taste buds after a week of disappointment in other various restaurants. My companion and I bought the banquet dinner (essentially like a tasting menu) and the portions were HUGE! You get this enormous platter for a starter filled with various rolls, dumplings and skewers as well as a spicy beef salad. Try not to fill up as you get a choice of 3 mains and these are also pretty large too! I thought they would decrease the size of the mains because of the selection process but nope, each one was in their own right a single entree size! We chose the crispy chicken, the duck and the spicy beef (that was probably the spiciest thing on the menu). Everything was delicious and the spice was completely manageable. I was actually a bit hesitant initially because I was the ONLY asian customer in that restaurant at the time that I went. Usually, that is a really bad sign of westernized asian food that tends to be less spicy and blander. But that wasn't the case at all and I thought it was all so very delicious. I also ordered a Thai iced tea and to my surprise you get to add your own amount of sweet syrup and condensed milk. That's great because you can customize the Thai iced tea to your liking! I loved the decor and the seating arrangements (plenty of space between tables). The staff were michelin star-d attentive. I have never seen staff in an asian restaurant as attentive as these. They cater to your every need and was always on hand to refill your wine or water glass. This restaurant is a diamond in the rough and a must try if you come to Edinburgh!
