Watertown, WI isn't exactly a hotbed of international cuisine but when it comes to Chinese food, Bamboo Kitchen has the city covered. During my summers at my mom's place she'll get that itch for Chinese food and this is where she sends me. Bamboo Kitchen has a huge menu and features all the goodies you expect from a Chinese place. There is also Pad Thai available if you want something a bit different. I placed an order over the phone and got five different dishes. I was told it was going to be ready in 15 minutes. Sesame Chicken, Pad Thai, Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken and Broccoli Beef. I was hoping they were serious about the time being that I called from a 951 area code lol. I arrived and sure enough they were putting the finishing touches on my order. Bamboo Kitchen doesn't really have much going on and everything is prepared to order. Two 1-2-3 item combos here so keep that in mind. The food was all delicious except the Broccoli Beef but that's only because I'm allergic to broccoli and can't eat the stuff. The Kung Pao was definitely my favorite. In California, many of the Chinese spots load up the celery in their Kung Pao. Bamboo Kitchen uses zucchini and I can assure you this is a better choice. I've eaten at Bamboo Kitchen a couple of times and have yet to be disappointed. My kids and I order from here ALOT there have been minor things wrong multiple times, however the food is good. We support local and always keep ordering. This time was the last. The customer service was terrible. I placed my phone order at 6:20pm im pretty sure the owner answered he was not friendly what so ever. I new exactly what I wanted placed the order which was only 2 things. I was told 35 to 40 minutes. This brings me to 7:10pm give or take no biggie I would be fine if it was 7:30pm. 7:45 rolls around I call again he is rude again and says my order is on it's way. We continue to wait. 8:20pm I call again no food he is beyond rude because I called again and finally looks up our order and says the driver left with our order and 5 more. WHAT so basically you didnt have enough orderes for your driver to go ut so you held ours ?? NOT OK Our food arrived at 8:35pm this is not okay I called and asked for a refund him knowing we are repeat customers him saying well I already mae the food. Yes, you did and I bet my order cost you MAYBE just MAYBE $8.00 to cook and I paid you $25.00 for a delivery that was 2 hours. You should have offered a refund a coupon some kind of compensation. Super Fast, Reasonable Prices, the delivery guy is always interesting and pleasant. I've had some interesting conversations with him! The Pad Thai is very good if you ask for it spicy! The only complaint I have is on the red Thai curry which just wasn't the right texture for me--almost like they were thickened with corn starch or something. The flavor was okay, but consistency wasn't right for me. Also, I'd be ecstatic if they brought on some of Thai eggplant for these! For appetizers we tend to go for the Crab Rangoon and Dumplings--both are great! It's good to have options in this town and this place is friendly, tasty, and very reasonable. I have ordred here multiple times. The food is really good no doubt about it, but that delivery driver... Each time, I get the same delivery driver with the same attitude, when I first encountered said delivery driver, I just thought he was having a bad day. Oh, I was so wrong, each time he comes he's always just so cranky. Tonight I ordered my friend and I supper, the person on the phone was very nice and very respectful. I get a voicemail saying that he doesn't know who it's for and that there is no name on it, making it seem like it was my fault not knowing who it was for. The lady on the phone never asked what my name was, so I didn't see it as a big deal. He then called me again saying "I will blow your phone up because again there is no name on the order" I eventually called back, because I was at work and ordered delivery on my break. He ended up finding me and it was raining, so maybe I understand why he was so flustered. Because I ended up not having enough cash to pay for my order, that I told him I had to run to my car to get the last of the cash. He said "Well where even is your car?" I explained that the parking lot was about ten feet away from him pointing to my car. He then said "Well make it quick" He was standing under a gazebo anyway so I didn't really understand why he so much attitude. He then drove his car in a circle to meet us by are cars. We then asked if he could split a 20 with us because that is all we had. He did not seem happy with us, but we did give him a tip. read more

I like it pretty well, and it's the only Thai choice in town. Really like the eggrolls and the crispy chicken. Generally a takeout place, though they do have a few tables. It's in the same mini plaza as a little ceaser's so parking can get a little busy. read more

This place when they opened up was a decent, I don't know what happened since then, but the food has become barely edible. The flavors are still OK, but the fried rice is always extremely greasy now, the chicken is full of tendons and the beef is almost always soft and chewy. The crab Rangoon is still decent, but the egg rolls feel store bought at best...wish I could recommend this place to people because I want more food alternatives in Watertown, but it's not worth it anymore. Have had Bamboo Kitchen a few times but this last time was just ridiculous!! I know that orders get messed & that's fine! I called ahead to let them know the problem & I would be coming back! I am one...that if I have to return food...I want everything I ordered to be remade & fresh! I was told over the phone that this wouldn't be an issue & everything would be fresh! I didn't even eat here but I'm super disappointed. Perhaps I have too high of expectations after recently moving from a large city. I called for a take out order. My first order contained the Beef Chow Fun. Shortly after placing my order I revived a call back saying they were out of the chow fun. So I replaced with Moo Goo Gai Pan. Again I receive a phone call after my order telling me they have no mushrooms. I cancelled my order. What kind of a Chinese restaurant runs out of mushrooms! As an advid fan of Thai food, finding this delivery option in Watertown is great. Crispy egg rolls, not soggy, although they could use a bit more umpph. The veggies in the curry and basil dishes were fresh and not overcooked, sauces were tasty and light. I will ask for a bit more spice next time, but I use the food I have had in Thailand as my comparison. This will be a definite go to for delivery here in Watertown. Great find. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! Went to the college up the road and ate here as often as I could. Quick food and tasted great! Not much seating but I preferred to eat back at campus. Normally, this is a really great place to eat. But, the customer service today was awful. A member of my house hold is allergic to mushrooms, and they were in the dish. We called them, and asked if they could fix it. They said no, and it was our fault. Because, we didn't ask what vegetables were in there. So, went and got another order and payed them twice. Just ordered my first delivery order from the new Bamboo Kitchen. The service on the phone was great and they said only 35 minutes for delivery right in the middle of dinner time. I so wanted this place to be great! The thought of Thai food in Watertown had me excited. The food is average -- not bad at all. My issue is with the "restaurant" portion; there are very few tables in the place, and the delivery drivers typically occupy one of the tables with books, newspapers, etc. This presents a problem, whether you are dining in or carrying out, with seating. I've been in there three times when there is nowhere to sit and have had to stand next to a table where others were eating -- very uncomfortable. read more

Despite the fact that I am not rating this establishment five stars, I highly recommend it. As good as the food is none of the items really fall into the outstanding category. I recommend any beef or pork selection. I am not into chicken and I can not speak for anything that swims. I do not recommend the curry because I find it too sweet. The rest of the items are SO good though that this is not a big deal. The lunch/dinner specials are a good deal because these items feature fried rice, white, or brown rice and an egg roll. Some of my highly recommended personal favorites are the following beefs: Hunan, Szechuan, Sriracha, Mongolian, and boneless spare ribs. We've only visited this establishment twice. On both occasions the place was dingy and looked like it could use a health inspection. I can understand having an off day, but both visits were slow weekdays without much business. During our last visit, our dish was supposed to have shrimp and scallops, but when we got it home we found that it only came with shrimp. Plus, the establishment failed to give us rice, which was supposed to come with the dish. Each time we ordered at this place, our food was way too sweet, as well. It always tastes like there is a ton of sugar in it. We really couldn't taste anything else. Frankly, we would have been happier with Ramen noodles. I would give this place five stars but just ordered the red curry... So dissappointing... Instead of a rich red coconut curry what you get is a bland mess of water and corn starch.
