Read rave reviews here on Yelp and decided to try this place. It's a very small hole in the wall place, and usually those kinds of places are best. So yeah, very small inside, not a lot of tables, but enough, apparently, as most ppl seem to get their food "to go". As we were dining in, we saw many many customers come in, order, and go... constant customers. So, it seems to be a popular place. The food: We got the brisket plates with two sides each. We had the coleslaw, mac & cheese, and the potato salad. The brisket was 1/3 fat, 1/3 hard exterior portion that was like bark, and 1/3 edible. The edible part had a pretty good smoked brisket flavor. The coleslaw was rather tasteless with a boring dressing that seemed like watered down mayonnaise. The potato salad was more like mayonnaise with a few potatoes in it - WAY too much mayonnaise. The mac & cheese looked REALLY good. But, it was just ok, and rather bland. At $24 for this plate, it was VERY disappointing. I could ignore the bland sides, but for the meat being only a third edible. As for the barbeque sauce that they use, eh. They have a "set-up" with all different types of sauces and rubs from the same company - Malcolm's -for customers to purchase. It was just ok, nothing special. Which is rather disappointing for a local place. I would expect a local eatery to make their own BQ sauce. Homemade is SO much better than store bought bottled ... stuff. And EASY to make! IF I get bottled stuff, it is Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory & Brown Sugar... Mmmm. But I digress,...I really think this place could be so much better if they just added a little flavor to their coleslaw dressing, cut back on mayo and added some spices to their pot salad, add some seasoning... or, like jalapenos, green chile, or bread crubs to their mac, and made their own BQ sauce. These are the reasons ppl go local, NOT for something they can buy in the store. Something with some imagination, creative culinary art. I'm thinking SV ppl must be desperate for a place to eat to rave about this place so much! In a pinch, I'd prob eat here again, if I'm really craving BQ, but too lazy to make it myself, to buy ready to heat brisket, or go to Tucson. They can do better!!! read more

Friends told me of his place for Bisquit's & Gravy. So, I went and that was a big mistake. Some how they got COLD from the kitchen to my table. And they gravy lacking substance and was almost as thin as water. And the price was as WOKE as the restaurants with the exception of Culivers. I wish they would serve B&G. When CARL's JR. quit, that was the last of good B&G at a reasonable price, I won't be going back either. So sorry Places open up such hi prices. Same with Pop Eyes. - Meat lacks true smoke flavor. Was the brisket was slow cooked in the oven? - First point of contact. Thirteen or fourteen year old male that clearly would prefer to be with his friends. First impression was pity and emotion I can't remember feeling in this context. Management coaching will have no effect when managers have no leverage. Avoid employing family and friends. - Confusion. I was undercharged by about $10. Legally the sale was completed and they had no right to forced me to cough up the additional funds. Knowing that if I was assertive the child clerk may have had an emotional meltdown I said nothing and paid for their error. - No receipt or other takeaway printed material. I was not offered a receipt and no brochure was placed in my bag. I had to search the net to determine where I had been. Very strange for a new restaurant that must build their brand to survive. - Pricing. On the high end. No one cares about the grade of your meat. A good bit boss can make any grade taste good. No bread offered. Coleslaw will be thrown out. Tasteless. No tang that always accompanies coleslaw. Perhaps it came out of a large vacuum sealed plastic bag and the cook forgot to add 'part 2' to the now opened bag. It is much better not to offer an inferior side. The managers would benefit by going to Rudy's in Tucson to better understand how to successfully run a hole on the wall BBQ joint. However, the chief seemed like a know it all. Why bother if they won't open their eyes, listen, learn, and implement. In the current trajectory it is not if but when this restaurant (what was the name again?) crashes. Hopefully the young male will have his safety belt on. He will need it. As we know the pilot and co-pilot rarely survive a crash. Perhaps that is for the best? Empathy goes out to the family that is being dragged along in Dad's experiment. It is reminiscent of Mosquito Coast (AppleTV)! We are not in a backyard experimenting. Updated Review... Expensive compared to other BBQ places in Tucson. I was expecting larger portions for the price. The brisket was very juicy, but had an unusual taste... similar to a creosote charcoal sooty flavor.... perhaps that due the fat cap pieces I requested instead of the leaner cuts. The ribs were better, but were small. No smoke ring, but they had a good amount of flavor. I prefer the larger St Louis ribs at other BBQ places. The baked Mac and cheese was pretty tasty due to the real cheese used... I would order this again. The bbq sauce was just right. I was hopeful that Bam Bam BBQ would be on par with the good ones out of town (think Famous Dave's) but it wasn't. Perhaps it was an off day... I'll probably give them another try. read more

Oh my goodness! I tried their ribs and they are to die for! I called ahead and asked if they had a full rack. He held one for me. It's a good idea if you do that. The owner told me they sell out usually by 5:00 on Friday. He said it's a good idea to pre order on Thursday. Just call. The smoky taste was there and very good but the barbecue flavor was delish! All of our food came out together, fresh & hot, which is impressive as it was just the owner working in the kitchen, and we were not the only table or customers in the place! It's going to be hard to write what I want to say, because I have to keep it short enough that people will read it, but I can't do justice to what we just experienced and be brief, so here goes. BAM BAM BBQ has SOUL. It has HEART. It has LOVE. This team is community focused and service oriented. You can go lots of places to buy BBQ. You have to go to BAM BAM BBQ to get what we just got. Brady McManus, the owner, works the front and back of the house like the captain of a ship. He's everywhere, making sure every detail is perfect. The staff was on point, checking just frequently enough to make sure everything was perfect. If you read a book about how to run a restaurant, and it had a list of 40 things you need to make sure you do, this crew would check off every item, and have five more to add. THE MEATS Portions? Generous. Quality? Off the charts. The sauce? Complex, but familiar. Perfect in consistency, flavor, quantity, and the way it complements the meat. The meat itself? Oh. My. GOD. The first bite of my ribs had me remembering every attempt I made at ribs. Every time I've even eaten ribs. And I realized that I knew nothing. My face was like one of those videos of a deaf baby hearing his mother's voice for the first time. Tender, smokey, juicy, the bone pulls gracefully away, and what remains is like some sort of smoked pork candy. They offered gloves, and I said, "I want nothing coming between me and this experience." The brisket? There's not enough internet to contain everything I could say about the brisket. You may think you've had the perfect brisket before. You have not. It's "slap yo' mama" good. The pulled pork and the turkey were equally phenomenal. I don't know if I can ever eat pulled pork again without getting angry at the pitmaster for not being Brady. THE SIDES They fly gouda in from Germany for their mac n' cheese. My son had it with brisket and a drizzle of that SAWS-UH. Its a good thing the floors in this place are so clean, because I had to pick myself up off of them after the first bite. I literally dropped my fork, picked it up, wiped it off, and kept eating because I didn't want to wait for a new one. The cole slaw was like nothing I have ever experienced. It's refreshing. It's clean. Its almost mandatory, because if you have a bite of it between portions of meat, you get to experience the whole first bite feeling every single time. The baked beans. BAKED BEANS for crying out loud. The one area that most restaurants will cut corners. They could have been a meal all to themselves, and we would have left with our mouths hanging open. When you can detect texture (think al dente), flavor (a spectrum of flavor, not just a gloopy oversweet mess), a little smoke, and tanginess. I used to have to polish the bottoms of my shoes in the Army. I used to think "Why in the hell do I have to polish the bottoms?" My sergeant told me "If they catch even a glimpse of them, they need to be squared away." BAM BAM BBQ didn't have to go this hard on their beans. But I'm glad they did. DESSERT Bro....just....I can't even. NY Style Cheesecake. Rocky Road Brownie. A lemon bar you could serve the queen if she was still alive, and she'd die happy on the spot. We're going back for the banana pudding. They were sold out, because that stuff is famous in this state. If it's as good as everything else on the menu, I'd camp out on the sidewalk for it like it was a black friday sale on PS5's. OVERALL I didn't know a human being could elevate a small business to this level in such a short time. Starting a restaurant is hard. But starting a BBQ restaurant is extra. You prep earlier and harder than anyone else. You have to estimate how much you need to make so precisely, that you either need to have psychic powers, or buy the cheapest ingredients possible to offset the food waste cost. BAM BAM BBQ does NOT use cheap ingredients. So, they must be psychic. Because we left our house at 3:45PM, and we were driving home in the afterglow by 4:30PM. We went big on the tab, because we want this business to stay a long time, so we ordered way more than we needed. But we also bought a meal for two to put on the prepaid wall. Yes, BAM BAM BBQ has a bulletin board next to the cash register that is covered with receipts for meals patrons buy to give to hungry people who can't afford a meal. It's an incredible idea, and just a small example of all the ways that BAM BAM BBQ is community oriented and service focused. BRAVO, Brady. I may write you in for President in 2024. read more
