The Balzac's Distillery District location is probably my favorite in Toronto. This time, I tried something I wouldn't normally order--and it was delicious. The Honey Cardamom Latte from their seasonal menu was a standout.

I always order iced chai lattes at every shop I visit. Balzac's had one on the menu, however they had many cool flavors for the coffees and none for chai. I was able to custom ask for the maple latte syrup to be added to my chai for an up-charge and it was perfect! If you are a fan of chai lattes I recommend it. The service was good however there was a long wait due to the holiday fest/market going on. The interior was very clean with plenty of seating including an upstairs area as well. We didn't stay inside long, we took our drinks and walked around all of the stands and shops. A perfect treat for the walk.

I have to say... I got a nice cup of coffee with maple something or another and all I can think of was how smooth the coffee was let alone the flavor.... Yeah sooo I had to come back after our walk to this location at the distillery and it's a really cool spot. The vibe has an old industrial feel but with smatterings of the old mix with artsy new. The workers were really friendly and patient with us as we had a nice sized group. I was pretty impressed with the quality of the brew that J bought some dark roasted and also espresso roast beans to bring back home... still enjoying the two kinds. Very full and rich. Love this coffee and will be sad when J run out till my next trip back to Toronto.

A beautifully historic coffee shop to grab a beverage and baked good in the Distillery District. Stay and enjoy your time while taking in the beautiful architecture of the space, or grab something to go and explore the sights and sounds in the Distillery District. Tends to be very busy during peak times, so service is not always the friendliest.

Be sure to try their Canadian Maple Latte, it's absolutely delicious! Located in the heart of the historic Distillery District, this cozy spot offers plenty of seating upstairs, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the charm of the area Staff is nice and friendly, my drinks came out quick

Delicious matcha latte! I got ir with oatmilk and honey. Nice and toasty and a perfect amount of frothy foam on top to keep everything sealed in. The matcha tasted very clean, pure, and earthy. Friendly staff and cozy ambiance inside the shop. Very ice rest stop for us while we explored the Distillery District. 5/5.

Back in 2018, while waiting for two friends to arrive for the Christmas market at the Distillery District, I needed a drink. I found Balzac's Coffee Roasters. I decided to check it out. Balzac's is located near the big clock. It's one of the first businesses that you see after you have parked (you shell out for it) and head over to the main entrance. I had a nice man greet me as I looked at what I wanted to get. Hot chocolate seemed like a perfect drink on a cool Saturday morning. My drink was just under $6. It's a bit much for a standard hot chocolate without any bells and whistles. I used my debit card to pay. All went well. It didn't take long for my hot chocolate to be made. I thanked him and continued to browse while waiting for my friends to arrive. The hot chocolate was yummy. It was slightly sweet, but had lots of cocoa that screamed comfort and happiness. I loved it. It could have used some marshmallows. I was happy that it didn't have whipped cream. The cup was pretty sturdy as I walked and sipped my drink. I had mittens on, so I didn't find my drink to be hot to hold. I don't even know if there are sleeves for hot beverage cups. I should go back and check out the other menu items. The place had a couple of floors. I'd love to sip and people-watch sitting down next time. (459)

Slightly on the pricey side, but decent amount of seating and a really nice vibe. There are two floors and super high ceilings. Love it!

This review is for the Balzak's location in the Distillery District. We actually get coffee from here every time we visit the DD, but I've never done a review. Our most recent visit was memorable because it was the annual Winter Village and though the District was packed, service and quality inside the coffee shop was excellent. We ordered 2 coffees - a large latte with regular milk and a small seasonal special cafe 'Nordique', which is espresso (I got mine decaf), with milk of choice (I went with oat), a honey drizzle, vanilla and cardamom. Both were the exact perfect temp for immediate sipping, and were fresh and tasty. At just over $6 Canadian for both (together, with tip!), I was very happy; in the states a single specialty/coffee-shop coffee costs that much, and you're not even guaranteed to get fresh coffee! Definitely check this place out when you are around!

Such a cool spot in the distillery district! I ordered a cappuccino and really liked it. Service was very kind and patient to answer my questions. This place as a second floor for additional seating, as well as an outdoor patio on the street side

Went to Balzac's for a quick bite while waiting for an appointment nearby. The Cashew cookie was amazing, but the scone was alright. The coffee was pretty amazing. Quick service, good ambiance. Excellent choice if you are looking for a good coffee and a quick bite.

This chain of Cafés are strategically located in historical neighbourhoods or cultural districts like this location situated in the Distillery District of the Six. Opened two decades ago as Balzac's second Café, the former 1895 Pump House welcomes java lovers & baked product patrons below a giant Vaudeville chandelier. Amazing coffee, great service & ambiance for a hefty price!

The venue itself was unique, easy to find on King Street, and had lots of space to move around in - there were two floors that we had access to. Loved the solarium area of the upstairs part of the space, which had lighted trees set up in it and overlooked a gorgeous little parkette with a water fall. They also had amazing pieces of art on the wall and had tables set up with various colour schemes for consideration. We were also treated to many passed appetizers they make in house while viewing the space. All were very good however my fave were the crispy wrapped shrimp, so delicious! The staff representing the venue were very friendly and polite, making sure we were attended to and answering any questions we had. A great venue to look into if you would like to throw a party in a unique space in Toronto with great food/drink options!

There's affordable parking around the area. It was awkward to be told that the coat checks are at the back of the venue, because you had to walk down the aisle and basically walk all the way to where the groom is getting ready. The chairs were not the most comfortable, and they were wooden, so they were quite noisy. Also, there is not a lot of seating, so many people are standing in the front area, even thought it was probably a wedding of less than 75 guests. The upper dining areas is nice; the solarium was bright and beautiful. However, the shape of the dining area is a giant ring, which means there isn't really a central place for the wedding couple/family to sit. Staff: Friendly staff, however they need to work on their attentiveness. Half of the table I was seated at was served, coffee/tea and the other half didn't get served. And no one was checking in on us. When we finally got the attention of one of the people, he directed us to ask a server instead (guess he wasn't a server?!). Food: Very good food. Enjoyed the meal very much. Overall, it is more like a 3.5 out of 5.

The d'oeuvre were well selected: mini sliders, shrimp spring roll, vegetarian spring rolls, smoked paprika pita n dip, small salad boxes, mini fish n frites served on a spoon, etc. The creativity, presentation was top notch. However the decor inside is great and sets a nice vibe. Staff are friendly and there's a lot of selection and they do cater to vegans. Lots of great areas in this space for hanging out or even playing games. The third floor as I found out is for private events and is the top floor of the building. It's a fairly large space so if you are interested in having an event this place could fit the bill. Again some very interesting decor makes the space warm and welcoming. Special secret hint apparently you can also rent out the 3rd floor on Airbnb as well. We found a fully furnished bedroom and of course had to ask what was up with that.
