At the second visit, six months later, there was another cleaning and it was discovered that four teeth needed treatment -- three fillings and one crown. My wife was informed about the planned procedures at that time. This time, I brought my child in for the appointment and everything was going fine at first. My child was calm, well-behaved, and not crying at all. I really appreciated the care from Dr. Kim's assistant -- she was extremely friendly, kind, and professional. But my experience with Dr. Kim himself was very different. Our child was scheduled for two fillings. Dr. Kim was seeing three children at the same time in three different rooms with different assistants. My child was given a mask, which I understood was to help her fall asleep so the dentist could work more easily. The assistant did a wonderful job, but Dr. Kim kept leaving and coming back -- he would come in briefly, give an injection, and then leave again. After about seven to ten minutes, my child became more alert and uncomfortable in that position. The assistant kept trying to distract her, but the doctor was gone. I didn't like that he was seeing three patients at once. It also seemed to me that he wasn't familiar with the details of our case, while the assistant knew everything. He just looked at the X-ray, and I understand that he could see which teeth needed work, but his overall attitude toward patients was extremely disappointing. When he tried to put on the rubber dam and clamp, my child moved her head once. At that point, he said the options were either monitoring by an orthodontist or putting the child under general anesthesia. I was extremely unhappy with this experience. My negative review is specifically about Dr. Kim and this clinic. I have no complaints about the support staff. In my opinion, Dr. Kim's attitude was rude.
P.S. Another point worth considering is why my child became uncomfortable in the first place. When the doctor first attempted to place the cofferdam and cofferdam clamp, the fit was incorrect. He then tried a second option, which made my child even more uncomfortable. In my view, this raises questions about his professionalism and preparation for the appointment. He seemed completely unprepared to handle the situation. I would also like to point out that from a business perspective, I do not understand this approach. If he and his clinic are trying to earn money, turning away paying patients and referring children to other clinics or facilities seems like a poor way to run a business. In my opinion, even the way this was handled as a matter of procedure appeared completely unprofessional.
