Inside Dan Daniel Park you will find soccer fields,…read moresoftball fields, a skate park, a playground for the young tikes, picnic shelters for rent, the Veterans Memorial of Danville, a stretch of the Danville Riverwalk Trail and also you will find the baseball stadium for Danville's minor league baseball team the Danville Braves. The stretch of the Riverwalk Trail is really cool here. The nice paved path runs along the banks of the Dan River where you can take nice stroll on foot or by bike, the have a bike share station where you can rent a bike to ride by downloading an app on your smartphone and by following a few instructions on the app you'll be 2 wheelin' it down by the river in a jiffy. They also allow horseback riding on the Riverwalk Trail. This is a really nice oark to check out.

Highly suggest changing into a bathing suit and doing the approximate 2 mile hike to the falls. On the way, you'll see a lot of smaller falls and some spots where you can go and splash your feet in the water. I came after a spotty storm and the trail was a little bit wet so it'd be good to bring some grippy shoes. There are a couple of stones and rocks and roots to wander through. It's definitely worth a trip and the three dollar parking fee charge since it's a national car unless you have a national park pass that you can leave on your dash the national Park pass is roughly 60 or $70 per year unless you're military or have a disability and you can get it for free. There are a couple of bathrooms at the start of the trail and nowhere near the Falls to change

Upon stepping off the path to a sandy shore, I was greeted by a snake that I could not immediately identify but which thankfully decided to leave on its own. Having driven through the Danville area once before and missed the riverfront, I wish I'd had the chance to pull over for a bit. It's not quite as impressive as Richmond's waterfront, but it's a nice area.

We came here with our two year old granddaughter on a Friday late afternoon. There were almost no…read morepeople here, which was great. This was our first time on any rides, and we went on the train first. The train made four laps around the track. For the first two lapse, our granddaughter was getting used to the train. By the third lap, she was OK and started pointing things out and enjoying it. By the fourth lap, it was all smiles and excitement. We also bought a ticket for the boats, and we're the only people there. But she was not ready to ride by herself, so that got nixed. We were going to get tickets for the carousel but the little one was getting tired so we left to head home. All of the people working there were super polite and friendly. The park was spotless and well maintained. The cost of the rides was only a dollar or a dollar fifty, which is a steal. They had snacks beside the ticket booth, but we didn't have any. All in all, this is a wonderful place for families or even couples to just enjoy the beauty. Five stars all day long!

The young brunette at the front desk was very helpful, recommending which trails to prioritize based on what I wanted to see, and clarifying the difficulty levels of the trails. I chatted with a local regular who was also very friendly. Free parking, clean restrooms, water fountains, and clear signage to all the trails; this is a perfect rally point to make a full day out of exploring Hanging Rock. Don't skip the deck at the back--beautiful view with tables, would make a good picnic spot!

From the sign/arrow that points at window rock, climb down and you will see the window in the rock to your right. Through the window, you can see a waterfall! Well kept and part of the AT so you'll see a variety of people. Amenity wise, there are port a potties at the main lotbut no trash bins. The main lot is pretty small but there's a shuttle that will carry you for a different parking lot since the main lot only has about 20 spots and can fill up pretty quick. I came on a Saturday in mid July at 8AM and it only had about 5 spots left. As I was leaving, a group was celebrating someone finishing their leg of the AT, so seems also like a good meet point. Trail was great but a little strenuous because length, but the incline actually wasn't horrible. The heat is real in July, so pack your water and some snacks for energy so you can make it back to the parking lot.
