Email responses incredibly slow. As a result, we sourced our own venue and when the date was unavailable to Lustre events, we made the decision to release them. They refused to refund any portion of our $4k deposit. Over the course of 6 weeks, we estimate Melissa spent less than 3 hours on us, we never even met Morgan. We requested a partial refund (from our perspective this was generous) to which she immediately gaslighted us... launching into what appeared to be a heavily scripted response, it was clear she's done this to others, dishonest vendor, very important lesson to always read the contract! Absolute scam.

We were blown away with their services from start to finish. They are thoughtful and observant in obtaining information from their clients about design preferences. When we received their design plan for us, we could not have been more thrilled. They captured all the elements of the design and wedding experience that we were hoping for and even suggested additional special elements (like a Tiki bar) that we hadn't thought of ourselves, but absolutely loved. Melissa and Morgan were also thoughtful in helping us plan the multicultural aspects of our wedding, weaving together seamlessly different cultural traditions. The end result was unique, elegant and received glowing feedback from all of our guests. In addition to all of this, Melissa and Morgan were extremely organized and on top of our wedding timeline. Of note, our wedding was not the easiest to plan, as we live in NYC and were planning during the pandemic. This did not prove to be a barrier as Melissa and Morgan held Zoom meetings with us and handled everything on the ground in Toronto until we had our final planning meetings in person. We felt completely confident in them, even as two type-A New Yorkers! Lastly and perhaps most importantly, they are an absolutel joy to work with. Their warmth and positivity put us at ease, not just during the planning process, but also on the day of the wedding. They were super adaptable -- any last minute challenges that arose were handled swiftly and competently by Melissa and Morgan. It is clear that they have strong relationships and are beloved by all their vendors, and there are clear examples of us benefitting from these strong relationships. At the same time, we never felt pressured into using a particular vendor, and Melissa and Morgan also worked seamlessly with several new vendors that we introduced. And while always positive, Melissa and Morgan were also transparent with us at all stages. When they had strong feelings about certain decisions based on their extensive experience, they did not hesitate to guide us. All in all, we wholeheartedly recommend Lustre Events for anyone planning a wedding. They made our dream wedding come to life!

Enoch Turner Schoolhouse - Wedding time

Enoch Turner Schoolhouse

This has to be the worst experience I have had with any event/venue. Stacy who is supposedly the…read moreonly point of contact for Enoch Turner Schoolhouse has been nothing short of ridiculous right from the beginning. For starters it took me a couple of days to even reach her. The one time I was actually able to talk to her, the phone call was rushed with a couple of check email for everything and no actual responses. Phone call lasted about 10-12 mins before she was able to rush me off the call. When I was later asked if I wanted to sign a contract since I have been talking to the preferred caterers (who have been absolutely amazing btw) I said that I would like to visit the venue first, because I wanted to make sure this person was reliable. Stacy then sent me a Google invite for the viewing on January 14th to confirm our viewing on January 19th. We were supposed to have a call on Wednesday, January 15th but I did not hear from Stacy. I messaged her but no response. Calls went straight to voicemail. And there was no response until Sunday (which was the day we had a Google invite for to visit Enoch Turner Schoolhouse). On Saturday I sent another message to confirm, no response. Calls again went straight to voicemail, even minutes before our scheduled appointment. On Sunday at noon I sent another message email and I got a response at 6:06pm saying that she was sorry she couldn't confirm earlier and she's going to assume that we won't be coming. I let her know by 6:13pm that we were at the venue for our 6:30 appointment on January 19th and would still like to see it, no response till 6:48pm. The best part is when she finally got back to us, she says that since I arrived earlier there was no one there and tried to blame things on us for arriving early. We were still there until 6:40pm, no Stacy, no one, location was locked. For a venue as beautiful as this, management really needs to look into the kind of staff that they have. It is really sad when a place has so much potential but the only point of contact is literally driving people away. We drove an hour and a half each way with our wedding planners, two people had to get babysitters so they could be here, I work most weekends so I made sure that I booked the day off just so it could be wasted on an incompetent person who has terrible work ethic and really does not seem to care for the business. We are extremely disappointed with the kind of service that we have been met with and do not recommend this location based on our terrible experience from the get go. In spite of trying to cut them some slack and give them the benefit of the doubt, they have proved to be extremely incompetent every step of the way and we are glad that we did not go with this location and be met with disappointment on our special day.

What a gorgeous and unique spot for a wedding reception!…read more There are three rooms in this place... one room that is put together like the original schoolhouse, complete with old school desks and chairs (which are connected, so wear underpants, ladies, if you plan to get in and out of these), a middle room where the bar was situated, and a large room with vaulted ceilings that I can only imagine used to be the church. Just beautiful. It's great that the schoolroom provided ample seating during the cocktail reception (usually you're standing around, trying to balance hor d'oeuvres in one hand and a glass of wine in another) and a respite from the loud raucousness of the wedding reception, should you need it. The bathrooms were clean and somehow managed to never get jammed up with people. If you're holding an event for about 100 people or so, this is a GREAT place to have it.
