Awesome camp! My kids had a wonderful time and the coaches really know how to treat them well :)

Both of my daughters attended the summer camp, and we were lucky to have Coach Feng herself leading…read morethe sessions. She is a wonderful coach--very patient, kind, and knowledgeable. It was the first time both of my girls had tried volleyball, and I was genuinely impressed. They enjoyed the camp so much that they now want to continue training and are confident they can try out for their school teams in the future. They told me the assistant coaches were also very nice, and the teammates were friendly and supportive. I had the chance to observe a few sessions myself, and I felt the facility was well-organized and, most importantly, safe and professional. We're very happy with the experience and highly recommend this program to other families!

I've participated in a lot of volleyball clinics/camps and played on a lot of teams. I was looking…read morefor a club where I could improve my skills, as I have not had very good coaches in my volleyball career thus far. This was very, very disappointing. Here's why: 1. Coach Feng does not coach at all. She sits on the side and merely watches. The "assistant coaches" that are actually "teaching" the kids are maybe 18 years old and it is very obvious they do not want to be there and have not had much experience coaching. 2. They are not encouraging at all. These are clinic classes, meant for the kids to learn. The assistant coaches are very discouraging and make you do laps as punishment when you mess up. After you finish running, they will ask you why you are doing so bad since passing and serving is a very 'easy' task. I heard kids behind me answer by saying, "Because we're bad." I think that speaks for itself. Also, every time a kid missed a serve or pass, one of the assistant coaches would put her head in her hands and the other coach would laugh/roll their eyes. 3. Safety is not a priority here. I had to keep telling the kids that there were balls on the court, which is obviously not my job. The coaches do not care if there are balls on the court, they will continue to throw the balls at you in the drill. Just from my one time there, I saw many close cases of people nearly twisting their ankles due to a ball not being moved off the court. 4. The level of play is not accurate. As an experienced volleyball player, i went to the advanced class. There were people there who have never played before. The owner doesn't care and just wants money so she pushed them into the class anyway. 5. The assistant coaches can't even play themselves. We didn't have enough people on the court and they decided to play with us (and were very reluctant about it). One of the coaches kept shanking the ball and serving out. 6. At the end when the practice/class is over, they call everyone together to talk. All the coaches said was, "Next time, let's run less. Don't make so many mistakes. We'll see you next week." No encouragement or "good job!" whatsoever. Don't come here, it's a total waste of time. I feel sorry for the kids who have to come here 10x and pay $350. I only paid $40 for a trial class, but that was still not worth it to me. Btw, while playing, I asked one of the girls if she was having fun and she merely shrugged.

First, Zhang W.'s review is accurate. Give it a read as well…read more My daughter played for MVCC. We were initially excited for her to play for the club . She made the team for a specific position. However, the first season the coach instantly moved her to another position that she has never played. Just so happens to be that the best player on the team also played that position. Of course, in the first tournament our daughter basically didn't play until the last game. Naturally since we are paying quite a bit for our daughter to play at this club, we talked to the coach and ask what can our daughter do to improve. I don't assume she should play if she is not as good as the next person. I have played competitive sports and understand the concept of earning your spot. But, the club and coach should give feedback so we can improve her game. Heck, it's on their website: "Our Mission is to develop well-rounded individuals through the sport of volleyball, focusing on skill development, physical fitness, and character building." Instead, this made things worse. The coach told us our daughter does not know the position. We told the coach... true, you moved her to this position. We asked why she was moved to this position if you didn't think should could play it. Crickets. This coach may have been a great player, but it did not transfer to coaching. The coach basically didn't like our daughter after we spoke up and that was the season in nutshell. The coach then made sure to ignore our daughter at future tryouts, and we believe, the coach also told other coaches at the club that we were "troublemakers" for speaking up. I should also mention that this coach also had their own daughter on the team and interestingly enough got a lot of playtime. As for the tryouts, the experience was terrible. Read Zhang's review here. 100% accurate. The worst part about it is asking girls to stay to receive an email if they made the team. But, it's done in person so that everyone can see how they didn't make the team. Real classy MVVC. Also, want to mention that if you know or are friends with a coach or someone employed by MVVC your chances of making a team improve greatly. So, not every person that is making the team deserves to be on the team. There is an integrity issue here. By the way, you pay to attend tryouts at many of the clubs. Many clubs do this. Basically, our daughter learned from MVVC to not speak up or you get retaliation. And, it's who you know. Not what you know. We reached out to the club director several times and never heard back. And, this was not to complain. Just general items. It was clear they did not care.

Garbage experience. Avoid at a cost. Your kid probably won't get play time. If they do, it's like…read moregarbage time that doesn't matter. They hide information from you before you join. Once you join, you're stuck. Complaining causes your child to be benched even more.
