I take my three and half year old granddaughter here for Angelina Ballerina dance classes. Miss Marion, her instructor, is very experienced and a pleasure to work with. The kids, eight in her class, just love her. They have a camera in the studio so you can watch the kids dancing on a large screen TV. The cost is reasonable for a 45 minute session each week for a whole school year. There will be a recital at the end of the year. The receptionist is very friendly and helpful. We are completely satisfied, so far, with everything. Our granddaughter loves coming here and looks forward to dance class each week. We may take a music class too in the next couple of weeks. A basic music course for the 4-5 yr olds is some keyboards, some singing, and some other stuff.

I've been to a few classes thus far and I have to say that Kim is a fun instructor that keeps me entertained and sweating. The dances are fun and there's a wide range of people there. On occasion, Kim seems to lose track of where in the dance we are and give the wrong instruction. But, she is able to correct herself quickly. And I must admit that if I had to memorize that much choreography, I'd probably forget as well. The Zumba schedule is kind of limiting and I really wish they would offer more classes on the weekends, when I actually have time to go.

Folks can come in and experience a class in several different styles (aerial, modern, choreography) and be welcomed as they are. The classes are small, providing personalized attention from instructors. There are opportunities for performing here, which I love. However, no one is pressured and if performing is not your thing, that is okay too! Zuzi is also very involved in the community, which I appreciate. They partner with other dance organizations to present several performances per year, and those are wonderful chances to see various dance works that might not otherwise have a venue to be showcased. My daughter has also taken aerial classes and really loves them. She likes that the instructors are welcoming and that they don't tolerate cliques between groups of students that might know each other better than newcomers. Don't waste your money! Started my special-ed 8 year old daughter in beginner tumble class. The…read morebeginner class trained for months leading up to the "Showcase" performance only to be left with a HUGE disappointment. 95% of the children in the showcase were age 5-9 and 5% were 15-18 years old. My daughter was the only beginner placed with the top level experienced teenage performers because the title of the class was "Tumble" and the teenagers were "Tumble 90." Accuracy is accepting that she trained in beginner group and was placed in advance group for the performance. Talk about being made to feel demoralized by all the work she put in. She did do great as a beginner, that is not the point. Your website describes this advanced class well, as attached photo. She enjoyed watching the performers throughout the night but "great time" is fabrication and words that did not come out of my mouth. Hence this review. When we got home she asked why she was with the big kids whom had special dances and none of the kids that were in her class? She was made to feel shame even though she could not express through words how she was made to feel a way on performance day. I pulled management aside immediately after because it was a hugely obvious the disparity why they couldn't figure out a way to put her with all the other beginners, this is where she trained. Why don't we put 8 year olds in a high school basketballl game? Having to explain this situation and advocating for my child, followed with a response, that as a parent I am projecting on a manner of simple right vs. wrong, is a complete joke. Also, tickets for the family to attend needed to be purchased in advance, which we did. Tickets were not collected at the door and many families were let in the door without a ticket as speaking to and witnessing them walk through the door. My child slipped through the cracks when teachers made assignments for this performance day. Every beginner was with beginner groups. I am the ONLY complaint because my daughter was the ONLY beginner with the advance group. When addressed with the owner, unremorsefully replied "she grew up as a gymnast whom performed with older girls." Completely missed the point of SKILL LEVEL on a showcase day. I will never let my daughter to feel this way and take my $1500/year tuition elsewhere. I post this so future parents can be aware of the many hours spent of beginner practice prior to the showcase, to then have them thrown in a random slot for performance day. Please save your money and go to a gym whom can structure their teaching and classes to meet your child's needs for performance day!

I honestly regret spending my money at DansWest Dance Studio…read more The tuition is ridiculously expensive for Tucson, especially considering the quality of teaching. Paying around $100 a month for ONE class is already outrageous, and if your child actually wants enough instruction to improve, you're expected to pay for another class too. That can easily become around $200 a month, which is not realistic for a lot of families. My biggest problem was the Acro Level 2-3 class with Miss Dani. In my opinion, the class was nowhere near the level it was supposed to be. Most classes were spent doing conditioning, stretching, splits, and backbends instead of actually teaching intermediate acro skills and proper technique. Students who were ready to learn more weren't getting the instruction they needed. The wristband system also made no sense to me. I watched students receive higher-level wristbands even though they still struggled with basic skills, while other students with stronger technique didn't seem to get the same recognition. From my experience, the standards didn't feel consistent. I also felt there was obvious favoritism toward some competition team students. I even watched one student receive opportunities that, in my opinion, didn't match the skill expectations that seemed to apply to everyone else. I will not name the student but his name starts with a G. However I don't blame the student--that isn't their fault. My issue is with how the studio handled it. The owner has always been kind whenever I've spoken with her, and I genuinely think she's a nice person. However, I believe she needs to take a closer look at what's happening in some of these classes. The inconsistent teaching, confusing evaluations, and what I experienced as unequal treatment are problems that shouldn't be ignored, especially when families are paying so much money. For the prices this studio charges, I expected much better instruction, better organization, and fair treatment for every student. Based on my experience, I can't recommend DansWest Dance Studio.
